It’s Americans who don’t know how to tighten a bolt or drain gas. They just curb them for someone to pickup or for the garbage truck and then they buy a new one
Great save. My lawn boy also had numerous safety's. Consider adding some brass brushes and emery cloth so your repertoire of tools. Cleaning the shaft on the starter drive and some 3in1 should keep it starting smooth for a long time.
A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 absolutely. I have a 4 year old lawnboy that wouldn't start. Took it for repairs . The carburetor was full of gunk. Now I only use super grade gas. Not only that . To my astonishment it is made in friggin China.
yeah the damn chinese items are never any good. My toro was made in america, and so were my chevy's, and they are all over 17 years old and they work great. My welder i got from a cheap chinese knockoff and it has already given me tons of issues!
I know this is an old video but where do you find lawnmowers and such? I would love to start doing this more often but can’t seem to find em like you do! I just got a ryobi 4 stroke weed eater working and really enjoyed it, the money too lol. Anyway i enjoy watching all your vids, they’ve taught me a LOT, even though i think we’re about the same age. Thanks for spreading your knowledge
Good job. The consumer lawn equipment business would go bankrupt if they had to rely only on mowers wearing out instead of clueless owners who screw them up.
Quick note, always check the blade, sometimes people leave them loose or off completely, if it doesn't have a blade it wont run, the blade has a flywheel effect on the engine, plus if its loose it's a safety issue. I've seen mowers not run because the blade was so worn down.
Good find on that fancy pants mower. Plenty of oil in it. Ha ha, 1st pull! Free VW coming too. Awesome. Hot pink hack and the starter's working. LOL! Nice job bud.
Check leakdown to check rings, valves, and head gasket. Change the oil. Tune the engine. Change the blade. Adjust idle adjustments. Remove the flywheel and replace the top seal and replace the lower seal.
I've had a few free mowers where the previous owner overfilled it with oil, it's not hard to check oil in a mower yet people still overfill them and then their mower smokes real bad and they think there is something serious wrong with the mower so they throw it out and get a new one and the process eventually repeats lol.
If you ever start traveling I an between Tampa, Sarasota and st Pete Florida, have hookup for your camper and you are welcome to stay free. Bring Beetle so she can play with Fred, Kodi and Bolt, the dogs! You can be in any above cities in 20 min from my house.
I just remove and kit the carbs If engine junk I remove carbs and dump fuel out and into zip lock bags with information on engine size 😊 Very few people will have the electric start fixed but they sale good if they do 😊
Great video........I also watch a guy in NH his channel is Mustie1 and he fixes about anything.Really into VWs and odd things people send him to fix.The coolest thing I saw Mustie1 do was he flew on a jet to somewhere....and took his Garmin GPS from his car and it was reading 478 MPH....what a hoot.Oh BTW....I was #78 thumbs up
Where do you guys find all of these trash mowers? Only way I can get them is to post on nextdoor. Nobody ever puts anything at the curb for whatever reason.
Not sure it it's weight on that catchbag safety that makes it work...it looks more electrical...like something iron has to be in the groove. Theory easily tested with something non-iron in the groove.
Yes, you could pull the starter cord , but not all users can. Age demographics and operational convenience is part of marketing, not all units come with this feature. Many users have limited use of hands, or shoulders. The very reason why at least one neighbor has a similarly equipped unit.
You know what oneself learned from watching this video here ? People are just not willing to take the fix their own junk , so people go out and buy more junk because this is how our society teaches us huh , throw out what we cannot fix for those of us that do not want to learn how to repair their own equipment huh .
You should go back to the address and the mower and say hey why did she throw this this out while covertly recording them act like you did nothing to it just put gas in it
Where in the world do you guys live that you keep finding mowers in the trash. in fucking Houston can't even find trash in the trash let alone mowers and weed eaters or anything .
lol i live in vermont, i find all my stuff at my local scrapyard. I'm friends with the owner and he lets me take mowers for free because I drop off so much scrap metal to him.
Love ur old Chev truck, good fix with the LawnBoy.
Im bored lookin through your past vids, your very talented
Those Tecumseh engines were good runners as long as you maintained them. Good job on getting it going again
yes they were. and thanks
I'll give u double thumbs up for the amount of patience that u have.
Thanks!
thats a great looking mower! i wonder how many mowers are tossed into landfills with only minor problems?
more than you think!
It’s Americans who don’t know how to tighten a bolt or drain gas. They just curb them for someone to pickup or for the garbage truck and then they buy a new one
Mostly just neglect, a little tlc keeps them running forever.
The plastic gears ⚙️ in wheels wear a bit and get noisy but still work.
Good job kid. I sub to your channel. I like that you always kept your cool and kept trying and not give up.
Thanks for the sub!
Great save. My lawn boy also had numerous safety's. Consider adding some brass brushes and emery cloth so your repertoire of tools. Cleaning the shaft on the starter drive and some 3in1 should keep it starting smooth for a long time.
thanks
Awesome job on that Lawn Boy
My dad had a lawnboy for 33 years. Amazing machine. Never sell it.
the older ones were built tougher!

