  • So the Patch dropped. Lots of nerfs for the Thiccc Briccc. Armor bug was squashed so now it's hull tank potential is far smaller. And it also got it's flux stats nerfed so it can't even fire a full volley of LIDAR Mjolnirs without maxing out the Flux capacity.
    But it still has plenty of potential, and Fuller auto.

    What was going through the minds of the domain military when they decommissioned this absolute monster of a ship? The players great great grandfather must have been supplying way to many recreational drugs to them

      Considering you can build two onslaught with the same resources and have half the upkeep and crew requirement...

      ​@@joshuahoffman1458 Not to mention a single Invictus is in a lot more trouble than two Onslaught are, if a destroyer with a bunch of reapers gets behind it. Even a single Onslaught is much better at dealing with fast things that get behind them than an Invictus is.

      @@martenkahr3365 Not to mention that as single invictus requires 4000 skeleton crew while my whole bounty hunter fleet composed of 25+ warships has 2000 crew in total.

    This ship is the anti-capital capital ship.
    But a frigate (god forbid a phase frigate) comes around and fires red shiny missiles it melts like microwaved space cheese.

      He's using Sarissa as PD. Beyond that I'm more than positive that combined firepower of all the caps exceeds a reapers 4k.

    one time i was playing around with cheats I saw 2 radiants and a conquest all attacking an invictus. shooting that thing felt like shooting a small planet, its armor was like 🗿
    also this happened at the top of the map so after a minute or so the invictus just turned around and fucking left

    As surprisingly “eh” as the assault guns are with the ship system, I love them the most due to them essentially turning into upscaled A-10 warthogs.

    I swear Starsector AI is smarter than this, It's just that the THICC BRICC seems to incurr stupidity on its foes. Perhaps the AI thinks it's civilian with the lack of shields? Or maybe when you shunt the ships are like "HA, we won the flux war, time to go all out with our kinetics"

      I mean its a brick. Sure one sides a wall of death but you think the AI could I dont know exploit the fact its almost as slow and unmanuvrable as a station and go around to the sides or back not hang out in front in a head on slugging match the one thing this ship Excels at

    Is the AI dumb there is no way you should have gotten away with this. The paragon just hid in it's shield. The conquest didn't fire a shot. all that had to happen was that the paragon shoot you then when you use lidar array use its fortress shield. Then vent when you vent. nice build though. the ship does look balanced now although maybe it's turning rate needs to be turned down a bit.
    edit: also maybe incompatible with auxiliary thrusters? also wonder how it would perform without skills and without s-mods

      I will admit S-mods and Officer skills do elevate this thing beyond what Sim ships can easily handle.
      And TBH despite the Fuller auto hilarity of HAGs they were a disappointment once the armor was cracked. Going to try swapping those out for Mjolnirs but keep the mk9s. Probably could've killed the Paragon before his shield came back had i done that.
      As for the Paragon showdown, keep in mind I had been letting it pummle me for a while by that point and had taken decent damage from the onslaughts. Even in a Vacuum without an officer or S-mods an invictus will (using the zero-flux speed boost) get within permanent pummeling range of a Paragon. And even with fortress shield that Paragon will run out of flux long before that Invictus runs out of hull

      I mean yea that makes sense, although I’ll probably want to do my own testing with paragon vs invictus. I do remember doing with the executor prenerf and it struggled for damage unless I was being stupid or there was an escort. Although the executor is faster than the paragon

      Paragon AI assumes its sitting in the back of the fleet and abusing it's range (highest weapon range on game), and goes into turtle mode if attacked and wait for allies to rescue it.

    HAG is not bad on its own, it just doesnt really work on invictus.
    Its good for sustained damage on cruisers and destroyers which can carry it, especially if there is place for HVD.
    But invictus is all about burst damage and "delete direction".

    i feel like if the paragon didn't do that dumb vent it could have beat the invictus. very strong though, i never thought to actually pilot it myself, i didn't wanna fly something so slow

    Whats funny is I've taken two of those invictus on with my fleet in a paragon and just kited and beamed them till they broke armor then destroyed them, it helps when the AI isn't too hard

    2 mark 9 cannons at the rear? is that really useful for the OP cost?

      In Cap v Cap fights like this? Not really I admit.
      But in "live fire" situations where you're liable to have Frigates chewing at your ass, having something there to cover it is nice

      @@logion567 Fair enough that makes sense. The only other thing that seems a bit "scary" about this build is the complete lack of PD, but since this ship really shouldn't be on it's own anyways it's probably fine in an actual fight with allies around it

      ⁠@@erwins_arm I agree. But, there’s also canister flak system, which does alleviate the lack of PD a fair amount. It’s not gonna stop a hammer or two (maybe a reaper) but you can shrug that off - you can’t shrug off an Astral bombing run, which canister flak can cover
      Plus having a couple escorts will usually deal with the one or two random hammers anyways. Small missiles won’t do jack

    its a shame how useless this thing is
    in reality you arent fighting just paragons and onsloughts, if this thing gets surrounded (it will) it is dead, even though it takes an entire like 4 minutes of shooting it to kill it.
    also terrible at back to back combat because of needing the armor and hull to be repaired.

      fair but that’s why there are other ships to help support the invictus, and this thing is just a monster when it comes to dealing with stations that are particularly hard to break through.
