    Move the sink to under the higher windows. A double deep sink would be really handy.

      Yes, I see it the same way. I wouldn’t want to walk to the other building to rinse out the brushes etc. 😀

    My interior designer brain immediately relocated the basin under the clerestory windows (the high ones) so that you keep a big washing space in the main area ... and you don't see it immediately when you walk in. ;)

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your designer brain is absolutely right! Atm the sink is an eye sore. It has to go :)

    I would take out the small sink and shower and put in a big basin. Get ride of the sink in the main studio area. What potential of space! Wonderful

    Laura you are so fortunate to get this space. There are so many possibilities. Perhaps you should live with it for awhile before making big changes. Personally I like my basin in my messy work area.

      Thank you, and I agree with you. I keep saying that to Richie that we should wait and see how it feels. I think he is just in the mood to rip things out and renovate. Don't worry though, I have banned him from my studio for the moment!!

    Wow. A gardener's dream property. The upkeep on the garden alone will be a lot. The studio is dreamy. I would relocate the sink to another part of the studio space, especially since there's already water lines. To clean up right where you work is important. Walking to another area with your hands full might be okay, but in reality, having one right there is crucial. Your husband might think a short walk will be okay, but you're the one who would actually be doing it so do what works best for you.

    Laura, I’m so excited for you and Ritchie!! This studio/work compound is going to be such an amazing thing for you! I literally gasped when you walked into your painting studio - the light is so amazing 😄 For what it’s worth, I’d vote to eliminate that sink…wall space is so precious!! So excited to see how you fill out your space 🎉

    Im so excited for you two!! Im so envious of that garden as well!! You all work so hard. You deserve a wonderful space like this! One thought, go ahead and either get rid of the one sink in the studio if you use the one in the bathroom for clean up. Otherwise I would move it so its not blocking that wall. I think you’re going to find it messy and a pain to have to go to that other shed every time you need a sink.

  • @breeedge2269
    @breeedge2269 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    What about if you put a big basin in the shower's place and get rid of the small basin in the studio bathroom area? Then you won't need the sink that's taking up the wall space. You will get all that wall space back, and still have access to water/toilet in the same building.

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's definitely an option. I do want to keep at least one basin in the studio as it would be so handy to have it right there. I'm just not sure if I need three basins - hmm 🤔

    • @breeedge2269
      @breeedge2269 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Laura Horn Art definitely. I use so much water when i make art, having to travel any further than a few steps for it is a massive tragedy and I would not be down for that 😂🤣

    Congratulations Laura! Looking out of your office is a beautiful Zen like garden feeling. The 1950s home is in great shape. I would do the art studio first of course. Congratulations Laura and Richie. You guys have worked so hard and I'm stoked about your new property. Having separate work and home spaces will make a big difference. Dreamy garden and all that storage. My art space is crammed into our family lounge and is slowly taking over. I can't find anything! 😂 I'm in awe of what you guys have achieved and can't wait to see you develop this property. I think your studio might need a comfy couch or a couple of armchairs thrifted, vintage/retro styles. Somewhere to chill and even catch a nap in your workspace. Security cameras are handy on a big property so you can see who's coming and going if either of you are working alone. Yup, you don't need the second sink in your workspace. You have the small sink in your studio bathroom plus the other room you showed us with a sink. I think it might be helpful to have a wall space as well as an easel for your larger work. So much potential everywhere. I'm confident you guys will make this place incredible because you are both creative. ❤🎉

  • @kathycferguson

  • @aniawood

    SO much potential in this space!! I love gardening as much as painting so this is such a dream space for me. It's also so fun to have outbuildings, each with their specific purpose and personality. I vote to get rid of that big bulky sink in your painting space - not only will you give yourself a big wall, it will also feel more beautiful and peaceful. I agree with Richie that large sink in the other building looks great for washing brushes, and the little sink in the bathroom can work, too! I'd figure out some sort of brush drying rack to put in that shower.

    What a beautiful house - gorgeous energy!! In your studio you could block up and cover the smallest window at the back and use it as a blank wall just a thought so you don’t have to move the sink but as you are used to using a wall as an easel it’s probably best to keep that system. Good luck with the renovation and beginning work I look forward to seeing the progress!! Lucky lucky girl!! ❤

    Thanks for sharing- so much possibility! In response to your question about the sink, I suggest moving it to under the high back window. Keep the possibility of working on the wall - and also it will be nice to have a big wall to display any large pieces. I have always worked on easels and I wish I had a big wall!! Have fun figuring it all out. A dream project!

