If you are joining a pipefitter apprenticeship day 1 bring a tape measure, a pocket level, a pen, a sharpie, soapstone, and a notepad. They will appreciate it
looking forward to hearing about the process for joining brother that's what stage I'm at. I appreciate your content man, hoping to move out to maryland with my Fiance and start my apprenticeship out there with the United Association Apprentice program. My fiance and I are thinking of starting a family I'm 23 and the pay sounds great I need to provide homie it's my obligation.
That situation sound almost like mine! I got married at 21 I'm now starting my career in the union at 25 (I have a 1 year old) I'm pulling through this program so my family can live comfortably, and you are right! It is our obligation. I hope it all works out for you brother🙏
Could you make a video on the application process please? And also thanks for this vid I’m planning on getting into it after hs since there is a program near me for 5 years that takes you from no experience to journeyman so I want to do that and it’s nice to see this vid and get more insight
I will say that the application process was pretty straight forward, once you apply, you will be given instructions to bring identification and references, and after that you will take a mechanical test/math test, if you passed, you will get called to an interview!
Im trying to get into the local here in PA, my sisters husband is in charge of the apprentices or something like that. I really need this opportunity, mainly because up to this point ive fucked my life up😂 evenThough i really need it, i was nervous when she mentioned it mainly because i don't know shit and like you i have zero experience with the trades. Anyway good luck.
He's most likely the training director for that hall, which is awesome because it comes in handy knowing someone! If you see an opportunity You TAKE IT!
Overtime is offered when it's really needed , depends on the length of the job, usually when you need to meet and finish a job by a specific date.. I'm 3 months in, and I haven't had any issues with lay off, That's one of the things I questioned alot before joining, it really had me second guessing everything.. BUT there were so much more pros then cons.. I thought to myself "I could either stay in this warehouse job, or actually go learn a Valuable skill in the trades" lay offs will happen, depending on how busy your area is, but I just kinda hammered in my head, that its just part of the gig, when you get hired, work hard, get your name out there and you'll always be employed, and years from now you'll laugh at the fact you even second guessed yourself!
In my experience so far, If your laid off as an apprentice then either work is really dried up or you gave them a reason to lay you off. So far I’m half way through my 3rd year and I haven’t been laid off yet.
Just go to your local and bring a transcript, ged or diploma and an id. Also bring your welding experience and chances are you'll be hired on the spot. Still probably have to do the 5 year before you become full journeyman. That's how it was for me.
Four minutes into an eight minute video you haven’t even started talking about your experience instead you are talking about parking, you are a certified yapper

I am trying to find a job as plumber apperentice . do i need to start work as plumber helper in order to become apprentice? I live i canada though.
need more vids asap interview w questions maybe clothes you wear would be cool to
Noted!👍
Did u have to pay anything out of pocket for the training
In local 469, here in Arizona tuition is free. They pay you to go to school. I don't know if that applies to all UA schools.
The training at my local is free, but it actually depends on your locals
You have to pay book fees and semester fees still
Im joining the union as a 3rd year apprentice. Im worried about layoffs. Have you had any issues with that? And do they offer overtime?

How long is the apprenticeship
It's 5 years
No more vids ?
It's coming. Already recorded. Just doing a few touches
How long did it take you to get on a job
It took me 9 months to get on a job. It also just depends on how busy your area is.
Can i join a union without going to the apprenticeship program ive been welding since 2014
But i need pipe experience which I'm working on
Yes you can still join the union, someone recently joined and all they've done is weld, and of course a fitter will fit the pipe, for the welder.
@Pipingv1king how do I go about doing that what do I tell them

If you are a good enough welder you can just test in, go to the hall and see about taking a test
That suspiciously looks like asbestos behind you.
It's 100% asbestos insulation.
