It’s a hard NO. News boats are crazy expensive. I’ve got an 04 wakesetter for 25k. Cruise control, comfortable seating, v8 motor, ballast bags, sound system… the list goes on. No way anyone should drop over 30k on a boat. It’s just a boat to go have fun on. Not a huge financial liability. Unless you buy new, then yes your in the hole with a huge payment.
Boat prices have gone through the roof over the last 20 years. When Yamaha made their first 23 foot boat back in 2003, it sold for $26000. Today they sell their 22 footer at prices up to almost 90k.

The brakes which is so game changing barely did anything, you just took a different angle and steered instead of going straight, putting a regular boat in reverse would stop much quicker than that
It actually does slow down much faster, but you're right. Slamming a boat in reverse is the same thing. It's just easier to do and easier on the gear to do it with the ibr system.
@@JetBoatPilot no you can pretty much look at a product and see that the quality is just not there to make it last 20 years. It doesn't have aluminum sidewalls it has fabric
@@duanesmith5074 I realize that it has an isenglass type curtain around the sides and that will likely get replaced over time. I guess my feeling is that this boat has potential to be a really solid choice for new boaters and a 20 year life span is not likely on their list of important attributes. They'll likely sell the boat in a few years and upgrade to a newer or bigger boat as they acclimate to boating. Time will tell how long it holds up. I just don't think that it should be discounted just because SeaDoo chose polymers instead of aluminum for pontoon material. Aluminum corrodes and dents and can fill with water if punctured. These pontoons are designed to actually fill partially with water to increase weight and stability and are filled with a foam core that prevents the boat from sinking. It's pretty innovative if you ask me.
@@JetBoatPilot rigid inflatable boats are used in life-saving situations so yeah they are and can be extremely strong when designed to be extremely strong.

@@williamgleaton2992 You are really not comparing apples to apples here... you are comparing a 50 hp to a 130 hp motor, to get a similar size outboard motor you are going to spend 13k-15k for the motor alone. And 50 hp is the maximum size motor you can put on that Bass Buggy, so you would have to step up to a bigger more expensive boat if you wanted a similar size motor. Then if you step up to the 21' 230 hp switch... to get a similar size tri-toon pontoon with that size motor you are going to spend upwards of 80k. Granted that 80k pontoon is going to be a nicer boat than the 21' switch but it's a lot easier for most people to afford a 21' 230 hp switch for 40k vs 80k for that 21' 250 hp pontoon. I get if that 16' 50 hp bass buggy is all you need then the switch is definitely not the boat for you... switch was designed for someone who wants more of a performance orientated pontoon.

