Great group, classic rock. This song was produced by George Harrison. They were the first new artists signed to the Beatles' Apple Corps. label. "No Matter What" and "Baby Blue" are also great, great tracks.
Rave Up was a band that played around LA & LB in the 70’s doing British Invasion stuff they always played at Michelangelo’ s in Long Beach & Orville & Wilbur’s in Redondo Beach , great times.
Their masterpiece is actually Without You. It has been a number one multiple times as it was covered by Nilsson and Mariah Carey much later. Badfinger was just great band
You have wandered into a legendary band who have possibly one of the saddest stories in rock and roll. One of the first bands to be signed to the Beatles, Apple label. Also supported and produced by the Beatles. It all seemed to be a golden road for Badfinger but criminal management and record labels ripping them off leading to 2 suicides by band members. Beautiful music but touched with sadness when you realize the tragedy it led to. Have a listen to Baby Blue next.. another awesome song.
A combination of drugs and hanging out with occultists who screwed with their minds certainly didn't help matters. Badfinger churned out some great songs within a short period of time. I wish the ones who are gone could've stuck around to see their children and grandchildren enjoy their music.
I grew up listening to Badfinger pouring out of my sister's stereo. It wasn't until my 20s that I really started listening to them, and appreciating how underrated they were! "Come and Get It" is my favorite, and "No Matter What" and "Baby Blue" are also awesome. Pete Ham had such an amazing voice.... sadly he took his own life at the age of 27, joining the infamous 27 Club. (Bit of trivia - this song was co-produced by The Beatles' George Harrison.)
Actually "come and get it" became the theme song for the movie The Magic Christian starring Peter sellers(original Inspector Clouseau/Pink Panther) and Ringo Starr.
George Harrison of the Beatles produces this and caps it off with a beautiful slide guitar solo toward the end. Lovely. HOW COULD you have reacted to this and not even mentioned the guitar? It gives me chills, even after hundreds of listens.
I love when someone refers to Leon. I have always complained to radio stations that I never heard him. One program director even said Leon didn't matter in Rock. I couldn't believe this guy was so clueless. Anyway, thanks for spiking my brain.
Their untimely demise created a vacuum that their peers ELO filled in. Their story can cause you to lose faith in humanity and realize there sometimes is no karma and that the bad guys do win. The fact that their music had a resurgence in popular culture and their rights reclaimed is a small consolation.

When my friends and I first heard this group, we thought the Beatles were playing a prank on us by recording under a different name. 😆 Definite Beatles influence.
The name Badfinger indirectly came from the Beatles. It was the working title for one of their songs which they called Bad Finger Boogie, later retitled to With a Little Help from My Friends. This is a great song, featuring George Harrison on slide guitar and co-production. Check out No Matter What by Badfinger.
So many others have already said it, but I'll repeat it -- the next 2 Badfinger songs you should react to are Baby Blue and No Matter What. Badfinger was definitely an underrated really great ROCK band.
Badfinger's "Baby Blue" was brilliantly used in the final minutes of "Breaking Bad" (Walter's meth was blue) and it introduced this band to a new group of listeners. If you hate sad stories, don't read up on this band. It is a sad tale for sure.

Badfinger was formed in Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom during 1961. "Day After Day" was the first single (10 Nov 1971) from their fourth studio album, "Straight Up" (released 13 Dec 1971), and reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.
One of my earliest childhood songs that I remember hearing!!! This hit the charts in Dec. 1971, 1 month after I was born. I remember hearing this as a toddler. This & "Lean On Me" by Bill Withers are the first two songs that I remember hearing as a baby. I came from a hit music family, so I have so many memories!!!
Jay/Amber, their "No Matter What", "Baby Blue" and "Come And Get It" are next for you!!! Pete Ham - lead vocals, acoustic guitar, slide guitar;Tom Evans - backing vocals, bass guitar; Joey Molland - backing vocals, acoustic guitar; Mike Gibbins - drums, percussion; Additional musicians George Harrison - slide guitar; Leon Russell - piano.
Great memories with this sweet classic! Thanks. And a R.I.P. to the great, far underrated Peter Ham who had so much more in him that we never got to hear.
