    Great work and just shows what you find when removing rust and how far it can go, in the inner arches and wings. Enjoying these videos too.

      Thank you John! Absolutely, it was a case of unwanted, but not unexpected sadly in this instance! Inners had gone further than anticipated mind you as they'd been patched in the past which hid a fair few areas!

    Thank you Jay for the update. Great to see the car is coming along and love the attention to detail 👍💕

      Of course Jamie! 😊 we're getting there, unwanted but expected is how I described it I think! 😂

    I really enjoyed watching this. JM makes it look so easy. I dread to think how Pinky would have ended up if RS Jamie hadn't bought it and decide to invest heavily in its restoration, given the amount of problems hidden beneath the surface.

      I really appreciate that mate thank you so much! This youtube business is new to us, and I'm not the most comfortable with it but we're doing our best! Videos seem mostly well received and comments like this keep me going! Thanks! 😊

    Those front wings will be a real patchwork job. They're from an F2 kit car, so they're based on Escort Cosworth wings, but were chopped and widened (the F2 kit car was wider than a Cosworth). They were then modified further for the Max Power build; adding the MK6 side repeater and the two additional lines. The rears are probably similar, as they were also modified Cosworth parts.

      Thanks mate, fascinating! Explains a lot too, there are several visible seams inside the wing etc but unclear till now as to why! We're only really addressing the areas with obvious issues, bit of rust creeping through some of the welds that I've dealt with etc 👍

      @@jmdetails no problem. Lots of misinformation out there about the RS2000 rally cars, so not always easy figuring things out! I think they were sliced along the main swage line and widened. All done by hand though, so probably all slightly different in reality. I probably have some pictures of the panels somewhere

    Top work mate, the only improvement you could do is spray those bare metal parts with weld through primer that you can’t access once it welded. Protects against rust.

    • @jmdetails
      @jmdetails  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They've been done, and done again with epoxy once welded, and will be just about access for a cavity spray too when complete! 😊

    cracking fab work, the old fords are always hiding something under the paint but at least its all being sorted properly

      We're doing what we can! Always a few hidden areas on any build aren't there 😊

      I do believe you may have a clue on some of the front wing/under dash photos! 😆😆

    Great work, what is the electrical connection in the wing for?

    • @jmdetails
      @jmdetails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Car won't have external locks in future, just electric pops. So, in case of the battery draining I believe!

  • @alw968

    good video it coming along good, what the electrical connector for?

    • @jmdetails
      @jmdetails  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you mate, you'll have to check in with Kev's videos over at @mrmspeedshop for that, I believe it's a battery connector to plug in and restore power to the car if needed (in the event of a flat battery), as it will eventually have electric pop locks, no physical external lock!

  • @michaelbolt4530

    What made you look inside the body to find that rusty bit that Kev highlighted, great content aswell

    • @jmdetails
      @jmdetails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate, appreciate you following along 😊 there were clear signs of rust on the outer so it was always a case of digging that back and seeing how far it went. Wasn't anticipating the inner to be affected as it actually felt good from the back, but patched, so it was hiding issues!

    Brave man welding on a TH-cam channel 😂 there's always a LOT of negative comments whenever there's welding being done.
    Top job though. Really enjoying seeing your work on the car.

      I know right! But you know what, always different ways to do things, and this is the way I've done it! I've got nothing to hide so if they don't like it, they can go complain on another channel 😂 Thanks Matt, appreciated mate!! 😊

    Ooof… I think many body-filler companies went bankrupt after the modified car scene died-off… 😂