I guess what I feel is that this boat brings to the table several new benefits/innovations that make boating better and easier to get into. Many are intimidated by the idea of Docking or launching or landing or maneuvering around other boats. This boat dispels any concern almost immediately. Safety features that help the boat slow down quickly with zero skill required to do so again encourages newcomers to boating to take the plunge. Fun is a big deal to many and PWC riders are always looking to upgrade. This boat is a flat out blast to drive! @Jeff Bryner it was the first year of production and no one really knew how well it was going to do. It won boat of the year from Boating Magazine and other awards. @@frankduci7784 thanks Frank. I stopped by my Marina yesterday, its actually on a USAF base and they have available cradles as they are just now starting to store pontoons.
The price sees to be somewhere between $22,000 and $36,000. Which is it?
Depends on length and options. I don't think any Switch can be bought in 2023 for 22k
@@JetBoatPilot And over $50k at the high end.
@@rashick11 yep, I've seen some 21 footers with all the gear getting near 60K with fees and tax.
Brakes. It's called reverse. The mobility is really nice though
That is what I was thinking. Cripes why wouldn't they say a very small draft like any jet boat and maneuverability would be thing 1 and 2. But again durability I don't know.
And it's the fastest rising cost of any boat I've ever seen, at first they were around $19,000 one year later now they are selling around $27,000 to $34,000.
Because the engine size went up.
2 words: Game Changer
Looks great.
Great video and product. But the heavy bass music is a bit obnoxious.
Sorry about that. We wanted high energy.
Noticed you have different flooring. Is this something you did personally?
Yes we make it.
As someone who spent 20 yrs in the boat business. God help anyone who owns a rotax engine.
As someone with 165k miles on a rotax motorcycle engine I could not be happier.
Is that why victory motorcycle went out of business
Victory motorcycles are great. They went out of business because they prioritized “indian” motorcycles
Wait are you an Evinrude guy or a Sea Doo guy? This is not an evinrude engine
Why?
the switch is a good value -- it will do 170 mph from the factory without any modification while fully loaded in rough seas
@@debbiekonkin5768 down hill with a tail wind
170 mph?
@@dukefurst5741 well, that is the model with the General Electric GE90 jet engine with 115,000 lbs of thrust in place of the Rotex jet. It should be closer to 600 mph after break in.
Put a couple extra people on it and it becomes a slow ride. The "furniture" is held down with Velcro. Different strokes for different folks.
It's definitely not a rocket ship, but still super fun. I have not seen any velcro on my boat.
@Required User Name it's affordable compared to others in this class, it's youthful and it is a blast to drive. Not to mention the ease of control around the dock, it is very easy for someone with very little experience to become proficient very quickly.
Our 21/230 Switch Cruise still hits 38 with 6 people. Not nearly as fast as our 32 ft cruiser (51mph with 13 people on board) but plenty of fun.
@@JetBoatPilot people have the narrow mind that these motors are just toys.yet don't realize that scarab has been using these same motors for over 15 years plus other manufacturers.i believe all the way up to 23 ft cruising boats.and yamaha has I believe a25 ft boat.been at watercraft service for over 30 years.change the oil and filter keep an eye on coolant level change the plugs half way thru the season as a precautionary measure and enjoy the boat.it will give you years of trouble free usage.
@@denniswilder3014 thanks for the input.
30 mile an hour is not that fast but can't wait to see one on the lake
Ours is 43. Several are 45 mph.
I want one!
How seaworthy is it? Does it maintain stability in 4 ft. swells?
It was pretty stable in our rough water video. Watch it on our channel.
What's the top speed at max capacity? Can it pull a tube on plane with 2 riders?
Yes it can pull a tube well. Top speed we've seen before break in on our 18' 170hp has been 34 mph. After break in it may go a bit faster.
Our 21/230 hits 42 or 43 lightly loaded. Search Sea-Doo Switch top speed.
@@debbiekonkin5768 lol your just all against these things, do you work for the competition or what 😂
@@debbiekonkin5768 1-2 people, 8000 rpm. This has been a great boat for us.
@@debbiekonkin5768 I guess time will tell right?
I am in the Marine industry 46 years this is a very lightweight boat that is not going to last long at all
I guess time will tell. To determine how it will hold up over time just look at the reliability rates of the SeaDoo Spark which is its nearest of kin.
@@duanesmith5074 The fabric is a game changer lol
You sure it wasn’t made in a Tupperware factory
Actually has a solid aluminum I beam backbone. This thing rides great.
Looked like it stopped in 3/4 the distance
I think I actually got on the brakes late compared the first try without brakes.
It certainly feels like you stop a lot faster with the brakes…….
Only $250,000, yours today!
At that price i will part with ours!
You don’t hold down the gas and hit the brake. Just grab the brake. You will slow down a lot quicker…..
I thought that the brake was dependent upon RPM and holding down the throttle increases RPM for maximum stopping power. Are you saying that you get more RPMs by releasing the throttle?
Affordability that's just not true ,this boat starts at about $23,000 with a $1400 dollar service fee ,that ain't cheap. How do I know I checked with our local dealer 🤔
I guess affordable is relative when compared to other boats in the segment. But you're right. 25K for a 13 foot boat is kind of eye popping!
@@JetBoatPilot An example you can buy a 16 ft bass buggy with a 50 hp merc and a galvanized trailer for around $19,000 out the door I know I just priced them last month when I was looking at the Switch. Being a boater for 45 years I'd love to own one of the Swith models if I could afford it.
@@williamgleaton2992 I get it. Maybe one day you will. Thanks for connecting with us!
@@jam471975 What the hell are you talking about, that's has nothing to do with the price of the Switch to a bass buggy. Nothing at all
They're not that plush that's what I think about in a pontoon boat winterization much easier without board
No definitely not plush. If you want plush you gotta pay for that. This is an entry level toon with cool colors and easy to drive so it is inviting to new comers.
@@JetBoatPilot what's the cost
@@joeschneider8025 for the boat that we show in the video I think you can get one in the low 40's in 2023. We got ours before prices went bonkers in 2022 in the upper 30's.

