Few hints on changing your sleeping schedule to 9-5 (am):
    1. Make sure you have an hour of calm relaxing time before bed
    2. Don't drink caffeine or other stimulants after morning
    3. Get good curtains (no really)
    4. Accept that you'll have trouble falling asleep at the start and will miss a few hours of sleep, no matter what you do.
    5. Don't use anything with a screen for around 1 hour and 30 minutes before bed. It wakes you up and makes it WAY harder to fall asleep.
    6. In the line of the last advice: learn to get into non-phone and non-pc habits, like reading, or doing simple chores.
    7. Finally, have a routine you follow before bed. You can do this before you start the challenge to make it easier to fall asleep. Your brain will learn to fall asleep after the routine and it will speed up the process of adapting.

idk about the 5th hint, since its a nightly routine that i play 1 round of minecraft dungeons before sleeping at roughly 9-9:30 and then wake up at roughly 4:45-5:05.
but i can understand since blue screen and such can definitely keep ya awake.
then again the reason to why my nightly routine is to play a round/dungeon in minecraft dungeons is cuz i usually fall sleepy when i do and even catch mysely going to sleep in the middle of the run.
overall good tips list my guy

@@thebigfatsoman2002 I am assuming your screen may have blue light protection. If you have glasses, there may be a blue light filter on them as well. Blue light can be brutal if you have a hard time falling asleep. But, it may not hit the same on each person. You may just be able to fall asleep fairly easily, like myself.

i love seeing more people wake up at 5. to be honest waking up at 5am, disconnecting at 9pm, and in bed by 10pm super helped my depression and anxiety. It was the stepping stone to a ton of other great habits! i was able to go from 225 to 170, read more, meditate, organize my life more, and get my entire work life balance (mostly the life part) in order.

As a student waking up at 5am isn't really optional as I have classes and work to get to but I find not staying up super late or sleeping in super late on weekends or breaks make waking up on work weeks way easier. Keeping your sleep schedule as regulated as possible helps a lot! For example I wake up about 4:50-5:00 Am pretty much every weekday for school or work on weekends or breaks I wake up around 9:00-10:00Am to allow myself to sleep in but not so late that I feel I've wasted the day sleeping.
Rewarding yourself also helps a lot , usually on weekends I love having some tea and coffee cake to start my morning and then watch a show or video I've been interested in but didn't have the time during the week to watch. It feels good and I look forward to it during the week!
I've always had trouble falling asleep but I have a pretty solid schedule now I always take melatonin an 1hr or 30 minutes before I want to be asleep apply some Dr teals sleep lotion (smells amazing) and relax.

I can't imagine how difficult and frustrating being a morning person with ADHD would be. Your brain is already fighting you in a lot of ways--executive dysfunction, time blindness, etc--and sleep is no exception. Delayed melatonin release due to a dysfunctional sleep/wake regulator (a part of the brain known as the reticular activating system) makes it harder to fall asleep and wake up energized.
I have heard that sunrise alarms can help, but I'm not sure how effective they actually are. Might be worth a try, though. 🤷‍♂️

The easiest way to actually wake up at 5am is to sleep early. For 2 years I had to wake up at 5am to drive a school bus. I tried sleeping at 10-11pm to wake up at 5am and that made it so hard to get up. Id wake up and contemplate If those kids actually needed to be picked up. After 2 months I finally figured it out (helps that I can fall asleep in -5 seconds even if I had just woken up) and I just started sleeping no later than 9pm. I was doing very well! Making my kale smoothies, coffee and breakfast and heading to work early and all. Then I got married, got addicted to morning cuddles and have had the toughest time getting the hubby to sleep before 11pm if I don’t walk him and he will not get up before 7am. Thank god I got a 8-5 job but not gonna lie I do sometimes miss getting up at 5am.

Tips I've learned from having to wake up at 4am almost everyday.
1.) As soon as u wake up get up. No joke. Don't let yourself sit there on ur bed. Get up and do your routine
2.) Eat something small. If u not hungry enough to eat a meal eat a lil snack when u get up. Can be some fruit, a granola bar, etc.
3.) If u gotta get up 4 work or school give yourself only a few minutes to get ready. Can't sit around and play on your phone when you got 15 to get ready and head to the bus LMAO
4.) Don't let yourself sleep in on days off/weekends. I know I know everyone wants to sleep in on your day off but in reality it makes u more tired. Get yourself up at a normal time everyday. If u had to work a really long shift before a day off gove yourself an extra 30 sleep. Don't do an hour. It will be harder to get up.
5.) Plan your days off. Don't got to go anywhere? Well that ok too. What do u wanna do on your day off? Catch up on a TV series? Read that comic u been putting off. Plan it. Give yourself a scedule. Will let you get everything done and you will be super tired and fulfilled by the end of the day.
U don't gotta get up super early like I do but these do help you stay productive :))

Personally I'm in high school at the moment and they make us all wake up at 5-6am depending on 6iur bus routes, they also make the middle schoolers wake up just as early including the 6th graders, who are only 10-11 years old. I get that for some people this could boost productivity or whatever it's supposed to do but for us it just kills our motivation to do work and causes us to fall asleep in lectures. Everyone I've met at this school has admitted to sleeping in class. The school's excuse for making everyone wake so early and learn about geometry? Because some kids have sports and they need to get there by 2 or 3pm. I myself participate in these sports, and even I think it's insane. I think the world will remain in fact if some kids have to find a sports place that runs at 5or6pm instead of 2 or 3pm. But hey, that's just me.

