Soul Calibur is my favorite fighting game. I knew about it when I was in the hospital because of an accident. I played it everyday on my PSP. I'm glad they gave us the 6th.
The main reason I liked Soul Calibur V was just the customization. Spending hours refining a character concept is pretty fun to share with friends, which is something you might not be able to fully communicate with just writing a story or doing a drawing. Started doing that in 2012, and I still haven't used up all 50 slots or deleted a character.
That's my favorite part too. I had all 50 slots full of some great ass characters like Kurt Cobain and Woody and the Hash Slinging Slasher, I just liked playing online to show off my creations. Can't wait to see what the create-a-character is like in SC6

The reason I favor Soul Calibre more than my other two favorites, Street Fighter, and Tekken, is because of the side-stepping feature. It makes the match very three-dimensional, and most opponents aren't thinking in those terms, so you can literally side-step after an exchange of blows and if your opponent doesn't catch it, you can finish him/her in short order. :-)
Do you know if it works the same way? You know with attacking the towers and controlling every character and having different objectives? Because if so im ready the blow my money, chronicles of the sword is probably my favorite thing to play ever.

I repeat, there are no unlocks. The only way to unlock more items atm is buying the season pass, which will give you literally 100 new items for custom characters,no,I'm not fucking joking.
Looking back on this, SC series remains my favorite fighting game series. I've played MC, Tekken, SF yada yada. But they just didn't stick like SC does.
Loved soul caliber 2 on the game cube and 3 on the PlayStation 4 was ok but 5 was hot garbage. 6 has me excited again and I got the collectors edition as well cause I can never find soul caliber stuff
I'm really glad to say that I've already bought it. What I miss from the game is everything that has ever been cut from a previous SoulCalibur game. The characters, gallery, stage descriptions, battle theatre, fatalities, that part at the end where it says "The legend will never die" and then the screen fades to black while you punch in random attacks. Unlocking stuff, the tower of souls, Weapons breaking in Soul Blade, the story mode from 3 where you could wind up in a secret battle with the secret character Night Terror, The custom fighting styles for the character creator etc. I think what i miss the most is the character creation mode from IV though as it had a lot of really nice pieces that were cut for this new one and I always enjoyed the contrast between how epic some characters could look while you make some look absolutely ridiculous to match gauges etc. even if just for a specific fight. I really loved that though I hear some didn't. I want to see if there is more gear to unlock for this creation mode before I bemoan it too much though I think that what we see is what we'll get. I think the only thing I haven't been crazy about is the part of the story where they decide that Soul Calibur was a part of Soul Edge and could either be compatible with or was necessary to be destroyed in order to destroy Soul Edge.
I'm definitely going to buy SC6. As for what my favorite game mode of past Soul Caliburs was, it was from Soul Calibur 3 I believe, was called Chronicles of the Sword or something like that. It was the game mode where you have to take and enter bases and each character had their own special properties. It was such a weird mode to see in a game mode but I loved it and played the hell out of it lol. Kind of like the old gamecube game Yugioh Falsebound Kingdom, it was so different from what you'd expect from the series.
Talim is my favorite character and has been since Soulcalibur II days when I was a kid. I was so upset when SCV came out and not only did they not have Talim (cause it was in the future with like apprentices), they also completely abandoned her style. Like Xianghua was represented through Leixia and Cassandra and Sophitia through Pyrrha and Patroklas, but Talim had no representation with her elbow blades and her fighting style at all. I am so excited to be able to play as Talim again.
Dude, the speed of play is so much better than previous entries. I love that it went back to retell the story from the beginning, with all the original characters and not Xiba, Natsu and Leixia from 5. Didn’t get to play more than a couple of hours tonight (pre ordered the deluxe edition on PS4) and I’m debating calling out from work tomorrow just to play more 😅
I fell in love with the fighting in SCIV because it was easy to get into and didn’t have the somewhat steep learning curve of some other fighting games. (My opinion anyway). I loved the character creation and the way the story was told as you go through the story of what’s happening with each character. My favourite part was the soul link I think it was called where you could go around and see the premise of all the characters stories and how the interconnected. I loved that especially. With V the story did feel more focused however I missed the variety from four as a result of it just focusing on Pyrrha and Patrokles or however they’re spelt. All in all I’m excited for six and I hope to buy it soon.