My favorite song of their's!!!!! They played a concert at my High School in 1974. I sat in the front row on the floor. "Baby Blue" is the other song of their's that I love. They are part of the soundtrack of my life.
Yes, one of the BEST power pop bands of all time. Love them so much. Tragically, their record company screwed them over so bad it didn’t end well for a few of them. Really heartbreaking because they were great.
Jay, give The Stylistics-" I'm stone in love with you" a listen. You will be impressed with the falsetto voice of Russell Thompkins Jr. Very comparable to Barry Gibb. You will be impressed!!
Great tune. Could not believe that "Baby Blue" was the closing song for Breaking Bad! Again, George Harrison on the slide here. Lol! As head space music eras go, Amber, 70s is right up there! Great reaction. Thanks.
Badfinger, produced by Paul McCartney at Abby Road studio, used to be one of my favs. Try "Name of the Game", "Baby Blue" and "No Matter What." In reverse order. RIP: Pete Ham.
This is the band that wrote and originally recorded the classic (Can't Live) Without You that was later made a hit with the difinitive version by Harry Nilsson. It was also a hit in the 90's by Mariah Carey.
"No Matter What", "Baby Blue", and "Come And Get It" should be your next outing with Badfinger, *in that order.* The latter is Beatles influenced, Paul McCartney helped write, produce it AND play tambourine.
One of the most talented rock quartets in history, but they experienced such tragedy. Very sad their career was cut short by bad management. Still, their beautiful music lives on. They were great live as well. You can find several of their live performances online.
Ham and Evans from Badfinger wrote the iconic hit, Harry Nilssons hit Without you, I used to watch these guys practice at a local junior school they were a couple of years older and we would watch them through the classroom window practicing.
What a great band. Superb songwriters, musicians. With a little good luck, they would have been one of the biggest bands of their era. As it was, they should have been... The entire WISH YOU WERE HERE album, which sold about 11 copies, is brilliant. Badfinger's "No Matter What" and the Raspberries' "Go All the Way" are the two greatest POWER-POP songs of all-time. No arguments!
Badfinger were recording this at the Beatles Apple studios and George was producing. Leon Russell stopped by to visit. When they were about to record George grabbed a guitar and said do you mind if I join in? Who was going to say no! Then George said do you mind if Leon adds a bit of piano again no one said no. So here it is George accompanying them on guitar with Leon tickling the ivory’s. The result a masterpiece of a love song by Badfinger!
Huge Badfinger fan here, glad you've taken the plunge into their catalog. Most replies have already alerted you to the hits, so a few deeper cuts I would recommend from them are "Name of the Game," "Suitcase," "I Miss You," "Just a Chance," and "Meanwhile Back at the Ranch/Should I Smoke." The latter two songs are from their album WISH YOU WERE HERE, which would have been a stone classic but because of their corrupt manager, the album was pulled from stores and radio, which initiated all the tragic events that followed.
Also, a few "power pop" bands in the vein of Badfinger you should investigate are Big Star - "September Gurls," "In the Street," "Thirteen," "Way Out West" Jellyfish - "Now She Knows She's Wrong," "That is Why," "Joining a Fan Club," "Sebrina, Paste, and Plato" The Smithereens - "Blood and Roses," "Behind the Wall of Sleep," "A Girl Like You," "Top of the Pops" The Rubinoos - "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," "Rock'n'Roll is Dead," "If I Had You Back"
Badfinger was signed to the Beatles Apple label, Pete Ham was the principal writer, though the guitarist co-wrote several. Paul McCartney wrote their first hit, 'Come & get it' some of their most popular & best are 'No Matter what' 'Baby blue' The album 'Straight up' a great play on their name. Was one of the best LP's Day after day & Baby blue were on it. 3 others from that album 'Id die babe' 'Perfection' & 'Name of the game' are great songs & Perfection is ahead of it's time. George Harrison produced several of the songs I mentioned on the album he produced. They (Pete) wrote 'Without you' & let Nielsen release what became a smash hit for him. When they had to leave Apple Pete wrote 'Apple of my eye' a love song to his disbanding label. To give you an idea who they are. Or were, sadly. Love your channel & can see the genuine love you two share & bring to the channel. Beat the odds &never lose sight of the beautiful gift of a true love in your life, easier when your kids are around, just always communicate & never let your head hit the pillow mad, & you'll last together till you're on your rockers, talking about your favorite songs, as they become the soundtrack to your life & love. I had 28 great years till alcoholism a family curse on both sides, the reason I never drank, beyond one with the group after gigs, being the lead singer I had to be aware of what Steven Tyler gave the perfect definition, LSD Lead singer disorder Lol! Take care & always remember to make each other smile.
