Hello Brief Case. New to the channel but I have been binge watching your videos over the past 3 months. You do quality work!! You are one of the best narrators on YT. I look forward to a new case every Monday. Thank you. 📑💼🔎
I can only imagine the torment and guilt Jeanne's grandfather must have felt for the rest of his days after she was killed. Very, very sad story. Thank you Brief Case for telling it to an international audience. Little Jeanne is not forgotten.
Despite the terrible tragedy that afflicted their lives, Jeanne's grandparents are to be commended for standing by their daughter and helping to raise the child, and also Jeanne's mother, who chose to keep the child in an era that condemned unmarried mothers. Also, I feel sorry for Annette's older brother, who was duped into leaving his sister with a stranger. He must have been burdened with the guilt for the rest of his life.
This case touched me especially, as I was born in Belgium and worked in Brussels when I got my first job as a 20-year-old. I never felt quite safe in the area where my workplace was situated. I was often approached by strangers with less than good intentions. These beautiful little girls, so full of life and promise, fared so much worse. May they and their loved ones rest in peace. Thank you, Brief Case, for your thorough research and for your clear and at the same time compassionate presentation. You never seek the sensational, but are a voice for those who can't speak anymore!
So true. The world has always had murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc., we're just more aware of such things today because of how much quicker news travels.
Why people looked down on unwed mothers and their children when the men who abandoned them were given a pass is beyond despicable. We've lost those attitudes...mostly. Thanks for the lessons from the past BC, you are awesome.
And to know that a lot of those single mothers were/are raped is so painful. Times haven't really changed...people simply now know how to hide their feelings.
All these stories are tragic, but the ones where a child is given permission to walk a short distance alone hit me the hardest. I can’t imagine the regret. As always, great storytelling about a horrific crime.
Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way, much love and respect to the families and the friends. Now we have Victim Support sure it's an Ambulance at the bottom of the cliff, but we have it
When I hear people of a certain age (many of them in my demographic) complain that kids these days are too soft, too spoiled and sheltered, and not independent or self-sufficient enough, I think about how fortunate I was as a child to have survived - unconscious of some of the incredibly stupidly dangerous situations in which I, or I and my friends, found myself. I mean, you would not believe the near-misses that only became evident years later upon reflection with the experience of an adult. And the strange thing I often hear in near-miss stories all the time was true in every one of my own experiences: we did not tell the adults in our lives what happened, because we were afraid of not being believed, or (in my case) of being punished for bringing unwelcome news into the household. That the children in this second story who were able to tell what they saw, and to describe the man involved, seemed to have been dismissed just because they were deemed unreliable for being children is sad.
As a child of a single absentee mother, I was always in the streets late at night. By the grace of God I made it through to adulthood. 🙏 I feel the deepest sorrow for these 2 little kids. 🤢
Very true, and thinking back on the incidents one was fortunate to have survived, you have to wonder how many bad situations you totally escaped due to luck that you had absolutely no knowledge of whatsoever.
@@NelsonStJames NOT "Due to luck" but to being blessed !! This is why I escaped the man with the huge burlap sack who pretended he was drunk walking down the street and he tried to abduct me by throwing it over my little age 5 body, but I was able to escape between his legs from the back ! 🙏
I wonder if the police ever got a description of the man the children saw in the first and second murders. It sounds like the local police didn't have experience with these sorts of murders.
I also wonder about the door where the police dog stopped between the location of the "package" and the grandparents' home. BC reports no information on that, so I can only assumed no information was reported. But if the dog could accurately locate the location of Jeanne's home and where her body was found, that intermediate location should have been investigated!
@@Zaft_K I agree. I don't understand why they didn't conduct a search at that location. This investigation sounds really haphazard to me. I'm also curious about the grandfather's whereabouts and appearance, and whether anybody else such as other relatives or boarders lived in the house.
@@TheKulu42 there are a lot of unanswered questions. The grandfather may have had a strong alibi, if he was at the other job, but we don't know. Also, did Jeanne get to her mother's house before she disappeared, or no? That is an important question to establish the timeline. Finally, Jeanne left the grandparents' house around 6:30, then her dismembered corpse is found around midnight? That means a LOT of actions had to happen in a very short time. If the children saw Jeanne with this unknown man around 7:30, ... why? Why wasn't she at her mother's home, which was only minutes away from the grandfather's home??? BTW, I do *not* think the grandfather had anything to do with her murder. It just sounds like the police did not do even the most basic elements of an investigation.
@@Zaft_K Yes, the grandfather likely wasn't involved, but a good investigation is largely a process of elimination. A description of him and whether it matched that given by the children would be helpful. And I wonder if the family was questioned about friends and acquaintances Jeanne would know. A description of the man the children saw would be helped here, too.
When you hear these stories of tragedy befalling children in the past, you really understand how people are really looking at the past with nostalgia googles when they talk about some mythical time when children were completely safe playing unattended, or able to go about unmolested. While it was less likely that someone would harm a child in the past, children have always been targets of predators.
I wouldn’t say less often. It was more hidden and unheard. Like today, there was a huge disparity in reporting to newspapers. I’m actually surprised the first girl got any coverage given her mother’s social and economic status. Closing rates were also FAR lower, and a higher rate of wrongly convicted, so there was more repeat offenders. Children weren’t taken seriously, if the offender was in the family it would’ve been more likely to become a family secret. Not to say all this stuff doesn’t happen today. But one has to remember just how much we learn of today, and how FAR away we hear these stories. Most people only would’ve heard what happened in their immediate area.
Small children are so trusting. If offered candy from someone who seemed kind it's entirely possible she was willing to walk with a stranger. 😢 She was such a beautiful child and truly loved and cared for.
Not me! I was terrified of people as a child. I remember screaming when a man approached me in an elevator. Good thing too because there were a lot of Predators in the Public Housing Flats where we lived.

