I played 0.9 GAMMA. It's huge, curated and constantly evolving modpack of standalone mod of Call of Prypiat, called Anomaly. There's some "story", but mainly it's a sandbox, where you will be occupied mainly with your character proggresion and side quests. All the game mechanics are complicated, so read carefully what does what, especially combined with something else. Don't read and fumble with gear in inventory out in the open, it's a certain way to get killed. Guns have separate parts, so watch out for barrel condition, the lower it gets, the lower is damage output of currently used ammo (weak ammo from trashed barrel = airsoft bb's... strongly not recommend experience). Healing is two stage, main item heals, other one - post heal - facilitate hp gain. Oh, and you heal limbs and head separately... so read carefully what does what. Rest is as always, keep your head on a swivel, take really good care of your gear, don't do stupid things, run away if you must, kill as swiftly as you can. Zone in GAMMA will teach you fast and good with each death it'll cause to you.
@@BeardedPumaGaming thank you, i'm happy you liked this stylised advice speech from... a "seasoned stalker", haha. This modpack is for people who wants more up to date visuals and more challenging gameplay and deeper mechanics. And it gave me numerous memorable "certified Stalker expieriences" ;)
I also recommend you to play GAMMA its an amazing way to experience the world of stalker in a more survival oriented way which also makes it replayable as hell. And god , game looks really impressive for its old engine with amazing graphics and weapon animations on par with games like cod or eft. Really would like to see video of you talking about it.
@Saidenek I've been reading about Gamma, and it really seems like I'd be missing out by not playing it. Alright, I'm sold. I'll start playing tomorrow haha
Yeah i liked the game and all but something about how sidorovich asks you to return to his bunker for "one last love sesh." Before you leave for the NPP didnt really stick right with me.
I've been playing way too much GAMMA/Anomaly for the last few weeks. Anomaly is definitely the best version of STALKER available at the moment. Though I also do recommend just playing the base games as well.
I love what the community did when they made Anomaly and greatly enjoy playing it (modded) however I think anybody new to the franchise should play the original trilogy (or in light of 2 perhaps original and standalone expansions might be more accurate to say (the sequels always felt closer to expansions then whole new games to me anyway)). I also assume expectations for 2 should be closer to the originals then Anomaly.
@DutchThriceman Yea, I dont expect to have nearly as much gameplay features as GAMMA and Anomaly just because they are a conglomerate of all 4 games. Though so far the new map size looks like it will be bigger than anomaly and I assume it will lose the loading walls between levels. Im still very much looking forward to it.
@KillerRedVine I've heard nothing but love from people about gamma. I'm gonna have to install it. They did a great job on the original games and a community that loves the main source makes great fan content.
@BeardedPumaGaming It does overhaul a lot and makes the gunplay and visuals nice. That said, I personally do make a few tweaks on the mod list, like removing the GAMMA Economy mods that way, you can buy and sell weapons from vendors. The GAMMA Economy is way too restrictive by default and it meant to make it more hardcore, but In my opinion, it's not immersive.
@KillerRedVine I'll keep that in mind and might end up doing the same in the end. I'll try the default first, of course, but I don't mind tweaking it for a better feeling game loop for sure
@@stanfordwillis4841 Stalker 2 looks to be more like Call of Prypiat on steroids, meanwhile GAMMA is fan-made hardcore Zone sandbox to do roleplay in... two totally different concepts.
stalker is cool but tarkov is russian propaganda, the game has anti-ukrainian slurs in it and the creator is associated with groups that fundraise for the russian military and whose members are imbedded with the invading force in ukraine.
you wouldn't know propaganda if it cock-slapped you in the face daily (which it does through imbecile-tier shit like CoD, but I bet there were no complaints about MuH PrOpAgAnDa there)

@adamcichon6957 if I wasn't already installing anomaly/gamma right now, I would be after reading this. That just sounds amazing

Yes it worth it.
@dewrow It's so good
You should play Gamma, it'll be better than stalker 2 anyway

I just play it as normal Stalker but much improved and with all maps and storylines/quests available