As someone very very familiar with severe long term sleep deprivation, I’m really concerned about them saying that they slept so little for so long :/ I am conflicted as I’m happy for them that they’re proud of having achieved their goal and that they found many benefits, but also it is okay to listen to your body’s natural sleep chronotype. 5am is some people’s perfect start for productivity, but you can be just as productive, mindful, and healthy in your mind and body by listening to what it responds best to rather than forcibly mapping it onto someone else’s timeline and ending up depriving yourself of sleep since your body doesn’t natural seem to want to sleep that early. Societal Jet Lag is real, so remember that while it’s great to want to improve yourself and be more productive, remember that no one strategy works for anyone and to listen to your body while making adjustments. This message goes out to Den or anyone who may be reading this ^-^ be your best self for yourself in whatever your timeframe may be 😊

Don't forget people have a biological clock, chaninging this is possible but it won't make you happier, besides, it might just make you feel more sad. Like for me at school. I wake up at 6 AM daily for it and I don't really feel happier about it. Every weekend I can go to bed at 11PM and wake up around 9-10AM, and it's perfect. On those days I feel much less depressed than on school days or early days.

I don't have to wake up that early, I usually wake up at 7 every day. My best way of staying awake when it's early is taking a shower, doing my hair, skincare, makeup, getting dressed then forcing myself to eat and do SOMETHING (on days when I don't have school)

I hate this mindset. People who wake up at around 4:00 - 5:00 a.m. are people who are morning people. A large part of the population are night owls, so if you are one; not only are you waking up early, by ruining your sleep; You are also lowering the efficiency of the amount of time you spend working.
There is 24 hours in a day. So if someone wakes up at around let's say 4:00 am, they usually go to sleep around 9:00pm, equating to 7 hours of sleep. If you go to bed at 1:00 am and wake up at 8:00am, it is also 7 hours of sleep. You don't need to wake up early to be successful, you just need to figure out what time works for you. You might be a parent and need an hour or two to study/work/productive in the morning before the kids wake up. Or you might live with your family and want the peace and quite time at night to focus. What I am basically saying is do what works best for you, don't force something just because you saw a post or a popular TH-camr suggest it.

I think attempting to sleep regularly harmed me far more than it helped me. I used to attempt to go to bed in the dark and usually failed, so almost all of my sleep was during daylight. Now, I do not keep a regular schedule tied to a 24-hour day so it is about 50/50 between dark and light. I am much more productive and feel better!

I remember last July I started a new job where I go into work in the morning (I used to work later shifts).. I immediately shifted a bunch of things in my day-to-day, with recommendations from my bf (since his shifts, well.. shift, every couple of weeks at his workplace). So now I wake up at 7-7:30AM, have breakfast by 7:45, my lunch is around 12-1:30PM, & I try to make sure my dinner is no later than 6:30PM (sometimes I'll have a snack if I used a lot of energy in the day & feel hungry still). I'm always asleep by 11:30PM, but try to make sure I'm not on any social platforms by 10PM. (I'll put on TH-cam vids to fall asleep to because I have PTSD & need something to distract my thoughts ^^'''').
Having used to gone to bed by 2-3AM & waking up close to noon, to immediately switching my entire routine, was tough, & took a while for the diet portion especially, but it really has helped a lot in the long run!

In my experience, it's way easier by having a few personal rules and aids, here we go:
    1. Have an excuse to wake up early. I constantly think "university opens at 6, I have class at 7, but parking is impossible after 6:30, so I have to be there before." And through mental gymnastics and washing my own brain, I get to wake up by 5:00 to 5:30, depending on wether or not I will shower in the morning (I usually shower one morning and then the next afternoon, 36 hours to keep may hair from drying out too harshly), to make sure I arrive by 6:30.
    2. Engrain into your head that you have to sleep at least 6 hours. It was recommended at some point for an adult to sleep between 6 and 8 hours every day, and I took that personally. Making sure you complete a certain amount of hours of sleep every day will motivate you to sleep earlier in order to achieve that goal. My rule is "at least 6 hours, or if I have no choice, at least 4 as the absolute bare minimum and as last resort".
    3. Green and jazmin tea at night, mixed together. This thing works wonders when you first start and, at least in my experience, helps only with the process of falling asleep, but doesn't knock you out. I make it by hand, have a 30 minute ritual for making it, and it motivates me a lot into having dinner early to have my sweet time making it.
    4. A good brew of coffee in the morning. In the same way I have my night ritual for tea, I have one for coffee in the morning. I make it by hand as well, and take that time for catching up with news and friends, and making breakfast. You have a coffee machine, so it isn't necessary to take the extra time for it, but it's always nice to have a ritual for both morning and night to follow, which will always and forever feel like an achievement.
    5. Gradual alarms. Sleep tracking apps like Sleep Cycle have an alarm that plays and gradually increases volume until you wake up. They have a 30 minute window, and once you learn how you sleep and wake up, you can set the alarm accordingly. For example, I wake up after 15 minutes of the gradual alarm playing, plus 5 minutes of snooze time to prevent a morning migraine from kicking in (I get them if I stand up right as I wake up for some reason). Therefore, I have set my grad alarm accordingly.
    6. Music. Waking up and playing upbeat music afterwards is somehow a moral booster. So I recommend having your phone's voice assistant ready as you wake up to play a list with your favourite energetic songs, at a reasonable volume to avoid waking someone else up or staggering yourself up (it can feel bad tbh).
    7. Water. Lastly, having a glass of water on your bedside nightstand and drinking it before standing up helps ease your mind into waking up completely, because its coldness feels nice and refreshing.
These are the rules I follow, and I recommend you have your own, or maybe even choose and pick what you like from the ideas proposed in the comment section, I know I saw some that I really liked that motivated me into writing my own in hopes of it helping someone. And congrats on achieving 30 days of this routine! It is nice to see that I wasn't the only one to struggle at first and it's refreshing.

