  • Thanks for stopping by this new, KD9PCD Radio channel! I explain the device I use for a Zello Gateway and how I made the gateway a little bit better for my application.
    I am using a Motorola CDM-1250 VHF radio paired with an R1 Echolink Controller from BH7NOR Radio Studio. I also used a Harris XG-100P radio in the video.
    If you are looking to set up Zello for a first responder agency, check this link out. It is free for first responder agencies!! - zello.com/solutions/emergency...

    Oh, very cool. I've always wondered how people set up a repeater or DMR TG to Zello. That's a pretty sweet little setup ! Thanks for showing us around !

    Hey Question. Is there a reason that you did not choose the com port for receive audio as well. I originally had TX on Com port and RX on Vox like you do. However I noticed that I could choose Com port on RX as well. Seems to be working fine. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a hidden reason I did not know about?

    • @OverLordkv
      @OverLordkv 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have problem with RX side when use COM port configuration same like on video.
      USB Detection part works great, but when I use COM port then TX side is perfect, much better than VOX, but RX side don't work what ever I choose.
      Do you have something on mind that I need to set?

  • @olderookie

    Does the CDM allow for local control as well? Can you use the mic and access the radio network through the radio or is it no longer usable as a “base” radio.

    • @kd9pcdradio
      @kd9pcdradio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The audio that you would transmit with a mic would not go over the network. Receive would still work.

  • @FireAndEMS
    @FireAndEMS ปีที่แล้ว

    Now does the phone have to be on the same network WiFi wise as the host computer ?
    Interested in this for our volunteer EMS squad. We use a vhf repeater along with a separate trunking system. Would be neat and helpful for our squad members to have access to the vhf repeater without carrying a radio

    • @kd9pcdradio
      @kd9pcdradio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, any internet connection will do. That was kind of our thoughts too, we have a VHF repeater with poor coverage among our entire area. We have this app on our truck iPads, truck smartphones, and employee phones. They can access the radio channel from anywhere they have internet.

    Question: Can you show how the small PCB connects to the back of the Motorola radio? I am interested in setting this up on a Motorola XTL2500 or an XTL5000 but I am not sure if the PCB will work or if I need to pin out specifically for those models.

    • @kd9pcdradio
      @kd9pcdradio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need to pin specifically for those models. I’ve not found a device on the market that is plug and play for the XTL series. If you contacted a company like RoxiTech, they would likely have that cord available with their Zello setup, but nothing readily available to buy that I’ve found.

    Hey question how to you change the ptt tone type on the xg-100p ?

    • @kd9pcdradio

      I’m not sure that you can. I believe I selected to enable a tone to emit when “talk around” is selected, or when you key up on a simplex channel.

    I’ve noticed that you have the 16 pin device flip over . I’ve seen that 16 pin device Faced the other way . Does it diferentiate from radio to radio . Motorola models ?

    • @kd9pcdradio
      @kd9pcdradio  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s how this particular pin just happened to work. I’m not sure if it was built upside down or what, but if I try the other way it doesn’t work for me.

    So what Motorola mobile radios have the vox function or kenwood radios but not digital

    • @kd9pcdradio
      @kd9pcdradio  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I contacted RoxiLink, they advised me that I could pretty much choose any radio, as they had cables to fit 95% of radios in use by public safety. The Kenwood TK-790 that I used for my work setup had to have some soldering work in order to make it compatible. With the EchoLink R1, the only radios I believe it’s compatible with are the Motorola radios with 16 or 20 pin connectors on the back, so the CDM series was the easiest for me to use. It then only had some programming modifications that it needed.

    Zello is great, but it requires internet to work. Anyone know of any ROIP gateways or peripherals that allow you to simply setup your own dhcp or static IP addresses and communicate over any LAN/WAN without relying on 3rd party cloud services? I've yet to come across anything that is cheap and flexible.

      Mumble will do the trick, it allows local hosting - the server can be run on the gateway computer. I've got a developmental Mumble-P25 LMR link running for long-term stability testing and am pleased with it.

    gud day sir , do you have knowledge on electronics ? mine is only a radio baofeng UV82 with BOOSTER on it and a ZELLO apps on my ANDROID cellphone ,thats it , no WIFI no COMPUTERS only DATA that last a year for only 4$ to load here in philippines , my set up has no LATENCY and its REALTIME, i only use a 4 RELAY CHANNEL DTMF tone decoder and a SOUNDCARD wirh relay to switch the PTT of the radio , i do not use the VOX of that radio its too long to release the PTT of the radio causing too much delay, instead i use soundcard , why BAOFENG UV82 its because it has a VOICE prompt to hear it when you change CHANNELIZED FREQUENCY , even when your far away you can change the FREQUENCY of a radio buy KEYING button 1-2-3-4 on your handling cellphone, you will hear the channel frequency on your holding cellphone when you change frequency channel that program on your radio , its economical . . .