I’ve been playing the soul Calibur Siri ever since I first saw it in the arcade. I believe at that time it was called Sol edge. I’m playing through this one because I get it for free with my PlayStation plus membership. And even if I didn’t, I would probably purchase it. It is as awesome and fun as I remember the series to be. I’m looking forward to meeting the game and digging out with it. Lol.
The last Soul Calibur game i played was 3. So hopefully It's good. My buddy and i use to play the second one all the time! Not huge fighting game fight but, this is an acception.
I played this game so much with my older brother growing up, I'll have to buy this one at some point! Our favorite weapons were the wave swords and grieve edge which I don't remember being in the game past SC3 (I played 4 for a little while but that was it) but there's too much nostalgia to pass this up!
the 8-way run feature is what gives SC the edge over all the other 3d fighters, including Tekken (the best one). It's such a free-flowing game, and having character customization (even if it's minor) is a huge huge huge huge huge deal. It has infinite replayability for me and I will *always* buy a new SC game.
My literal only complaint is the lack of items in character creation, definitely not deal breaking just suuuper disappointing. This game seems like it'll sell well (i hope it smashes publisher/dev expectations) so hopefully they'll support the game with more content over time
Carnege50 they’re coming out with 300 more items for it here soon, but I think that’ll be it for now. Honestly, that’s my only complaint as of now too.
SoulCalibur is a good fighting game series. I love how it has guest characters in most of their games. I feel SoulCalibur is on par with other fighting games. SoulCalibur has been going since the dreamcaster like he said so you can't say you've never once heard of it if you're a gamer. It has many unique characters into it's series so you'll never get bored.
technically speaking, it's been going since arcades in Japan with Soul Edge, which was later ported over and brought to the PS1 with SoulBlade (at least in the West due to copyright issues with Edge Games), so its been going since before the Sega Dreamcast and the official title becoming Soul Calibur. just a quick little factoid for you from another fan of the series (who also happens to still own his copy of SoulBlade on the PS1)
always been a fan of fighting games and tekken and soul calibur been in top 2 spots for me. Did notice seems to be a little slower pacing to the combat compared to previous titles, not a bad thing really but remember playing with friends at houses and combat feeling faster and more frantic is all. Got the game on publishers sale for under $20 and had get hwang and hao-samurai guy. Been awhile since played SC title but looks all in all like an amazing addition to the franchise and addition of new chars definetely adds to the appeal.
I am so excited for this game. Cant wait until my copy comes in the mail. Kilik is by far my favorite character along with Xinghua and Seung Mena. I hope Xbox One X doesn't have the input lag problem. The last Soul Calibur game I played was part 2. I heard this is a return to form, so pumped for tomorrow.
Just bought the game today! It looks great and the fighting mechanics is just amazing! Ive always played soul calibur and this has surpassed my expectations! It be cool to have some of the characters from 5 but still amzing game. Im gona start playing the story mode. Wish me luck!
The only characters we need back from 5 is like Algol and Edgemaster that’s it. The rest were “next generation” ripoffs of the originals that are in SC6
I haven't really noticed it until recently but the fact that you fight with weapons rather than fist is why I love soul caliber more than other fighting games.
This game is an absolute gem! Bandai Namco brought out the in-development version once a week at a venue in Tokyo and I've had a chance to play for the last couple of months with a slimmer roster. It's really easy to just pick up a new character and feel somewhat competent if you're familiar with fighting games in general. I used to be a "stick to one character" kind of guy, but everyone here has so much to offer that you really should try out all characters :)
I have very fond memories of this series and i hope to gain more with this release. My favorite characters are Yoshimitsu, Cervantes and Ivy. I can also chop it up with Voldo because as "weird" as he is it can play to my advantage because his movements aren't conventional
I was thinking about getting this game, but in Canada it’s $80, and even though I wanna play as Geralt, I’m not a huge fighting game fan and as a kid with no job looking forward to games coming out in 2019, I really need to start saving. With that said, should I get this game? Certainly I can always find other ways to accumulate the money necessary to get the games I’m excited for, but I’m not sure if $80 is worth it...