My body has been wanting me to wake up at 4 am and not be able to go back to sleep for a while. It’s a mix of both being tired during the day from a lot of things and going to bed earlier than normal around 8 or 9. I also think the time change is part of the reason as well. The biggest reason is my own bad habit of being on my phone before I got to bed and then my eyes think it’s bright sooner than it is. If I spend 30 minutes reading a book then I can sleep through the night or if I wake up on the middle of the night it’s easier to go to sleep

  • @susukenma12

I know for me I got so used to staying up late over the summer since I graduated high school and didn’t have school anymore. Because I wasn’t in school anymore I kind of lost my routine. Because you have to wake up at a certain time for school and you have a schedule for school which is like eight hours, you basically have a routine laid out for you. But now that I am an adult now and don’t have school anymore I have to rely on myself to wake up on time and get things done that I want to do. It may seem hard for us but I totally recommend waking up early. I haven’t been waking up at 5 AM because that’s just way too early. However I’ve been waking up around eight or 9 AM depends on the day. But for those of you who want to start waking up on time just take a little steps. If you wake up before 12 PM that is already a goal.

I struggle a lot with major depressive disorder so I totally relate to most of the points in the video. Especially the drinking water regularly omg, I never had bad skin but not good skin. Once I drank water a lot more people started asking me for my routine! (Literally was just drinking water LOL) I remember hitting that desperate point of trying the motivational videos when I was 18 in 2017. Here are some things that helped me.
    1. External validation is a double edged sword. I don't want to disappoint people, and I want to be held accountable by people I care about. But if I lean on them too much I found my motivation wasn't doing this for ME, it was to appease my peers. Self improvement is not for anyone else. Also doing things to spite my friends because they doubted me, I never got long term value from and found it to just be a toxic response on my end. Don't get me wrong though, I love a good "I told you so, doubters 😎".
    2. I NEVER have snooze on my alarms, unconscious/partial conscious me will find some way to sabotage and blank my memory so I have the excuse of blaming my phone.

One thing that helps me with getting to sleep is setting up a bed time routine, that means I just listen to chill slow music, brush my teeth, groom, etc. Usually you want this to be an hour before your intended bed time. That should be 9 hours before 5 if you want to wake up at 5. I tend to wake up around 7 or 8 rather than 5 but I had woken up alot earlier than that due to work circumstances. Definitely aim to get at min 7 hours of sleep but no more than 9. After 9 you delve into the nap territory and a bad nap makes ya feel groggy at best.

I used to have to wake up at 4 a.m. because I worked before and after school 😅 I opened AND closed a daycare when I was 17 years old, and I was so sleep deprived and I absolutely hated it. One weekend, I was so exhausted and sick that I went to bed at 8 p.m. Friday night, and I didn't wake up until 8 p.m. Saturday evening, and I was VERY confused. I'm just not wired to wake up early. No matter how much or little sleep I got, I'll still be tired and groggy all day. I have a pretty set routine now, though. I work evenings at my job, so I go to bed at around 5 a.m. so I can wake up in between 1 or 2 p.m. since I have work at 3. I get off work at 11:30 p.m. and usually get home in between 11:45 and midnight. I usually walk my pitbull as soon as I get home, then I feed him, my husky, and my three cats, and then I'll heat something up for myself and take the rest of the night to relax. I've got myself a little routine I enjoy. I just cannot wake up early, I hate being awake when the sun is up

I used to wake up at 5am during my entrance exam preparation years. I still can’t believe how i was able to do it. Surely most motivated and productive days of my life.

Congrats on your success. As a person who can't stay sleep until 10AM (Thank you military sleep cycle), I can feel the struggle at first, but then it's like clockwork. I need to get back to my get up and record schedule... Next month I'll start...

I used to get up at 5:30 every day for my old job. Had to meet at 7 and had a 30 minute bike ride there, so I decided to have an hour of waking up and eating breakfast before going on that journey.
