Mark is right. if this gains traction , Google maps can easily add the feature along with some advertising to pay for it

you can honestly say that for every entrepreneur who had an offer but didn't take, whether or not the deal is great really comes down to the entrepreneur himself given he knows his business inside out
Not necessarily, since the production team of shark tank shoots many segments and only few of them air and if you don't make a deal it's not guaranteed that your segment will air, so refusing a deal makes your part much less likely to air and the entrepreneurs know about this.
Kevin dodged a bullet, he would have never got his money back out of this.

a RARE pitch, where Kevin is actually being reasonable. However this does feel more like an add on to another product. His best bet is to be sold to Google or Garmin, he certainly seems to have something to offer them (celeb read stories)

How many people are doing road trips across multiple states often, to justify paying ~$40/yr to hear Kevin Costner interrupting my driving music/podcast to tell me facts about Montana? Extremely niche app.
I can see this being used in google maps with a history fact when you’re road tripping sort of when you make it to a state. google says “welcome to Kansas” (could be a toggled feature road trip mode)

I give that 5 “stories” before the average customer is like “turn this off!”. The inventor is forgetting one thing about tours, you spend half your time wishing the guide talked less and didn’t rush you through.
I think Kevins offer of 10% was very fair...but the guy already had investors at a higher value and that would of caused major problems.

Evenly distributed based on how many stories are able to be told about that particular area. It's not his fault if in the middle of nowhere there are not many stories to be told.

I would say it's primarily for families. I wouldn't want to be travelling with my friends talking about god knows what to be randomly interrupted with a fact about horse drawn carriages.
I think there's some value there but I think it's niche. I do think the play is sell to google or waze. I think it's a feature and you get a notification about the story then you can choose to listen to it on top of maps.

It's all about photo taking and chatting with your friends/partner whenever you are traveling. Standing aside listening to the story for awhile seems rare. Good luck to him

Does it work along with music? It would be annoying to sit in silence because you can only use the app if your music isnt playing. I think Robert was right. Id be down for this if it came with Sirus XM or something that came with the car. I love traveling and driving too, but Im not paying for it. Also it would be better if when you put in your destination it pre-downloaded stories along your route and played when those points came up in your trip, than solely relying on a data connection. You tend to lose signal and that would be a helpful way to ensure you get your monies worth even without signal.

This guys whole strat is acquisition. Yes google could add this and do all the work, hire all the prolific voices, or just buy these guys and integrate. He didn't need a deal honestly the free advertising is his best value and if he can get a shark involved it would be the icing on the cake.
Which doesn't work. Here the only thing of any value is the idea, which isn't protected. Google indeed could just copy this and release their BETTER version for about 50k with most of that being in hiring some interesting people to voice it. And then you have a better, low priced version, of this you cannot possibly compete with.
My only problem is when people say “cutting down on screen time” and then have an app and the only way to use it. Is with a screen 😂 besides that it seems ok to me. Also, glad to see another Santa Barbian 🎉

Ok, i respect this man for sticking to his 7 percent ask but why don't most entrepreneurs see the value the sharks bring. Greed is the answer. That 10 percent valuation could take him way further than his 7 percent valuation. He could be rich and he turned it down.
