    I love this. I can’t wait to see the bottle and the upstairs upstairs, though I don’t recall ever watching any episodes of the upstairs.

      I hadn't remembered the upstairs either until I was rewatching episodes for this. It was Tony's den/office and the space is really interesting since it's built into the pitch of the roof.

    You do such a beautiful job with these videos showing us parts of the house and yard we never saw on the show but with a house like this, I always kind of wondered why there was only 1 bedroom instead of 2.

      What I was thinking was that Tony might be, one of those bachelors for life. So he didnt need any extra rooms. If anything, depending on the upstairs, (can't wait to see it) he could convert that to an extra room.

    • @mikecroaro519
      @mikecroaro519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe the upstairs was intended to be another bedroom.

      @@mikecroaro519 possibly. We were only ever shown his office up there, but it could have easily had room for a bedroom too. I'll be showing that in part 2.

    I had no idea Tony lived in a 'tiny house'. He was making some coin as an early astronaut. If I was him, any house this small that I lived in would have to be right on the beach. Anyway, I mainly can't believe the washer/dryer was in the kitchen, rather than backed against the plumbing wall in the space between the master bedroom and the bathroom. A wall there with a door would have been a satisfactory separation. And the sound of a dryer running is very soothing. It would help you sleep.
    BTW, these videos, from the shooting, editing, effects, trivia, even your narration, are all first rate. They could be very basic, but you make them so fun. Thank You!

    I cannot believe I found your work. It is beyond what the advertisers want to push. Regardless of the era, it all works in modern times one way or another. This helps me because after 28 years in my home I have been led to believe I must get rid of my stuff. A cursory research revealed I have valuable things. Some are relatively new things, not antiques. Desirable things. Things that are beautiful in today's decorative scene. The brainwashing is intense. You have a keen eye. Your perspective is timeless. Look forward to more presentations!

      Thank you for the kind words. Even though this comment is below the tour of the I Dream of Jeannie house, I am assuming your comments are about my design episodes [Cinematically Inspired Design] that are also on this channel. If not, it sounds like you'd enjoy them.
      I love that you realized you have things in your home that are beautiful and make you happy despite others perhaps thinking the length of time you've had them means it's time to get rid of them. 😊

    As always, what a wonderful job on this video about IDOJ, yes the house went through some interesting changes over time on the show, when the show went to color for the 2nd season, so did the wall in the living room from the kitchen, it was a flat wall, then came season 3 &4, that's the way we all remember the living room and everything else that you mentioned, but until the change in season 5, the house still temporarily retained the same look, but doesn't it blow your mind that it was the Anderson's house on FKB, so to compare the two from one show to another, quite a difference. This also shows how the house from Bewitched was only the garage, and became the house we've known for the 8 seasons including the second episode shows it as a house, but add all the features that came & went, it remained fabulous!!! As a car enthusiast, there's something you might not have been aware of, & that is, is that period Chevy print ads were done at the ranch facility during the late sixties and early seventies, the most perfect example is for the 70 Chevy Chevelle SS parked across from the Nelson/Anderson house, with the Partridge Family house promanantly displayed next door, just call it background research as well as careful observation!! I can't wait for part 2 which will be the upstairs, & the bottle of Jeannie's, keep up the great work, I just thought about 2 other houses that would be cool to do, the house used on Gidget/Hazel, & the Partridge Family house, oh no, 2 more just came to mind, but it's one show that also ended up with 2 different houses, My 3 Sons!! Oops, I shouldn't have thought of the Cleavers at the moment, so many TV shows, so many houses!!!

    Love it, can't wait for part 2. As I recall, I only remember Tony's bedroom and the upstairs room into his office. If so then his house wasn't very big to begin with. Such fun to see the house this way. This had to have been a labor of love. I like some of the art in Tony's home. One day I want to reproduce the two little Asian dagger paintings that are in the living room and give them to my partner as a gift. I need to find an episode where they are featured very prominently, of course, to save a still image and then copy those designs in paintings.
    Sometimes really wacky stuff happened in that house. I love when Doctor Bellows mutters "You're camping in your living room" in a bewildered way as he and his wife drop by suddenly to discover a tent, campfire, tree and babbling brook. And Amanda is beaming and says, "I think it's marvelous. Alfred, why don't _we_ ever do anything like this?" She's so into it!

    SO many things going on with this TV home, where do I begin?! I don't want to forget to mention how much I LOVE the headboard on Tony's bed. The shapes are so so reflective of that era. I know it's a pretty insignificant prop, but I love it. Again, I so love your investigative work, Marina. I think this kind of obsession is so much fun. You mention all the red tchotchkes and artifacts dotted throughout the home. I NEVER NOTICED THAT BEFORE! I still didn't quite catch the significance of that in your explanation, but it certainly piqued my interest. I also love how you were able to fashion those groovy late-60's-esq plastic windows that separate the kitchen from the dining room. You saw those a lot in homes of the mid-to-late 1960's, and I always thought they were neat. Another wonderful touch here is that I could see homes across the street as we were panning through the house. Such a nice touch! One of the things I find so interesting about this particular TV house is how the layout is slightly obscure. You have to really go through each and every episode with a fine tooth comb to get a feeling of what the floor plan would have been. Viewing audiences back then probably would not have cared, and what was more important was the characters and the story. I love how they used the Major's home to sort of "nestle" or "frame" the characters into the story. Except the "frame," so to speak, is very ornate, and decorated strategically. I think the Parent Trap house exemplified this beautifully. Does that make any sense? I guess I've always had a basic idea of what the layout looked like for the major's house, but it all felt more subconscious. Lots of POV's uncovered here that I never gave a second thought. This video came with some nice surprises, Marina.

      I love hearing the things you caught in the video. I, too remembered the house from the show, but was so surprised when I pieced it all together and got to see the flow - how it all fit together. In fact, when I did my first initial walk through and came around the corner to see the fireplace wall and shelves, I actually gasped! It was such amazing set design, I wish they would have shot more scenes with the fireplace and the open shelving in the background. I like how you worded that - they "framed" the characters in the home. I like thinking we can do that in our own homes too. Thanks for your comments.
