    For semi-bespoke shoes and having very challenging wide feet, the two Saint Crispin’s that I have commissioned have remarkable fit and support. It will be interesting how they compare to the Cleverley’s that I expect in a few months. Sadly the other manufacturers don’t offer the same fit customization. Having the options to create your own style definitely makes all the difference. Great video.

      Thank you! I won’t deny that StC fit me really well. Though I have had better fits in rtw shoes. The ability to make your own last and add modifications is surely great. I will be reviewing soon a pair from Petru & Claymoor in a very similar style from the same area so I am curious to see how they compare!

    Thank you Kostos! Excellent video - I appreciate your honest evaluation and especially your discussion of proportions and aesthetics. I will say I own a pair of Saint Crispin’s adelaides and they are truly wonderful shoes.

      You are welcome and thank you for watching! I think I was mostly positive while discussing some parts that I didn’t like about the aesthetics or I would have chose differently. Adelaide oxfords are my favorite style of shoe alongside double monks!

      @@MisiuAcademy lol, don't know what that says about me that my eye was drawn to that! Should have been looking at those split toes! Seriously, I think split toe derby has become my fave style of shoe. It does seem to be 'a la mode'; I hope it stays around as I'm thinking that about 5 years ago double monks were all the rage!

    Hi,
    In regards to what you say about the leather being thin and show creases faster. Does it apply to suede as well?

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You won’t notice creasing on suede as much. There are two types of suede (in a very simple description) from the split part or the full grain part. They would display different properties I assume but I’m not an expert yet.

    I guess this is the perfect representation of the famous principle of diminishing returns. Good looking shoe, but not astonishing looking shoe, which for the price is something one could ask for. The brand doesn't have the history of John Lobb or Edward Green nor the elegance of Gaziano & Girling which could somehow justify the price tag.
    It would be a hard pass for me at this price. Especially when brands like Yeossal or Meccariello offer the same quality for less than half the price.
    Keep the videos coming my friend 👌

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I don’t like the looks of Edward green or John lobb actually or would pay this money for machine stitched shoes. So I don’t agree with you. Yeossal might be better “value” but please, they are not even close. Meccariello is my top choice.

    • @KMaybach1
      @KMaybach1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you, I was quite excited when I heard that a shop near my home would carry Saint Crispins but was disappointed when I checked them out. Similar to the shoes in the video the shoes looked really chunky with little refinement. Where I live the shoes are only offered MTO. I would need a customized last, cause not only the look but also the fit was terrible for my feet. To insure that the fit is great, the sales rep suggested to get a trial shoe. In case that something would need to be changed something like more than two minor things, I would get charged extra. So with everything suggested and not to forget the charge for the shoe trees, price would be around 2.5K US Dollars. A price I could never justify for these shoes

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you plan to make 2-3 shoes with StC it’s worth to get your own custom last as you waive the fee In the future. For those prices however I can get something I enjoy more :)

    Simon doesn't have a clue about shoes - look at his George Cleverly's! He knows a hell of a lot about bespoke clothes but his shoe knowledge is a major blindspot.

    • @MisiuAcademy
      @MisiuAcademy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there Graham,
      I am sure he has a lot of knowledge about certain topics and in the end just voices his opinion just like I do. My experience was so much different than what he mentioned. I intend to go to shoemaking school next year so I can understand properly all aspects of a shoe.
      For "influencers" and most bloggers I see that they are just fans or enthusiasts and lack knowledge when it comes to shoes. Check out Brian Sacawa for example who is such a well dressed man. His shoe collection is rather lackluster compared to the suits he might wear.
      In any case, thank you so much for watching! New video is just up!

      @@MisiuAcademy I rate Simon very highly; if we are having discussion clothes, he is a great resource. However, he knows very little about shoes and most the shoes he actually purchases have major flaws. Look up his Cleverly Russian reindeer double monks - they are an absolute joke, but he loves them! I have followed you for a while and really respect your opinion on shoes. you got me into Paolo Scafora and I am seriously considering buying a pair of split toes on the Noble Shoe. BTW - how are you quite a a bit cheaper than the PS website itself, its great value! Keep up the good work - you have a great YT channel and really good business which I will support in the future.

    On your website in your shoe brand roundup you put Saint Crispin’s into your second worst „D category“ which you describe as „this excrement should be avoided“. At the same time the shoes of Saint Crispin’s apparently manage to get into your own „top 10“ lists repeatedly. This makes no sense to me at all. As far as I know (and you state yourself) Saint Crispin’s belong to the very best shoes in the world quality-wise. The pair is own has nothing on it that makes me think otherwise.

      Hi Andreas, apart from some of the comedic relief of that article (which of course in bot for everyone’s taste), the shoes are overall pretty good and worth of top lists. Some of those lists might have been written before I had a very hands on experience. I found the leather sub par (for what I like) and there are better shoes for the price (in my opinion again). The shoes I just got from Acme are much more appealing to my taste and also quality wise, now that I make bespoke shoes by hand myself. I also didn’t like the fact so much that the owner attacked a random commenter here on a simple video.
      If the shoes fit you well and are to your taste, that’s what’s important. In short, my rating is more about the fact that I don’t like the looks much or the overall construction and certain elements compared to what I can buy from other similarly priced brands. Plus, you can get the exact same shoes by Zonkey Boot.
      Sorry, I’m on mobile.

      If you are an expert like you say then please accept my polite opinion that your take on SC is too much influenced by your personal preferences. This kind of review is sadly not really helpful if someone like me (not an expert) is interested in objective signs of quality. But that’s fine, I will look into less funny information.

    Very nice crafted shoes. But Blucher shoes are just not relevant dress shoes. Or for that matter a regular Derby. Notwithstanding the price or who makes them. And every version of split toes just look bad and really detract and distract an outfit. To me, if you're wearing dress shoes its for a reason. Either go with an Oxford for formal dress, or an Oxford or Derby brogue ( prefer Oxford) to dress up a more casual look. Casual dress shoes fall into an unnecessary no-man's land of this area, just like dress shoes with sneaker soles - they're a solution looking for a problem that doesn't or shouldn't exist - so don’t bother. There's no scenario when I'd use these Bluchers to "dress down" a dressy outfit, or "kind of” dress up a casual outfit with “kind of” more casual dress shoes. I know some guys like them for whatever reason. But go all in and the entire outfit will look much better.

      Let’s agree to disagree. Split toe derbies are not for everyone you either like them or hate them usually. Style and rules are meant to be broken or experimented with but in the end it’s all personal! Wear what you think is best for you!