Badfinger is so underrated! Easily one of the most tragic stories in all of music as well. You guys should do a deep dive into their story...but have the tissues handy.
I remember seeing my aunt's Badfinger album when I was a kid (she was 9 years older than me & cool as hell!) & thinking what a crazy name! But I listened to the music with her & loved it! This & Baby Blue are my favorites. I'm glad you're listening to them, they deserve to be heard!!
They were the first non-Beatles to record on the Beatles Apple label. In fact George Harrison produced and played slide guitar on this song. The band were named after the working title for the Beatles' 1967 song "With a Little Help from My Friends" ("Bad Finger Boogie"). Listen to their songs "Suitcase","Come and Get It" (written and produced by Paul McCartney), "Baby Blue" and "Without You" (a hit later for Harry Nillson and even later for Mariah Carey.
Badfinger is one of the first (if not the very first) artist signed to Apple Records, another great hit of theirs is No Matter What...hope you check that out as well as another British band from the 70's you need to get back to is The Sweet, hope you get back to them as well, The Six Teens, and Fox On The Run are real bangers!!...hint..hint...😁 Peace, love, and happiness to all 😎🙏❤🇨🇦
RIP the three members of Badfinger Pete Ham (April 27, 1947 - April 24, 1975), aged 27 Tom Evans (June 5, 1947 - November 19, 1983), aged 36 Mike Gibbins (March 12, 1949 - October 4, 2005), aged 56
When John Lennon played his piano part in the studio on the song that became With A Little Help From My Friends, he had a damaged middle finger. When asked what their new song was called, John gave the song the working title "Badfinger Boogie'. The rest is history. RNB
I was just thinking of this day before yesterday. I *love* this song. One of my all time favorites and always has been. Something about "Day After Day" connects with my soul. If it has been a while, hearing it is like a drink of water after going thirsty. I never get tired of hearing it. Thank you very much for this reaction.
If you're wondering why Bad Finger sounds derivative of the Beatles it is because after they signed to the Beatles label Apple McCartney and Harrison produced some of their songs, Including the song you listened to today day after day. And I can definitely hear George Harrison's guitar influence
It makes me happy to see the Young Folks discover this great music that the older folks like me enjoyed when we were kids. I'm so glad you discovered this great band. I hope you get a chance to listen to No Matter What. You might be surprised again!
The first time I heard Bad finger’s vocals, I thought Paul McCartney had a side band and didn’t credit himself on the album. 😂 I think you should hit No Matter What or Come And Get It, which was written by Paul McCartney next. As always I’m enjoying y’all reacting to the music of my youth. Another song worthy of y’all’s attention is Lynyrd Skynrd’s Swamp Music….. The title tells you all you need to know…. It’s a banger! These two got the most airplay in the USA. They were signed to Apple records by the Beatles. George Harrison produced and played guitar on Day After Day.
I’m having so much fun watching your reviews! Badfinger is one of my fave 70s bands. First non-Beatles signed to the Apple label and had their seal of approval. This song’s piano and guitar is signature George Harrison sound!
I got a transistor radio for Christmas when I was 11 and this song was getting a lot of play time. Brings such a flood of good memories from my happy childhood!
Besides the three other recommendations most people are mentioning, I highly recommend 'Without You' and 'Carry On Till Tomorrow'! Both MUST listens! Peace & Love 😎✌❤
I was in 6th grade when this song hit the radio. I got a cheap cassette recorder for Chritsmas that year and recorded a lot of music off my little transistor radio at the time. This was one of those songs. SO many memories... Thank you. :)
Love this group. Badfinger were a Welsh rock band from the 60's-80's. They became the first group signed by the Beatles' Apple label. Paul & George wrote & produced a few songs for them. They had some really big hits such as "Come & Get It", "No Matter What", "Day After Day", "Baby Blue" & "Without You". This group had quite a sad history. The band had bad mismanagement & lost most of their money, two members committed suicide & one died of a brain aneurysm.
