BEST HAIR VIDEO, of any kind, I have Ever Watched!!... and I watch a ton of 'em😉 I learned so much about why, the three times, I attempted to get your results with 'High End' professional salon 'Owners' never came out looking like my vision. Worse, I've lost 6" of lenght, received bi level 'in error', been an orange, hair turned to straw and lots of breakage. I do have a knack and talent for this kind of thing and have been cutting/coloring my own hair for over 10 years. I know I wouldn't do this one by myself but that's ok. My hair looked like Amanda’s hair prior to her transformation. It was SO CURLY when I was a kid all the way to 19 years of age. Then, I found out what bleach and straightening were. Slowly but surely, my hair curl left, until one day someone used an adjective to describe my hair.
WAVY. Wavy?! When did I go from beautiful ringlets to WAVES?! It was a sad day.
Since following your videos, I’m wanting to see how YOU CUT AND STYLE YOUR SEESTER’S HAIR! Also, maybe a longer, thicker hair tutorial on air drying for those of us who are long, thick, curly, and don’t want any heat damage without going for the whole cut.
I haven’t found a stylist to cut my hair, yet. I think that’s important, too-or is it? I don’t trust people with my hair anymore. Help! (And thanks again!)
Hey! Thanks for sharing your experiences, also glad to read we are not the only weird seester's that call each-other seester haha! But in regards to finding a stylist to cut your hair, they don't exactly need to specialize in curly hair but they most defiantly should have some experience with it. Really investigate who does your curls. Don't be afraid to interview your stylists during consultations as well as stalk them on instagram etc. You may find this video helpful ! It looks so good!! I have the same hair type as Amanda. Mine looks more similar to her older pictures right now.
My hair was extremely healthy a year and a half ago after growing out for over a year after a major chop.
I had to get it cut due to an extreme knot that formed over a month or more of me having seizures, being depressed and trying to deal with agonizing 24/7 physical pain. I wouldn’t let anyone take care of my hair and I couldn’t...it was an awful situation. When I finally tried giving my hair the attention it desperately needed it was too late! My dad tried getting the knot out for 2 weeks. I finally went to a salon where they attempted to get the knot out and even offered to cut it for free. I had a massive panic attack and went back home...about a week later I went to another salon where they got out as much of the knot as possible but in the end it had to be cut short. They worked on it for HOURS trying to save as much hair as possible. It was all just awful but I ended up with short hair dyed a really pretty auburn color.
Then by April last year it had grown out really fast and I wanted highlights. My fiancé got me a GC to get my hair done at a very high end salon. The girl who ended up doing my hair completely messed it up. I was devastated. I had PTSD from my big chop so that didn’t help the situation. The salon owner was extremely unprofessional while handling the situation.
I had 7+ years working in the Spa industry over half I was the assistant director at a top 100 spa in North America. I got diagnosed with CRPS (full body) so I haven’t been able to work in about 5yrs. Anyways, I went back to the salon that messed up my long healthy hair (no refunds) a month later and after so much drama with the owner I was seen by the best colorist there (the girl who messed up my hair “quit”). She fixed what she could but y’all know the damage was already done. The color looked great but I wish I’d never gone in the first place.
I’ve since been taking care of my hair the best I can...no heat, I wash it 1-2xs a week, use quality products etc. I rarely wore my hair curly before I got sick but now I don’t have the energy to even mess with it. So I started embracing my curls again. The highlights have grown out significantly but there’s no harsh line because balayage. I really don’t want to dye it dark brown (my natural color) but I don’t trust any stylist to touch up my roots without causing damage. Yet something needs to be done cause I’m not liking the grown out highlight look. 😩
Sorry for the long post but thanks for reading it...I haven’t talked about my hair situation in a very long time and clearly needed to get it off my chest.

Yes please on the hair cutting vid! How do you cut long curly hair so it stays long but still has volume and curls? When I try to look up tips on this, all the advice is just to give up on wearing it long and just keep it in a short cut. I always cut my own hair, because no one seems to know what they're doing. Sorry for the rant, just some curly frustration leaking out, lol

You are so informative and have a wonderful sense of humor. Thank you. You probably need to set my hair to know but my hair is thin, baby fine, gets oily quickly and easily and rule more when it's humid. It is natural curly/wavy depending the weather. What would you suggest I use on it? It hasn't been colored for at least 6 months. I rarely use heat. I've started using curly girl approved shampoos and conditioner. I can't go more than 2days without washing before it looks oily.
