Fun fact. Nintendo had licensed out Donkey Kong to Coleco, but Coleco allowed it to be released on Atari and Intellivision as well, the catch being that those versions were obviously inferior to the Colecovision version in spite of the fact that Intellivision was technically capable of better than it got. Certainly not the kind of marketing tactic you'd see these days
I get a kick out of those Game & Watch commercials, what with how they show seemingly serious business people playing G&W games. I know Nintendo used a similar marketing tactic with the Game Boy early on.
The cereal commercial was the first time Mario spoke, even before Peter Cullen's Mario in the DK cartoon.
If I had a dollar for everytime I found you, I could quit my job.
6:00 Here we go!
@@KoldoTaneliThat’s not the time period he spoke, he spoke at 5:33.
@@KoldoTanelior if you’re talking about the live action version, he spoke at 0:10.
6:00 He kinda sounded like the current Mario for a sec, when he said "Here we go!"
That part also predicted one of his modern counterpart's catchphrases, which is, in fact, "Here we go!"
Charles Martinet must’ve met up with the voice actor and improved upon.
Ah yes, Mario's first actor, before even Lou Albano....
"Save yer papa? HA! Save yerself first!"
"Yer not gonna stop me, ya stupid ape!"
Anyone missed the "multiplatform nintendo era"?
Back when Mario was bald and Pauline had blond hair.
Blonde Pauline, I could take it or leave it tbh. Bald Mario? No thank you, I like Mario with full healthy head of hair.
They could have kept it up and had Super Mario Brothers 3 on PC instead of Commander Keen!
I remember seeing commercials for Donkey Kong Jr. cereal when I was a kid.

Buckner & Garcia.
Interesting how they interpreted Mario as wearing a black vest over a white shirt, a bowtie, and fedora.