Many Rock power-pop songs from the 70s and 80s are derivative of The Beatles, but Badfinger more than most. It's because they were a Beatles project if you will. After signing with Apple records, (The Beatles label) they had a vested interest in their success; subsequently they were in the studio producing many of the songs on their albums
It's not really close to Paul's voice. The instrumentals and arrangement have the influence of Paul and George and the studio team, but you can't mistake the vocals.
@@tjhunger8644 Badfinger was not a "Beatles project". The influences are Paul and George, post-Beatles. Most importantly there's no touch of John's influence in this. Frankly, this is better than anything The Beatles produced. Paul, George, and Ringo all produced better music after the breakup of The Beatles. They were better vocalists, better instrumentalists, better directing their own studios, better at working with and singing with other artists. Everything about them was better in terms of quality after The Beatles. In contrast, the Beatles were derivative of every lesser known band they mimicked their sounds from. They didn't sing well together, and when a trend came along they produced inferior versions of that music. I.e. garage band, psychedelic, hard rock, orchestral, protest, folk. And frankly, I think Paul, George, and Ringo were more enlightened in the 70s. For one, Paul truly fell in love and it translated into his work. George and Ringo just seemed to have a better grasp of music. Or maybe, the three of them were held back by the studio teams and John and Yoko all along. Regardless, one thing is for sure- they sounded way better not singing together. The Beatles were the best marketed band of the 60s and perhaps all time. They were commercial and cultural phenomenons. But, imo, their music was and is incredibly overrated. And, each of them were much better individually than they were together. An opposite of the "greater together than the sum of their parts" axiom.
The thing about Badfinger is, you have to remember that they burst on the scene the same year the Beatles broke up. And when their debut single first came out here in America, "No Matter What," a lot of us thought they sounded curiously like the Beatles in a lot of ways. And their records were even released on the same label as The Beatles, Apple Records. I always thought this song, "Day After Day," was, by far, their best. But their list of hits, although short, was solid. Check out "Come and Get It," "No Matter What," and "Baby Blue."
Badfinger was one of the first bands signed to Apple Records, the Beatles label. Other Badfinger classics to check out are "No Matter What", "Come and Get It", and "Baby Blue". Thanks for checking them out. And I think the biggest difference between music of the 70s and the 80s is that 70s instruments were more organic. The 80s was all synths. IMO.
Hey there Jay and Amber! 👋🏾 I love your channel! ❤️ I wish you would react to "Brother To Brother" by Canadian singer/musician Gino Vannelli. The album version of the same title. His voice and musical arrangements are phenomenal!! You don't know what you're missing! I promise you won't be disappointed!! 👍🏾
Paul McCartney wrote their first hit "Come and Get It" and they were the first band to sign to the Beatles label, owing it that they come from Liverpool. Peter Ham, the main songwriter was from Swansea. Wales. Ham and Tom Evans were the band's songwriters. They wrote Without You together, one writing the verse the other the chorus which became a worldwide hit after Nilsson covered it a few months after their original release. There have been documentaries about this band because it all ended in tragedy, their American manager exploited them and tied them up to a contract they couldn't get away from. They ended up living in near-poverty while penning hits on the charts. Both Ham and Evans committed suicide.
Such an underrated band. "No Matter What" is the song of theirs I go back to again and again - perfect power pop!

Also, a few "power pop" bands in the vein of Badfinger you should investigate are
Big Star - "September Gurls," "In the Street," "Thirteen," "Way Out West"
Jellyfish - "Now She Knows She's Wrong," "That is Why," "Joining a Fan Club," "Sebrina, Paste, and Plato"
The Smithereens - "Blood and Roses," "Behind the Wall of Sleep," "A Girl Like You," "Top of the Pops"
The Rubinoos - "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," "Rock'n'Roll is Dead," "If I Had You Back"
Badfinger was signed to the Beatles Apple label, Pete Ham was the principal writer, though the guitarist co-wrote several.
