I highly recommend using the services provided by Troy to remove the paint chips from your fuel pumps. My engine had a low pressure pump issue. My local boat dealer wanted to charge me over $1600 to replace the fuel pumps (low and high). I sent everything to Troy following his step by step instructions. Within a very short time I received the whole assembly back completely cleaned and with new high and low pressure pumps. I installed it and the boat runs great! Troy will reply to to your emails and answer all questions and best of all it was all under $400. Thank you Troy for your service and videos. You really saved me a lot of $$$.

Hey, thank you for the great videos. I am about to change a fuel pump assembly on a 4.3 Volvo penta today. On the electrical connectors you do not have to take metal clip off, but push them in and it makes it so you do not have to pull them out and possibly lose them, like I did so many times. I learned that this week working on my 89 VW Cabriolet. I will be sending you my old fuel pump assembly to rebuild next week. Thank you again for the videos.

I just installed my "mancave mechanic refurbished" fuel pump on my boat. Aside from one of the mounting bolts giving me a bit of a problem the process was exactly as you described. Thanks for the service and the videos!

Great info and video... except for the blasting loud music. Yikes. Since I had the volume turned all the way up on my laptop to hear the commentary, it scared my wife sitting across from me at the dinner table the first time a section of music hit. Definitely keep music volume at a minimum when creating these. Thanks.

Great series of videos to help with the V/P pump issues. I had never seen one of these taken apart before. My old boat (1988 OMC 4.3 V6 4bbl carb) has a mechanical pump (Carter) that I just replaced because I was finding some gas in the yellow safety overflow hose). It lasted 30 years! Thanks, now I know what I might be in for if I upgraded to a newer boat...
I have to say I prefer the mechanical pump and Quadrajet 4bbl carb (very easy to rebuild)

Great vidoes, the electric plugs are much more simple than you describe though. You merely press in the metal bar and then pull the plug apart to remove, and then to install you merely press the plugs together while the metal clip is already installed and it pops into place easily. There is no reason to ever remove the metal clip. Thank you again!

I assume it would be a good idea to check and clean the Fuel Pressure Regulator screens while installing a replacement Fuel Pump Assembly. I will do that when installing the new pump assembly I purchased from your website. Clogged screens kept my motor from starting which led me to finding your videos and website. After cleaning the screens, the motor ran ok but I decided to replace the OE pump assembly out of fear of getting stuck on the water. Thanks for the great info and videos.

Great video, a suggestion, should always use a fuel line wrench. Brass is soft and I have seen so many of those nuts rounded out because people use a regular open box wrench.

The electrical connections are easier to connect an disconnect if you simply push the metal clip rather that remove it.

I have a 2008 Four Winns H220SS 5.7 300GI with a what it seems very common whiny fuel pump, I had my mechanic come out and empty out the gas tank and clear the lines of old gas. When he reinstalled everything he told me the gas pump was shot, done, kaput. Is that the only priming you did or is there additional priming needed if high pressure fuel lines are removed? How much did you pay for that new pump? If you can add a link I would much appreciate one with the no paint inside the pump. Thanks subscribed it was fun watching someone else work on my engine. Also, what do you use to clean your engine bay much cleaner than mine! Thanks for your help.

Is there a separate fuel regulator on the fuel rail or is that function built in the pump assembly?

Replaced my low pressure and high pressure fuel pumps in my Penta 7.5 (during 12-15knots of wind LOL) Different than this video, the low pressure is up front and easy to access while the high pressure is in the very back of the engine. Finally got it replaced and engine started for a while then choked out. Could this be the shraeder valve? Would I prime (with key) then release air from the valve, several times over? Any other thoughts?

Can you let us know if there’s a difference between a
    Volvo Penta TBI & MPI
Fuel pump and how do you test fuel pressure on a TBI which I have.
I purchased a new pump on Amazon and It did not correct my problem.
I get to 2500 rpm and it just Boggs the same as when I had my old Volvo pump in it. No whining from my old or new pump.
A mechanic today said it’s my fuel pump.

    • @corralgang
      @corralgang 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I had both the injectors cleaned replaced fuel regulator and cleaned complete throttle body.
The mechanic said he just tested a aftermarket pump it was reading 30 psi but wasn’t delivering 30 psi of fuel.
      I’m lost !
      No engine codes.

Mine is starting to make the infamous whining sound. I’ve read several reviews on the paint flaking problem.
I noticed you said yours doesn’t have the inner paint and you want have to worry about that problem anymore.
    How did you fix that?
Did you buy a rebuilt one ?
    Any suggestions for me ?
Thanks for your input and for your video.

Maybe the fuel tube is blocked. Try attaching a tube from the fuel pump to a gas can to see if it draws. If it does then you may have a problem with your anti-syphon valve
