- I have seen a lot talking about The Recluse, but I feel there is an exact place for it. When you place it there it does very well. Even better than funnelweb. In this review I talk about the god roll in 2024. I was able to do a legend 50 wave run with it and I show some examples of how to use it on all characters. In PvP, there is a roll that I am in love with. it's a loadout actually and recluse is legitimately the best fit for it.

Tha combo you talk about with gyr falcons, i did it with a dynamic sway repulsar brace Title back when 750s were peak meta and when the artifact gave you volatile rounds on orb pick up. Super good loop with Reaper and everything just feeding the gameplay loop.
I stumbled upon the Recluse combo you mentioned in this video with your Felwinter's build and it is disgustingly good. Repulser Brace + Desperate Measures is nuts with it.
Also, was looking through the aspects and Fragments for Prismatic and think Felwinter's is going to be incredibly good when Prismatic comes out. The Fragment that has your finisher final blows synergize with your Super to apply, Scorch, Jolt, Slow, Sever or Volatile will make it nuts. Also free Radiant through powered melee kills in another fragment. Watch out everyone, Felwinter's Prismatic is gonna be meta.
I tried this build but substituted the recluse for the optative. I think it works better especially with the artifact making it overcharged
It's kind of funny that Frenzy just does in one go what the old Recluse roll did together. I've got a Repulsor/Frenzy Recluse and it slaps on Voidwalker. I've been using it with Briarbinds but I'll have to try it out with Contraverse Hold and Nezarec's Sin both.
Briars may be best for the on demand repulsor proliferation.

It's interesting how far the sandbox has come since the old Recluse. Even getting the OG roll from the quest kind of puts it all into perspective. It still does good work, but the random rolls it comes with give it more options than I think the community at large gives it credit for. Repulsor and Destabilizing alone give it so much more PvE utility than the original back in the day.
Except old recluse was a 50 percent buff and made body shots into crits lmfao
@@Sebastian-mp1bl Exactly, people forget this. The only way that the perk is the same is the activation of criteria and the duration.
It was golden tricorn x2 on ANY weapon kill, refreshable on ANY weapon kill, and boosted bodyshot damage to match crit damage. Feeding frenzy was something crazy like 50 reload on a single kill.
This is also before the shadowkeep changes to primary precision damage, so primaries we're doing just like, nothing to the body normally. One can watch old videos to see how bad it was.
It's Forbearance and Hammerhead next week. Blast furnace and Luna's howl the final week. Thanks for the videos on these weapons, it does help me kind of narrow down what i want.
Forbearence's chain reaction is getting nerfed and I expect the weapon to be pretty underwhelming. Hammerhead gets Commemoration's godroll as well as Onslaught/Rampage and some other interesting combos. Luna's will get heal clip and incan as well as reworked mag. Howl. Blast furnace looks like it'll creep most kinetic pulses.

The new Brave version doesn't highlight targets but the ornaments still do which can really help staying on target with its low zoom.
Repulsor brace weapons with child of the old gods briarbinds in pvp is a very recent discovery for me, I find to be the warlock equivalent of the gyrfalcons for hunter
What fragments and other aspect do you like to use for your build ?

I’ve been really liking my shiny repulsor frenzy roll for gyrfalcon hunter. Free damage and free overshield all the time is great

Got a shiny with repulsor and frenzy. Frenzy is so good because you get damage and reload speed. Feels so good when frenzy is active with damage and snappy reload.

The must have thing for Recluse in PVE (along with other Void weapons) is to capitalize on the Harmonic Loader armor mod, especially if you are relying on Repulsor Brace + Volatile Rounds / Destablizing Rounds to survive in later Onslaught stages.
Thats a good take with MoA pairing with repulsor. I went with repulsor/destabilizing rounds with doomfangs since it also gives void weapons a buff as well. I am definitely gonna try the HOIML with this setup 👌.

