The Weyland-Yutani Corporation denies any and all involvement in these tragedies. If you have any questions, consult their lawyers during normal business hours.
DO NOT FORGET to mention Charles Bishop Weyland as the original founder of Weyland Industries, with Peter Weyland (likely being his son) taking over the company in 2012, eight years after Charles' death in 2004, and rejuvenating it as Weyland Corporation, though retaining the old title of Weyland Industries in certain instances, such as on the corporate website.
Interesting. I'm going to assume that Weyland-Yutani started off with pure intentions, but became an evil corporation once they began to monopolize virtually everything in the Alien universe. Great video.
I know they weren't considered the best and that the studio considers them non canon but I'd like to see a topic about the AVP films and how they could connect to the franchise even with Prometheus retconning the universe.
Someone really needs to make another Aliens Vs Predator game where we can play as the Weyland Corporations private army again. Like you could in AVP2. Those were the days.
Yes, Alien Theory, you did a fairly well job of this video. My only complaints are: no visible timeline for easy visual comparison, and possibly not enough information about The Company. Not putting you down, Alien Theory, though. The visible timeline would be mighty useful for those of us who are largely ignorant about the Alien franchise's timeline.
more like Weyland himself has done more good than bad in terms of his creations. The company however? it's like any giant corporation in today's world- not focused on doing good but focused on money. The fact that Weyland (and later Weyland Yutani) is so focused on making money by progressing their military division at ANY COST seriously suggests that they are undoubtedly an evil company and not doing that much good. We've seen a handful of scenarios in the Alien movies where the 'company' has been willing to sacrifice loads of innocent lives for a bioweapon, imagine in the same universe hypothetically how many other scenarios there would have been where the company had put directives in a computer that crews and staff were 'expendable' The scientist himself seems to have created a lot of helpful things but the company is just a faceless evil imo, not so different from a lot of gigantic companies in reality
Oh boo hoo, a company is focused on money (which is the entire point of corporations. The profit motive.). Weyland Corporation did a lot of great things, and their positives certainly outweigh their negatives.
zombie490 I think the mistakes made were the results of company policy however the involvement and pursuit of the xenomorph species and the subsequent loss of life and equipment can only be explained by inadequate and unprepared personnel along with a "crisis of morality" by lieutenant Ellen Ripley.
When working for the company, if you survive long enough to reach retirement, they give you a gold star. So far they still have an entire warehouse of unused stars.
@@ironwolfosiris I think a thing like this is really likely. In my opinion the companies with more sureness of the future are companies like Wal-Mart and others those are in food domain.
@@dario1998 Yeah. Get your planet terraformed, buy all your soy infused groceries, pick up some fried chicken with breading hard enough to bust a molar all while your car is being serviced with Chinese tires and the oil cap left off
Sounds like great inspiration for my further play through custom scenario in Stellaris I guess... 😂 Thx for that video, such as all about Account of Earth War I watched recently. I didn’t know EU of Aliens before that, and I enjoyed watching it ! (More than Prometheus movie couple of years ago, my last contact with alien universe, whom truly dissapointed me there) But the EU lore is far deeper than I thought, and earth war particularly is amazing. Keep up the good work, it looks really well (and your voice suits perfectly for that kind of narrative). 👍
Sir Peter, so he's a Knight of the British Empire ? Also nice photo of Weyland when he stared in the aussie soap opera " Neighbours " Do we know/ have history of whom Yutani is ?

I really loved the Weyland speech he make in TED 2023. He is a prophet and what is told in any movies is a proof of that. He and his company made the most advanced vehicles and products in mankind history etc. etc. But the the beauty of this franchise is on the realistic building of characters and plots. Obviously, any big company seeks the profit and the unlimited power. An example for my country: Agnelli and Berlusconi have made a lot of occupation and, mostly Fiat, push technologies forward etc. But at same way they seek benefits and profits, therefore they are not Non-profit associations.
What I would want to know is how and when the "Yutani" part came in. In the ending of Alien 3, we clearly see Asian representatives, probably even the main shareholders of the company, accompanying Bishop 2 to take Ripley. I would like to see a video on that type of thing.
To a Villain's eyes, they are the hero. Maybe Weyland-Yutani believe only they can safe guard human interests in an ever growing and dangerous universe. Xeno's, Engineers, Yautja and a very large amount of questionable Androids. I do hope the movies never stop for the universe is a diverse and interesting place.
maybe you could make a video about Weylands rival companys? there have been quite a few in the expanded universe most recently in isolation and the comics also had a couple interesting ones, would be good to have them all explained in one vid.
If the Alien and Blade runner franchises were in the same universe, Weyland's direct competitors would be the Tyrell corporation, specifically Weyland's androids vs Tyrell's Replicants.
I'm hoping that a franchise book (or a better series of films than the prequels) introduces Yutani. It would take a very strong personality to want to be in business partnership with Weyland. Here's hoping that if Yutani does appear, he's something unpredictable.
Since Ridley Scott is the grand puppet master I've a private notion "Nature Boy" is a reference to his younger late brother Tony. Ridley released materials depicting a connection between Weyland and Eldon Tyrell. It was released the year Tony committed his very public suicide and the material mimics a conversation the brothers had earlier in their careers when Ridley told his brother to come work with him and he'll make him famous. There's another song I find interesting "One More Try" by George Michael. The music video is one of the two music videos Tony directed. I'm still of the opinion Ridley has always used his films to play out his daddy and creator/creation issues. Their father served in the Royal Engineers.
No mention of Weyland Industries and Charles Bishop Weyland. It's all canon until FOX says it isn't. You could even speculate at the relationship between the two Weylands. There is nothing in Prom or AC that excludes CBW and his iteration of WI. He could easily be the estranged father of PW. It would certainly explain PW's inability to be a good father to his daughter and his mechanical boy.
I want to know more about Yutani and how they merged (if they were separate companies or corporate entities). All I know about Yutani is a name mentioned at the end of Aliens vs Predator 2, but I don't really count them as canon. I doubt it'll be touched on in Ridley's next film.
Definitely working my way toward that - right now I have a video called “Anatomy of a Vessel: USCSS Nostromo” which shares a lot of info on the ship. I’m aiming to cover others soon! :)
Question: In Aliens the marines use the phrase 'it's a bug eye' before they meet the xenomorph. Is this a reference to some other alien species in that universe? I always got the impression that humans were more or less alone there till they found the navigator. I should point out I haven't seen the last two movies, though obviously I know about the engineers from excellent vids like these.
Thank you so much for the vid, I missed your regular contributions very much! Do you know how got the Yutani in Weyland-Yutani? Corporation Merger most likely but is it explained in canon sources anywhere?
I think the story of Weyland-Yutani is like any other large organisation. They're portrayed as the evil overlords, but I think that might just be a small faction inside the company going against what the rest are really striving for, Better Worlds.
So I love all these movies Aliens the Predators!! So which movie is first in the time line? Is it The Predator? Number 1? Then predator 2 and so forth to the last Aliens movie? I’m also guessing It’s the kids of Wayland that take over through the time line?
Peter Weyland’s death led to his company becoming a run of the mill evil corporation, for his curiosity, passion, and extraordinary intelligence gave it reason to exist, to focus and march on in the purity of it’s pursuits.