This song is beautiful ❤️
First time I've heard this song with such full sound. Every other time has been on cheap radios. Definitely a classic
I suggest "No Matter What" for your next Badfinger reaction. It's more upbeat but still tuneful. They were very Beatles influenced.
Badfinger were a phenomenal band of musicians who warrant more reactions..
I always loved this band. Brings me back to my teenage years.
Badfinger is one of the first (if not the very first) artist signed to Apple Records, another great hit of theirs is No Matter What...hope you check that out as well as another British band from the 70's you need to get back to is The Sweet, hope you get back to them as well, The Six Teens, and Fox On The Run are real bangers!!...hint..hint...😁
Peace, love, and happiness to all
😎🙏❤🇨🇦
My all time favorite song ever, with Leon Russell on piano, and George playing slide guitar, What’s not to love!
Pete ham and george
RIP the three members of Badfinger
Pete Ham (April 27, 1947 - April 24, 1975), aged 27
Tom Evans (June 5, 1947 - November 19, 1983), aged 36
Mike Gibbins (March 12, 1949 - October 4, 2005), aged 56
“ Baby Blue”, “No matter what”, and “Come and get it”!
No Matter What, Baby Blue are just a couple more you should listen to by Badfinger. An extremely underrated band.
They were backed by the Beatles. Baby Blue and No Matter What. 1 of these songs were very instrumental in the Breaking Bad series.
If you're wondering why Bad Finger sounds derivative of the Beatles it is because after they signed to the Beatles label Apple McCartney and Harrison produced some of their songs, Including the song you listened to today day after day. And I can definitely hear George Harrison's guitar influence
Paul McCartney wrote one song for them, "Come and Get It." Their regular producer was Todd Rundgren.
It makes me happy to see the Young Folks discover this great music that the older folks like me enjoyed when we were kids. I'm so glad you discovered this great band. I hope you get a chance to listen to No Matter What. You might be surprised again!
"No Matter What" is another one of theirs that was so good that Def Leppard covered it.
Love both versions.
That line and the way it's sung, "I give my love to you".... gets me every time....
The first time I heard Bad finger’s vocals, I thought Paul McCartney had a side band and didn’t credit himself on the album. 😂
I think you should hit No Matter What or Come And Get It, which was written by Paul McCartney next.
Oh wow! What high school memories this floods back to my mind. Thank you for featuring Badfinger!
No Matter What, is a great one by them and a bit faster. Definitely a banger.
I think of my first love when I hear this, gone but not forgotten. Very emotional.
Baby Blue and No Matter What are songs you should definitely hit up.
I’m having so much fun watching your reviews! Badfinger is one of my fave 70s bands. First non-Beatles signed to the Apple label and had their seal of approval. This song’s piano and guitar is signature George Harrison sound!
On Piano is Leon Russell, Tulsa's Great!
I got a transistor radio for Christmas when I was 11 and this song was getting a lot of play time. Brings such a flood of good memories from my happy childhood!
WHERE is the bio-pic on these guys? Great sound, great hit songs, a sad tragic story. Hollywood or HBO should tell their story.
So well produced and good musicianship with superb lead vocal.
One of my old favorites.. how can it not be?..👌🏻🤷♂️
Jay & Amber, Paul Mc Cartney & George Harrison put this band on Apple Records and helped write No Matter What for them
One of my all time favorite songs out of any genre
A perfect Chill song!! If someone didn't really know about this band, you can easily mistake this for a Paul McCartney song
Jordan, do your self a favor and try some live Rory Gallagher, one of the most under appreciated guitarists ever. Do a live one for full guitargasm!
Absolutely anything by Gino Vannelli. He was all there was in the 80s. At least for me! Definitely start with "Brother to Brother"!
This band has always been close to my heart. What a loss. Thank you for your reaction.
Badfinger's melancholy Pop still moves me. ❤
One of my most favourite songs❤️❤️❤️thanks to you both, big ❤️
Beautiful song. Singer Leon Russell played piano and George Harrison is on slide guitar. Great reaction choice💖💖💖
Great group. Highly underrated. Tragic story. Without You was Their song first!
My favorite by them is an overall favorite for me..."No Matter What". You guys will love it!