Destabilizing rounds is a joke compared to Voltshot and Incandescent.
Needs to make enemies volatile on sustained damage, and spread it with a precision kill.
Or actually give the weapon volatile rounds somehow
I went with Enlightened Action because it makes everything smoother, but I too wish to preach the good word of Desparate Measures. Such a fantastic perk on this gun for ability centric builds.
My fav role for controverse warlock is repulsor brace desperate measures. It’s amazing

Repulser brace and surrounded on this is great too. Proc volatile rounds with a grenade kill and repulser brace will proc on next kill allowing you to be surrounded without caring. With the help of that origin trait and devourer you can get your grenades back in order to keep proc’ing volatile rounds as well being even more tanky. You can add gyrfalcon's for even more survivability but I stick with orpheus rig.

I've been farming this since it dropped. You're right. Still haven't gotten my repulsor frenzy yet.
Remember verities gets grenade energy on matching weapon final blows, that gives more grenade energy on kill in addition to devour and indomitability, as well as overcharging your grenades.
Always love your insight. One thing I will add however is Unforgiven with demo and golden is legit the ultimate smg for all the builds you mentioned. Also, instead of controverse try the Brow. It super powers your grenades while still giving you tons of grenade energy on kills.
@htakard243 not really. Keep in mind golden tricorn gives 50% damage increase. And with verity’s brow and demo you get grenades back super fest. Then throwing the grenade loads the weapon and refreshed the damage buff. It’s a fantastic play loop. Add to that bitterspite so if you need to reload you e got a huge reload buff waiting. 720s are also easier to control and have better general range. In the end it’s what you enjoy.
Seconding verity’s, incredibly pairing pick for a bunch of the brave weapons.
I was looking forward to Repulsor Brace for my HoIL build too, and it's a lot of grenades. Personally I'm not a fan of Vortex grenades off of empowered Warlock ones, so I run Scatters instead with Echo of Undermining because it seems to down somewhat larger targets that way to get Volitile rounds proced. And if it doesn't kill then the weaken is great to help Recluse finish things up and start getting that next grenade.