Not sure Aluminum equals greater in every circumstance. Also this boat's backbone is a solid Aluminum I beam.
Music is way too intense.....
Can only imagine all the shit talking in comment section. Can we just appreciate that there are vessels for everyone to enjoy the water. Its like motorcyclists hating on trikes. Yawn.
I wonder if this guy thinks this boat is a total game changer.
Why yes, yes I do. Lol
It is the boat is cheap can be pulled by any vehicle gets decent fuel milage is quite and easy to see around and no prop to bang you shin on.
@Dennis Wilder we're predicting that this boat will make SeaDoobe the best selling pontoon and best selling jet boat brand in the world!
It’s only 20k for one of these. 😮
They sell three lengths. The shortest one starts around 20K on the website. But apparently they've gone up on prices since the making of this video.
Isn’t the game having fun on the water? I think you mean to say it changes the rules.
SeaDoo has a real winner on their hands and we predict they sell more than they can make for years into the future.
same technology as thrust reversers on a jet
Brakes on a boat
Fastest selling where? Not in Oklahoma lol I have only seen one on the water and it was getting water tested from a repair job a seadoo dealer was doing lol. No one wants these around here lol
They sold so many last year they could not keep up.
@JetBoatPilot maybe but ypu would think that dealerships would have a allotted amount per dealer like yamaha did with their 4stroke superjet. They were only allowed so many and people snapped them up. We still see them on the water where those we don't. Trust me Oklahoma is a pontoon state too haha.
@Jeff Bryner it was the first year of production and no one really knew how well it was going to do. It won boat of the year from Boating Magazine and other awards. I think most dealers will up their orders this year. Just give it time. People will get used to the idea and once they've driven one they'll fall in love with it like we did with ours.
@JetBoatPilot maybe. If the price is right and you have the certain person looking for that. No much luxury to them and the plastic flooring and handle bars is a turn off to alot of people I have been reading. I do like the option to change the seating around but the on I saw at the ramp just looked cheap like a spark. I can't really judge because I have never drove one. To each there own. As long as your happy that's all that matters
@Jeff Bryner true. If you ever get a chance to drive one, especially in some rough water, you'll know what made me really get excited about them.

You haven't driven many high horsepower tritoon pontoon boats before have you? There was nothing special about that turn at all. Very presumptuous of you. Sounds like you’ve never driven a Switch. Just judging without taking a real look at one.
No I don't have a ton of experience with typical pontoons and maybe this video did not convey what I felt in the seat of my pants. Watch this video at about the 6 min mark. Its a bit more compelling. th-cam.com/video/l4Ov1uljEuE/w-d-xo.html
Not a thumb throttle drive one I have driven many many tri toons and this switch will out turn one.been a tech for over 30 years and I doubted these when the rep brought it in and it is a fun boat.
@@denniswilder3014 my turn should have been to starboard since I did not have a passenger on the port side. My weight would have helped the boat turn even tighter.
Not exactly my idea of a game changing boat. Compromised pontoon boat at best, especially given the need for the jet drive portion of the hull to make contact with the water. Makes the craft more like a Tritoon but with a seriously underpowered propulsion system. At best this is a flawed entry into boating that’s seriously overpriced & a guaranteed way to throw one’s money away. I’d be surprised if this boat doesn’t end up going the way of the Seadoo Speedster.

Brakes is putting your motor in reverse
True, but this boat makes it easy since you don't have to spin the prop in the opposite direction. It's fast, convenient and more likely to be used since you won't feel like you're grinding your gears to switch to reverse suddenly.

The only reason my Sea Doo…is still working is…I disconnected the oil injection, and mix oil, it’s a 2 stroke Rotax, I put a correct working bilge in it. I plugged the scupper lines, and mainly I’m old and barely use it. And when I do, it’s very gingerly.