    CONGRATULATIONS, Laura!! SUCH exciting news. Thank you for such an extensive tour......the property is absolutely MAGNIFICENT! It's as though every building, each room, crook, and cranny was tailored to you and your family's specific needs. And the GARDEN! A slice of heaven made just for you and your love of botanicals. I was born in 1950 so there are a few things that remind me of that specific time period, that warm my own heart -- right down to how those large metal doors squeak so beautifully when you're opening them. I know you and Richie have worked very hard to have this, so I could not be happier for you! xo Much love from Colorado, USA..... ♥

    Amazing property Laura! Super exciting for you both! Personally, I reckon keep the basin in the main studio, just move it into the corner. It could be more practical & convenient if you're in the studio late or when its the dead of winter. I'm not sure about you, but I am less inclined to walk in a dark garden or in the cold/wet just to go wash brushes. Especially if I have to go back and forth multiple times to wash... alt. you could keep multiple jars of clean water in the studio to limit the amount of trips to rinse brushes... I look forward to seeing the progress of the property as you & Richie settle in. :)

    Thank you for sharing. What an incredible property! I have been wondering...In your art studio, would it be possible to remove the sink/counter along your one big open wall space. Take out the shower and current tiny sink in the restroom, replacing them with a larger sink and counter area for washing up? Perhaps the counter could wrap around the corner like the sink/counter in your finished art storage room. By opening that restroom wall you would be able to walk right up to the sink. You could create a door for the toilet area or hang a curtain for privacy. I would appreciate having that whole long wall open to possibilities. I would also appreciate having a wash up area right where I make my messes. I currently have to walk down a long hall and down the steps to the basement to wash up. Peace.

    How wonderful! Can’t wait to see more as it progresses. I say take out the big sink in your studio. You have the little basin for small wash up needs and then, as you say, you could take bigger wash ups to the other shed. I think the space freed up to you would be worth the wee bit of extra wash up effort. In my own studio, I don’t have a basin at all so I have to walk downstairs and to the other part of the house to do my washing up. Would be more convenient in studio, but it’s not that big of a deal. Either way, it will be great to see what you decide!

      Thank you, I am just as excited about playing in the garden as playing with paint in the studio!

    I say get rid of the sink in the studio and open up your wall space. You can either use the sink in the storage area with the little one in the bathroom for quick water jar changes. Or, if you want that big slop sink close to your work area, take the shower out of the bathroom and move the big basin there (and get rid of the little basin in the bathroom). But you need that wall space. Changing your work style from wall to easel to save a sink seems too big an ask.

      I agree. The sink in its current location has to go! All the comments here have been really helpful 🙏

    Very exciting. Loved the walk-through. As to the sink in the painting area - I think it's the counter around the sink that is big - the sink is kinda small. You could set paintings on the counter though and paint - and have a ready supply of water.

    Congratulations! This is so adorable! I love the yellow paint!!!! You should definitely keep the sink in the main work room & do some awesome type of cabinetry work.

      Thanks Linda! I think we might re-do the shower/toilet area and put a bigger sink in there, so I can have the wall space. I love the idea of awesome cabinetry work!

    How exciting. I would love just a bit of all that space. You’ve a lot of work to do but it’s a blank canvas and you’re going to have a lot of fun designing spaces for each of you

    Wow! I was so thrilled when I had my shed studio built in the garden, but now I have cottage envy. ☺️
    How far is it from your home? And will you do progress videos? I’d love to see how you change and fill all your lovely spaces. Would it be possible to put a larger sink in the bathroom area in your studio? My shed has electric, but no water, and that is something I’d love - to be able to keep brushes, sponges etc clean immediately, without having to walk back to the house, especially in bad weather!

    Wonderful space. Re the basin. Redo the bathroom into a wet/cleaning space with a good sink, take the room basin out and have that wall. I work on easels and whilst it's nice to be able to move them, it doesnt give the freedom of expression in painting.

      Thanks for the suggestions. I do feel like that might be the best long term option. I really do need that wall space :)

    This is beautiful! I’m so happy for you!!! A thought about your studio sink… could you make the basin in the small bathroom bigger - take out the shower and put in a counter to dry brushes on and then take the sink and counter out of the studio work area (or would the sink and counter fit into the bathroom if you took the sink & shower out that are in there)?

  • @7834brace

    I would get a larger sink in a cabinet under the high window. Just slide the sink area down that wall till you get under the window.