So pre-release of these Brave weapons I went through the perks and compared to stuff I had on hand already. I have a few Funnelwebs and a Repulsor Unforgiven to round out my void SMG needs. Looking at recluse in and of it self I deduced I wanted:
- Enlightened Action + Master of Arms (PVP)
- Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing Rounds (In place of my Hero's Burden, PVE)
- Repulsor Brace + Desperate Measures (PVE)
After playing with a few of them after launch Ive pretty much whittled it down to two of those. I may have never noticed because Ive had perks to mitigate the reload on my other lightweights but the reload feels a lot more sluggish than I'd like. Frenzy and Subsistence (such as on Funnel Web or Submission) do a lot of QoL for those guns for me. Unforgiven (aggressive) already left me wanting in that dept but I found much utility in repulsor brace and used that gun for a solo flawless dungeon.
Im working with the EA+MOA for PVP so I can continue my love affair with double Harmony and/or perks that work with Harmony type play styles. So Master of Arms paired with something with Harmony or (in my current love affair's case) Cascade Point then we got some funny stuff that goes down. Be it your Cascade Point Taraxippos or , my personal favorite, Cacasde Point+Discord Prophet then you got a decent long range pairing where each kill feeds into the other weapon. EA mitigates my reload woes and heaps on more handling so I love that.
For PVE I think RB+DM is my goto. RB is nice but when you fully invest into Void I've found that debuff are pretty much non-stop. SImilar to you, CoolGuy, I kinda went all in on Void Walker and its capacity for extreme grenade uptime. Though where I differ is I wanted to build for Verity's Brow (as Ive done many a Controverse set up). The spammability of grenades + death throes + team wide grenade regen + Desperate Measures really fuels my drive. I alternate between Child of the Old Gods or Chaos Accelerant. Child can lock down areas pretty neatly with weaken AND ability regen for grenade clears of mobs while Chaos is good for just vortexing the heck out of something.
Depending on what your armor can handle high rift uptime for Child is nice and using things like Bolstering Detonation, Firepower, and Ashes to Assets can help mitigate stats in other depts.
Overall I think its pretty build craft worthy weapon that really can eek out some interesting set ups on void. I also got a neat little set up for Felwinter's too that Desperate Measures can feed off of.
i got a shiny repuslor and destablizing rounds roll that also has i believe are tap the trigger and frenzy. for my void build, and heal clip and incandesant summoner for my solar or just any build weapon as the heal clip saves me to many times
All Recluse needed was Rewind Rounds in third column if I were to use it as an Anti-Barrier weapon on Void Hunter… Rewind Target Lock and a dream
Repulser Brace/Frenzy definitely the play for Void build.
Outside of a Void build it currently doesn’t have anything to stand out. However, the chances of Master of Arms being buffed to some degree is very good.
Worth picking up but not something to prioritize over some of the other weapons.
Biggest fight ANY legendary primary outside of “fun play” is it has to compete with a couple handcannons that have been buffed that break the “exotic primaries do much more damage” mold in Midnight Coup and Zaoli’s Bane. Then it has to compete against exotic primaries like Sunshot and Graviton Lance for the two most obvious examples with a handful of others that are also fantastic. THEN it also needs to compete against special ammo exotics that you can easily build into depending on your subclass that do massive damage and feel like they have infinite ammo like certain traces rifles (any on Warlock with Cenotaph but arc probably being the easiest and most synergetic and Wavesplitter on Hunter) or either special exotic sidearm (truthfully Indebted Kindness works too). THEN it needs to compete against heavy machine guns because in most instances those rocket launchers and grenade launchers feel not as useful outside of baking bosses.
Doesn’t mean it’s not a good or even a great weapon in PvE. It just shows how by and large most legendary primaries have fallen by the wayside in power delta’ed content.
this gun broke my innocense, after years in love with my Title with mirror Tarrabah stats, swash-graverobber, being basically a insta ravenous beast on meele kills, and volatile rounds on grenades and plenty of class energy, and then comes this beast, 60 on both stability and range, targetlock and dynamic sway reduction, all hit activation buffs, and the passive movement boost, now i cant look back at my baby in the eyes without guilt

lol it was only a matter of time before my longtime main subclass was brought up in a video somewhere and it's this one, funnily enough i want to get a recluse to replace my funnelweb in this contraverse build with the exact same fragments because even if adrenaline junkie fits in perfect and is better, i just prefer the way recluse feels even though they're almost the same weapon, and repulsor brace and indominability are nice additions

I've been seeing a lot of people rule out Recluse cuz "funnelweb already exists" or try to play down Repulsor brace because "subsistance is better for it's use cases" but now my voidlock builds have been feeling so much better than before (was using word of crota with repulsor + destabilizing) since I got my god roll Recluse with repulsor + frenzy that it renewed my love for voidlock
Without echo of instability I found that subsistence/destabilising has been quite fun to use on my void hunter in onslaught with stylish executioner, think this thing has solid utility in pve if you build into the void sandbox
The repulsor roll with frenzy is exactly what I’ve wanted on gyrfalcon for so long. I run it with leviathans breath so I have a long range precision heavy hitter. Slap Tusk of the Boar or Until its Return in the kinetic slot this season for the Strand artifact perks.
The grensde/devour loop also works well with a demolitionist Gnawing Hunger AR that I have.
I have several excellent Funnel Webs and for whatever reason the Recluse just feels better. Maybe it's my nostalgia. I have a couple of ornaments, so I appreciate getting to use them again. I have repulsor brace frenzy that I like for PvE, repulsor - surrounded is also nice. Still looking for my favorite pvp roll - I have a couple that are pretty close, tough to differentiate. Frenzy doesn't feel like it is up enough in PvP. The roll I want to try is dynamic sway - master of arms.
I got that repulsive brace destabilizing rounds, I tried it with my gyrfalcons hunter and void warlock, it works, but I ended up liking my repulsive/onslaught auto riffle better, more range, hits harder because it's easy to to get onslaught x3 snd the explosive rounds are surprisingly useful, i does get less grenade energy, but I rarely need it to get volatile on hunter and warlock already get it fast enough for my liking.
I was sort of in the same camp looking at Recluse thinking that why would I use it when I already have a Subsistence/Frenzy Funnelweb with the Veist trait?
But I think you did a good job answering that question by showing that Recluse is more of a Void build craft weapon while the Funnelweb is going to be the one size fits all workhorse.
Ive been playing voidlock like this for ages, and I have the world drop auto with repulsor/onslaught. I find it really funny to see how a weapon that made me mad I could never get it before got power creeped so bad that i no longer need it at all