Soul Calibur has plenty of mechanics that make it as deep, if not more so, as any of the "giants" you think of. It's accessible on the surface, but it's also incredibly complex under that surface, rewarding the player for putting in the time to learn and practice.
I love the SC series, played 3 a lot at a friends house and spent countless hours on 4. When 5 came out it was the first time I felt so burned by the franchise that I didn't want to look into buying 6. As of right now with all the custom character creations and everything you listed coming back I'm going to keep my eye on it for awhile and wait for some bugs to fix before I buy it. I'm thrilled that they brought back characters and modes I've missed from past games so this might be one I pick up when it drops on sale.
I have been waiting for this Soulcalibur for such a long time, and i honestly didnt even know it was coming out till i saw some people playing it on Twitch the day it released. I instantly bought the game, and im in LOVE with this Soulcalibur. Like you said it has many many hours of solo gameplay which is awesome, and while the fighting is very similar to the previous one, it does add a couple new things with bring even greater depth to the fighting system than any previous Soulcalibur game. If you like fighting games, this is a MUST buy in my opinion, and if you are thinking about getting into fighting games, this is the perfect game to start out
ContraMundi I grew up with Tekken, but I felt like this kinda had a better feel than Tekken. It seemed more engaging to me and versatile when it came to the outcome of battle. Now I do feel like Tekken had a better story (along with its animations)
What is it with reviewers only talking of the good things? Anyway a major issue imo with the game is that the special meters filling up way too fast. This is causing super attacks to be available far too often. Super attacks slows down the gameplay with their cutscenes and its the same cutscenes every time... Its cool the first 10 times, but then it gets very tidious. I hope for a patch where you can choose the rate it fills up and a toggle option for super attacks and the slow motion actions. It will help the gameplay alot for repetable play!
Suck at fighting games but I can tell this is a good one. Long live Voldo, that creepy bastard.

I loved playing as link
I've been playing this game since ps1!
I got worried for a minute that this wasn't gonna come out!
Nice!👍
The King of Nerds I start playing on the Dreamcast
Talim is my favorite character and has been since Soulcalibur II days when I was a kid. I was so upset when SCV came out and not only did they not have Talim (cause it was in the future with like apprentices), they also completely abandoned her style. Like Xianghua was represented through Leixia and Cassandra and Sophitia through Pyrrha and Patroklas, but Talim had no representation with her elbow blades and her fighting style at all. I am so excited to be able to play as Talim again.
I've always thought the series was super cool and I can't wait to get into it as 6 will be my first SC game. I plan on maining Taki :)
Good choice
Excited for you my dude
Taki is awesome, also ehe feels just like she did back in SC3
I’ve loved soulcalibur since I played the first one on Dreamcast and I’m so happy to see original kilik is back
Watching this video while playing some Soul Calibur VI 😂
My soul still burns
the 8-way run feature is what gives SC the edge over all the other 3d fighters, including Tekken (the best one).
@@Not_Ciel as far as i know they are only giving us 100 items, 2 armour packs each containing 50 items.
Soul Calubur 2 was the best. Taki's exorcism cancel was haaaaaawwwt!
I want this game so bad!!!
Brian Beck I been saving my money since the summer for the upcoming games it was hard but I did it lol
Glad this game is back, remember playing it on my Gamecube with my younger brother.
Have played the Soulcaliber games since 1 and loved them all except 5. 6 is definitely better. Loving it!
Wasn’t that hyped about this game. But having two story modes is amazing.
Grabbing that collectors edition 💪 was disappointed with SC5, but SC6 shows a lot of promise.
I remember playing this game on the original Xbox and the graphics were insane for the time, this game always was fun and looked great.
Sooo ready to try and play online with my garbage connection
Relatable
Hope it gets better for ya
You got the McDonalds Wi-Fi to?
Don’t ruin the other players fun with your shit connection
Ive had so much fun with this game so far. The online network is super smooth. Its probably one of the only fighting games i can truly say that about.
zasalamel is my fav, so i'll buy it surely
Zasalamel is badass, my favourite character. Also Ivy is the main milf.
