    I lowered my cholesterol levels back to the normal range by following my doctor’s advice:
    Nothing from a cow
    Nothing from a pig
    Nothing fried
    No dairy
    In addition to that, I started eating oatmeal every morning for breakfast; no added sugar.
    For the most part, I have cut sugar out of my diet. I don’t consume any sugar whatsoever at home, and am very selective about what I eat at restaurants. My diet is also full of whole grains like oats and whole wheat bread, and I drink tea (no coffee).
    All of the above changes have improved my overall health as well as my voice.

    I drink peppermint tea and lots of water. I also use slippery elm lozenges between practice and worship which was recommended by health food store.

    Glad to know oatmilk and honey are okay.
    I can't go without cereal and coffee in the morning it's usually a full English breakfast for me but there's no time on Sunday.
    I'm changing this week! No more sweetened creamer in the coffee or dairy 🎤

    You are so right about dairy! I reversed GERD & got off my Rx Prevacid immediately after ditching dairy. I did an elimination diet & found out that dairy was the culprit. Sugar isn’t that good, either, but I consume it in moderation. I always sweeten my tea with organic Stevia that has no additives. I eat fruit, too.

    My recent go to is hot water with lemon and honey. Just water with lemon dries my throat out. I have to have that honey to keep it moist. I also have a singers throat spray which has honey in it.

    • @worshipvocalist

      All these things are great for the voice! The only thing I would say is - if you drink it, and it DOESN'T make your voice feel great, don't drink it! Sometimes we power through something because it's healthy, but don't actually listen to our individual body saying "I don't want that!"

    I find that I can drink the coffee with sugar and cream, as long as I drink water the night before, and that morning. I drink nothing but water, and one coffee in the morning every day. Maybe I’ll have another coffee after dinner if I ate too much. To be honest, I’ve never experienced having a tired voice. Is that even possible? Well, of course it is. Have you ever met someone else whose voice never gets tired?

    I used a Almond, Cashew & Macadamia milk and now I can't even think of using cow's milk. 🤔 It just doesn't taste good anymore. I am yet to find a good honey and leafy peppermint tea, instead of the ones available in the tea bags.

    What do you think about Pineapple juice?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally find that sugary juice (even natural sugars) increase mucus production, but others find that pineapple juice in particular helps decrease mucus! If it helps you, then go for it!

    Hi Charmaine, I'm Portugueses and I am loving to listen yours recomendations to Sing better. Thank you so much.
    Normally I drink natural orange juice every morning. Is that ok? For sundays too?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I would recommend sticking with straight water or watering down the orange juice quite a bit, as the citric acid is quite high in orange juice and it can be irritating to the voice. But it's great to get the vitamins in!

    Hey Charmaine! I regularly drink black coffee with sugar free vanilla syrup. That ok?

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend weaning off the syrup-it most likely has some sort of artificial sweetener/flavor in it, which are also not good for the voice!

  • @christylissettegarcia

    My voice is so dry (after practice ) that I am unable to sing appropriately during the actual worship (which is 45 minutes after practice)I drink at least 3 bottles during practice.

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Try to hydrate LOTS the day before and from the moment you wake up in the morning - be sipping water all the time as you get ready. When we drink water it doesn't "instantly" hydrate our voice, it takes some time, so once the throat feels dry there's no quick fix! But hydrating slowly over the morning can be much more effective! And make sure to completely cut out sugar in the morning, as that can contribute to the dryness.

    • @christylissettegarcia
      @christylissettegarcia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Worship Vocalist thanks for the advice. I will try that so that Sunday I will be ready.

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It often means you need to hydrate more throughout the day-and work on confidence, as the excess saliva production is sometimes related to nerves!

    I agree-dairy isn’t what you want to drink before singing. But (as a dairy farmer’s daughter) I would encourage you to learn the facts about milk and milk production from actual farmers and not propaganda blogs online. There is far less hormones in milk than soy beverage. And there aren’t any hormones added to it after the fact. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 If you don’t want to drink milk, great-that’s your choice! But don’t go around spreading blatant misinformation. I think we can agree that truthfulness is important.

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Heather! I agree that truthfulness is important of course! I do still hold to my opinions and the research I've done on the topic-but I know it's a highly controversial topic and don't wish to debate! :)

      I did an elimination diet & found out that dairy was the culprit. My GERD went away right after I ditched dairy, & I no longer have to take Rx Prevacid. I use plant-based milks. Dairy causes acid reflux, bloating & stomach cramps that last for hours after I eat even a little dairy. It’s a real problem.