The Hero's burden shown within this video is not the heros burden we have today. In the 2nd park column we have destablizing rounds as well with it. I am not sure why light gg doesnt show the recently changed one since the rework in Season of the defiance, but you can get repulsor brace in the 1st column, with destablizing in the 2nd.
I honestly love this with repulsor brace and desperate measures. If I get one with repulsor and frenzy, I think I'll swap to that one
I had a repulsor with frenzy. I dropped my crafted age old bond for this because of the game loop this was able to provide. I can finally stop using grenade Kickstart and instead use surge mods so I can also boost my dmg for either edge transit or Leviathans breathe

This has been my void warlock build basically since witch queen except for the repulser brace weapon. Never really liked the perk but will have to give this a spin. Also, Nezzerac’s Sin is possibly even better since it grants energy to all abilities on void kills.

I got a shiny Repulsor + Frenzy that I can swap with Dynamic + Tap with ALSO a Tactical Mag + Accurized. Unfortunately a Handling MW but the thing is everything I ever wanted. Now I have a Recluse I can bring in anywhere, and once again never take off lol
Im personally looking for Threat Detector Target Lock, for PvP. Threat detector is pretty much on most of the time because with a SMG you'll be relatively close to enemies
Enlightened action has quickly turned into one of my favorite perks in the game since it was introduced. That paired with frenzy feels so nice together because I almost never have to worry about a gun feeling too slow in reload and handling.
You should do a video on farming specific brave weapon rolls.
For pvp, if you're using gyrfalcon with the proper aspects and fragments anyways, you win your gunfights far more and at a better range with funnel web. I have a 72 range w/ KW and RF.
Repulsor/Desperate Measures is really the only roll that I am looking for (voidwalker main).
I have had basically nothing but feeding frenzy/frenzy rolls though... I am not going to attune for Recluse, just going to check each roll that I get before dismantling

I wish that Echo of Instability wasn't a nonbo with Controlled Demolition. If a void detonation gets a final blow instead of the grenade you don't get the volatile rounds which can really mess with the loop. One of the things I hope bungie addresses in the future just for the fun factor.
My older Title has Threat Detector + Repulsor which I’ve used a lot and enjoyed. But if a Recluse with Repulsor + Frenzy were to drop I’d probably make the switch.

I am not one of the 10% of destiny 2 players that have ever set foot in a raid, and the even smaller % that has the gear from them.
onslaught is ok but an hour to wipe on mines or some other super fun mechanic kinda kills the fun tbh
The patch update said it fixed something with the BRAVE Recluse's reticle bounce. FEELS SO MUCH BETTER NOW.
I'm not sure if that means just "the new Recluse" or specifically the Shiny version (ornament named Brave Recluse). Either way.