A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 . Yup. From now on I ONLY buy American. And maybe Japanese like a Honda.
Love your vids man!! Keep up the great work!
thanks!

amen to that. just want to let you know I watch all your videos and I appreciate you checking my channel out.

thanks I'll check this in the future
Or flipped upside down - THAT's a reason to haul the mower to the dump!! Who wants a mower that doesn't cut right? :~)
Good find on that fancy pants mower. Plenty of oil in it. Ha ha, 1st pull! Free VW coming too. Awesome. Hot pink hack and the starter's working. LOL! Nice job bud.
Lol thanks
You make me want to work on mowers
Are you getting these from the actual dump or when people throw them out around you?
from the actual dump. if I get it from when people throw them out around me i say it at the beginning of the video.
Check leakdown to check rings, valves, and head gasket. Change the oil. Tune the engine. Change the blade. Adjust idle adjustments. Remove the flywheel and replace the top seal and replace the lower seal.
Got a toro mower, the flywheel shattered while running, braking the shaft, and everything on the mower
Heck ya I love free mowers
How did you talk the dump into letting you pick up free mowers
They are all free! Anyone can pick them up, I just spend a lot of time there so I get most of them : )
I've had a few free mowers where the previous owner overfilled it with oil, it's not hard to check oil in a mower yet people still overfill them and then their mower smokes real bad and they think there is something serious wrong with the mower so they throw it out and get a new one and the process eventually repeats lol.
yeah it's crazy lol
This video was very helpful. It guided me to how the keystart on those Tecumseh work..
Great video dude!
Well done !
thanks!
Did you change the oil? Looked like it may have had gas in it...
yes i did
So, if you DON'T want to bag, that mower don-t work?
Hard to believe.
I see snow and no coat on, can’t take the cold weather anymore 😢
Runs good for a newer Tecumseh good video sometimes you get lucky
yeah this one was a nice find
If you ever start traveling I an between Tampa, Sarasota and st Pete Florida, have hookup for your camper and you are welcome to stay free. Bring Beetle so she can play with Fred, Kodi and Bolt, the dogs! You can be in any above cities in 20 min from my house.
what kind of blade do you use to mow snow?
I just remove and kit the carbs
If engine junk I remove carbs and dump fuel out and into zip lock bags with information on engine size 😊
Very few people will have the electric start fixed but they sale good if they do 😊
did you squeeze the engine stop when starting
Yes I did
You got your self a nice lawn mower
it sure is nice
Great video........I also watch a guy in NH his channel is Mustie1 and he fixes about anything.Really into VWs and odd things people send him to fix.The coolest thing I saw Mustie1 do was he flew on a jet to somewhere....and took his Garmin GPS from his car and it was reading 478 MPH....what a hoot.Oh BTW....I was #78 thumbs up
thanks. I also watch mustie one and enjoy his videos. And I'll actually have a video on a 1971 VW Superbeetle next week!
Silicone spray, not wd-40. Lasts longer. Great job on diagnosing all the problems 👍
Man that's a great find 👍
It sure is!
You can get a generic replacement battery on eBay for $16 with free shipping.
i decided to sell this one without a battery.
Nice choice with the pink duct tape I don't think I've seen that but what the hell. I think you must be just lucky
I just work with what I have lol. Thanks for watching
Dang in Knoxville Tn you go to jail if you take things from the dump
Luckily I dont live there
you should check to see if it wad charging the battery
i did, it was not.
Where do you guys find all of these trash mowers? Only way I can get them is to post on nextdoor. Nobody ever puts anything at the curb for whatever reason.
I find them at the dump, if you watch this video: th-cam.com/video/YLg_rN_uc5k/w-d-xo.html and go 42 seconds in, I show where I get them.
I got one like that, your missing the mulch plug where the bagger goes.
I saw that something was missing there
Not sure it it's weight on that catchbag safety that makes it work...it looks more electrical...like something iron has to be in the groove. Theory easily tested with something non-iron in the groove.
Nice score and fix
thanks
7:27 that’s what she said
lol
I found one just like this and it had thrown a rod and I took the cover off of it and the block just crumbled to pieces
Yikes
Okay I'm I the only one thinking this what's the point of the power start If I could just pull the cord
Ryan Scherbluk some ladies cant pull enough torque to start.
Yes, you could pull the starter cord , but not all users can. Age demographics and operational convenience is part of marketing, not all units come with this feature. Many users have limited use of hands, or shoulders. The very reason why at least one neighbor has a similarly equipped unit.
What’s your name?
its a mystery....
A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 you punk lol😂
free VW Golf lucky you :)
I'm excited
I never had a walk behind mower I regretfully tossed out.
12:20 "green tape"
oops
You know what oneself learned from watching this video here ? People are just not willing to take the fix their own junk , so people go out and buy more junk because this is how our society teaches us huh , throw out what we cannot fix for those of us that do not want to learn how to repair their own equipment huh .
yes we live in a throw away society
Wow I thought having more engine oil is better. Lol.
Well it is better to have a little too much than too little...but not this much
Lawn boy in the trash is still a great find even with needed repairs.
Yeah it was a great find
no one over filled the oil it was gas leaked into it.
nope it was oil
Smell the "oil" next time to see if the float is sticking and sending gas past the rings and to the oil sump.
cool video
12:20 You meant pink tape
oops yeah
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 lol
Never found a Honda mower at the trash dump ,what does that tell you !.
I've found a couple lol. But they are great mowers
That mowers with a Briggs engine rust more than the ones with a Honda engine?
Check the oil twice next time
I love it
thanks
You should go back to the address and the mower and say hey why did she throw this this out while covertly recording them act like you did nothing to it just put gas in it
Dude you're awesome. 1 more sub
Thanks!
WD40 is not a lubricant
wrong
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 it's main use is a water displacer (hence WD 40 days) and as a solvent, true penetrating oil works a lot better

Ohh and by the way I hate tecumseh lawn mower motors
That’s the ugliest fucking mower I’ve ever seen