Nightmare has been my main since I started playing on SC 2
Siegfried for me. Always played as him on SC3
You mean *Zasmasol*
You guys don't know what a milf is do you?
Still love this game since I 1st played the O.G Soul Blade!
No one ever seems to mention Soul Blade, the very very first soulcaliber game.
Soul Edge was first.
Soul edge was the arcade version. The playstation name for soul edge was soul blade.
Soul Edge is the *TRUE NAME* and Tim Langdell can go screw himself!!!!
It's named Soul Blade in America and Soul Edge in Europe I think
No it was named Soul Blade in America and Europe and was named Soul Edge in Japan.
SoulCalibur is a good fighting game series. I love how it has guest characters in most of their games. I feel SoulCalibur is on par with other fighting games. SoulCalibur has been going since the dreamcaster like he said so you can't say you've never once heard of it if you're a gamer. It has many unique characters into it's series so you'll never get bored.
technically speaking, it's been going since arcades in Japan with Soul Edge, which was later ported over and brought to the PS1 with SoulBlade (at least in the West due to copyright issues with Edge Games), so its been going since before the Sega Dreamcast and the official title becoming Soul Calibur. just a quick little factoid for you from another fan of the series (who also happens to still own his copy of SoulBlade on the PS1)
this is way better than Tekken where JUGGLING people to the wall is the only thing....
always been a fan of fighting games and tekken and soul calibur been in top 2 spots for me.
I really really want to buy this but cant afford this and RDR2 😭
@@darkshadow6556 i'm at uni and already have a part time job dont assume
What’s RDR2?
@@DLMyth2 red dead redemption 2
But SoulCalibur. I doubt you have the space for RD2
Buy one now then save up for the other
This is not bad I mean it's my childhood game ( well sure I will buy it ) the fact that you can make your own charecter make me love this game more
Okay, when will dynasty warriors show up in soul calibur
Ehu Girl good luck!
@@Hey-everyone526 thanks!
The only characters we need back from 5 is like Algol and Edgemaster that’s it. The rest were “next generation” ripoffs of the originals that are in SC6
@@Not_Ciel but... Viola :(
@@LeoStargaze i loved her! And Tira
I haven't really noticed it until recently but the fact that you fight with weapons rather than fist is why I love soul caliber more than other fighting games.
I hated soul 5 but I'm really looking forward to 6
This game is an absolute gem!
Where’s the Voldo gameplay?!?!
ProNewb it is
I hope they also port Soul Calibur V with this one because; I love all the new characters, especially lady crystal ball mistress!
Don't forget to do Warriors Orochi 4 Before You Buy.
Soul Calibur has plenty of mechanics that make it as deep, if not more so, as any of the "giants" you think of. It's accessible on the surface, but it's also incredibly complex under that surface, rewarding the player for putting in the time to learn and practice.
So it’s just tekken with medieval shit
TAKE MY MONEY
Soul Calibur is Tekken with weapons, ring out and guest characters.
It's amazing
Yes
Soulcaliber 6 really makes you feel like batman
I love the SC series, played 3 a lot at a friends house and spent countless hours on 4. When 5 came out it was the first time I felt so burned by the franchise that I didn't want to look into buying 6. As of right now with all the custom character creations and everything you listed coming back I'm going to keep my eye on it for awhile and wait for some bugs to fix before I buy it. I'm thrilled that they brought back characters and modes I've missed from past games so this might be one I pick up when it drops on sale.
Tell my boyfriend i love him, IVY is just to THICC
Tell him yourself...?
I'll tell him.
If you like fighting games, this is a MUST buy in my opinion, and if you are thinking about getting into fighting games, this is the perfect game to start out
I got work with Sophita...try me
The Soul caliber series has always been solid and fun. Im not much of a fighting game player but soulcaliber everytime.
I like this soooo much better than Tekken.
Tekken is better than this game in every way.
@@kamitenshi3825 Tekken 7 was a drop in the series. Not a lot of time was put into it and it showed in the lack of content.
Code Code t7 is the best gameplay wise, but has no real single player content
It is much more noob friendly than Tekken and has good single player content.