The best thing i've done for myself in D2 is not to farm weapons too early and wait for CoolGuy's god rolls. Saves me a ton of time and effort. I'm too old for grinding stuff lol
I really hope it's possible to get Contraverse+Briars as a mix on the new FS class items. My voidlock would go off with that bad boy and a good recluse
Want to use Nezarec's Sin, Verity's Brow or Mantle of Battle Harmony with Recluse. Each one has synergy with Recluse.
Now with new Forbearance this week, I am Excited to get my Grenades back insanely quickly, Demo+Wellspring+Origin Trait. Then use the Fallen Sunstar with it for insane regen.
Took so long for a repulsor brace desperate measures roll to drop. Gonna try it in onslaught later cause even with 2 surge mods it doesn't hit hard

I feel like they should rework master of arms to give a stacking damage bonus one for each kill with all three weapon slots. Similar to rampage, perhaps with even higher damage per stack.
I've been preaching Repulsor ever since I got it with Demo on Undforgiven. Once I seen it rolled on Recluse I knew my roll.

Don’t sleep on Elsie’s Rifle with Repulsor/Adrenaline Junkie! It’s what Recluse can do but in Pulse Rifle form, and you’re constantly at x5 AJ with something like Contraverse. Both it and Recluse have honestly become some of my favorite void weapons.
I wish Elsie's, Hammerhead, or Recluse got the Demo/Wellspring combo. It feels like such a wasted oportunity to restrict the double ability energy perks to just Forbearance, when they would work so well with the origin trait.
Especially on void where you could have access to devour and Verity's
I couldn't help bit laughat the 8.30 to 8.40 is Mark you threw a magnetic grenade stuck right to a hives head just made me laugh where it landed LOL 😆
For the void ability spam builds you are mentioning here the real go to for 4th column perk has to be Desperate Measures since it goes to 20% with ability kills and goes to 30% after another ability kill, and it refreshes. You could do Frenzy for reload and handling benefits. But there is no reason whatsoever to do Master of Arms, other 2 perks outshine it significantly.
I think they should buff recluse a tiny bit just to make it hang a little better on the crucible, and all I’d do is give it 14 zoom. That little bit of stability and accuracy at range would help it a lot.

I only used the title because it had repulsor/destabilizing. I have some other weapons with that roll as well like doom of chelchis
I still have a seventh seraph sidearm with demo/vorpal that I still run on a voidlock. If you are in smg range then you are in sidearm range and they hit so hard
Got a RB/MoA roll that's been nice, but now I'm thinking about pairing it with good ole ugly Verity's Brow. Dusting off Hoil might also be in the cards.
Audio quality was a little bit different, but information is still at a peak.
The best weapons imo are the ones that everyone's complaning about, Hung Jury and Recluse. Great review.

I’d be curious to see how this plays with forerunner as your long range weapon in PVP on Gryfalcon hunter. Seems like it could be good.

Wonder if you’ll see this, but I have a build on Titan that is very similar. However, I swapped HoIL for severance enclosure. Throw grenade, volatile rounds everywhere, finisher or melee (cause I have an overshield from repulsor) explosions everywhere. It seems like the severance pairs with the volatile condition and spreads the severance enclosure explosion to all affected enemies. Would love to see someone break that down.
I’ll have to try it with my void warlock with Verity’s Brow. Normally I use Unforgiven with tricorn/demo.

My void warlock smg is Unforgiven with demo and adrenaline. Same concept you have basically, but I use handheld supernova to proc volatile and adrenaline x5 and start going to town. Devour and demo with adrenaline junkie on a void smg is just fuckin nasty.

I know its not quite in the same class, but I've been running my hunter on Gyrfalcons. I run it with Ros Arago with rewind and onslaught. I tried the recluse, and it just felt like a dime store version of Ros Arago - has more range, bigger mag, faster reload, more damage. It's hard to justify it, I feel.
Enlightened action, master of arms is my best roll so far and that makes up for its poor reload Stat

I just miss when damage perks were powerful, and you could tell they were active. Master of arms being 15% really shows how low they’ll go with these perks now
