  • I spent hours trying to remove my seat post which was totally stuck. Tried everything and looked at heaps of videos on TH-cam. Then I discovered a simple solution from one of my clients.
*no responsibility taken for anyone who damages their bike. I’m not a bike mechanic. Just trying to be helpful

Have had my bike for almost a year and have managed with this clamp design, but always with a lot of hassle. You're a lifesaver for pointing this out, thanks.

My god dude after wrestling with my seat post, doing this with the lightest tap of the hammer freed it instantly. You're a legend!

I know right? it's such a frustrating problem! Whenever I do bike fits on new bikes, I take the clamp and post out, and give it all a good greasing. Then educate the rider on this little trick. Hopefully I've stopped a lot of hair pulling since!

You deserve some kind of humanitarian award for this video mate. Just loosen that hex screw a bit and then a gentle tap on top (I used the end of a screwdriver) and voila!

This video was super helpful. Seeing the mechanism holding the seat post into the frame was key in figuring how to loosen it and get the seat post out. You saved me a lot of time and energy. Thanks for the video.

Perfect! Excellent video. Yes, it is that simple. Also, if it helps, when I tapped the wedge/clamp, I heard a click from the wedge/clamp -- as if I had knocked something loose -- and it turned out that that was the sound that told me my seat post was ready to be easily moved.

Another option... Once the bolt is loosened as far as it can go, without it detaching from the wedge, try giving the seat a good firm twist from side to side rather than trying to pull it up.

What did you use to help it loosen it up. I’ve tried hitting the bolt with a hammer. I’m being careful when hitting it with a hammer. Did you use some liquid to help loosen it up? I’ve tried 3-in-1d oil. Any ideas?

    • @physi_inq_engadine_sutherland

oh no! that's probably carbon on carbon adhesion. For any new bike that I work on, I always take the seat post out and use a carbon paste to stop this from happening. Hope you managed to get it sorted!