I know kids way back in the day were treated like mini-adults, worked, ran errands, all kinds of things. But the careless way they were sent off with adult strangers or on their own is horrifying.
We have been so evil toward each other forever. Technology lets us understand there isn't much new under the sun as far as the horrors of human behavior. 💔

The method of abducting Annette was identical to another child that you covered but ended quite differently. It was the Vampire of somewhere I don't remember. Love the way you deliver the stories, I've just subscribed. All the best💐
Thankyou :)
Thank you for your empathetic coverage of these terrible crimes. Poor little babes. 😢
Thanks for watching
Oh how sad! Two little girls lost forever. Thanks for the stories I Blessings !!!
I know kids way back in the day were treated like mini-adults, worked, ran errands, all kinds of things. But the careless way they were sent off with adult strangers or on their own is horrifying.
Just picked up this briefcase 💼 😂👍
Quality channel!!!!!!!!!! Great stuff.
Good morning BC, and thanks for another good video. It's amazing how monsters can walk amongst us and appear normal. 😢
We have been so evil toward each other forever. Technology lets us understand there isn't much new under the sun as far as the horrors of human behavior. 💔
@Brief Case just sad this one is. After all this time no closer to the killer/ killers of these terrible crimes. Those poor sweethearts.
Thank You for another one my friend💙 My heart goes out to the families of these stories even if the years have passed by, the feeling and wonder will always be . And to you Brief Case for being able to study, fall into these crimes, focus and tell these sometimes just plain sad and no need for any of these actions to have taken place to begin with. Love to you from over across the waters on the Bluenose Coast 💙🤍
Thanks April :)

What a sad story 😢 terrible to think that a child can't even walk around with the fear of being murdered.R.I.P Jeanne and Añnette. Hope Justice gets done. So sad that the case went cold. 🙏🙏🙏

Well done sir. Thank you for sharing this sad story.
Thanks for watching
Fascinating. Thank you
The method of abducting Annette was identical to another child that you covered but ended quite differently. It was the Vampire of somewhere I don't remember. The guy committed crimes indiscriminately. He had a big sister go buy him cigarettes while he stayed with the little sister, strangled the little one in the bushes then, when the older sister returned, he repeated the crime with her 😢
I love how they looked down on unwed mothers. What about the guy who got her pregnant?
Great job on the video 😊
Thanks
Thanks very much. Enjoyed.
