A life changing quote from Kita is about getting nervous before a game, and he basically says that guys feel nervous because in their hearts they want to do beyond their current capabilities and that's just ridiculous.
For me is okay to want more, but do all the worrying and wanting afterwards.

    • @M.Estelle
      @M.Estelle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +50

Yes!! He says the only reason people need to get nervous is if they are trying to do better then their current capabilities. I always remind myself of this before comps in my sport. If you can do it in practice you can do it in competition

The best leader is a hero. My favorite hero is an everyman, someone humble, modest, unremarkable on the surface. The only reason this pedestrian is at all notable is due to their strong will and work ethic. Despite their new-found talent and reputation they don't lose themselves. They are the definition of progressive growth, "little by little". To me this is the pure essence of Shonen... Now, whether or not Shonen lives up to this ideal is a whole other can of worms. At the very least it is the ideal most Shonen approach, and the ideal Shinsuke Kita has achieved.

I love people who genuinely and even excessively understands their limitations and still chooses to go above and beyond, not for himself but for those who he cares about. There’s something in it that makes me have hope in humans and of human will. I can’t put it into words, but if I had a chance to relive my life, I would like to be that person.

@@sockthief9138 For as long as we are alive we can still be that person. It's interesting how some people figure out their lives in their mid 40s. It seems like they wasted their youth and well they kinda did. But to make that change they couldn't dwell on it. Since they could never go back looking forward was the only way out. Same goes for us.

Kita's weapon is his unwavering, exceptional competence. It's something that takes a long time to build up to, but is the fundamental building blocks of his character. It's what makes him so admirable, despite not having the crazy abilities of the Miwas or Kageyama, or Ushiwaka's physical advantages.

I´m of the same opinion as you on Kita´s job post graduation. When I saw the pages/panels, I was like: "Yeah, that´s Kita Shinsuke."
It encapsulates everything he stands for. The daily actions and efforts he put into his work, with his yield as the product of this.
And that Miya Osamu specifically buys from Kita later on just warms my heart! XD
Kita is my favorite Inarizaki player.
The way he faces the ordinary, daily life with such earnesty, the way he is so extraordinarily stable and reliable. The care he puts into everything and everyone around him is admirable.

Kita moved me a lot when I first saw him. I have played tennis all my life but I have never considered myself an outstanding player. I didn’t have a lot of raw talent, but I was blessed with a perfect height, a good mentality and the willing to put the hours in.
Even though I don’t have a lot of achievements in the sport, I have some of which I’m really proud of. Now I’m playing again and for the first time in my life I’m playing as a young adult, with no pressure and enjoying it with friends.
I know I will never achieve pro level, but that doesn’t stop me to being able to enjoy playing every day that I can, improving my daily habits, and being just a little bit better than I was yesterday. I’m playing with the hope of being better than when I was younger and played 4+ hours a day. With the right mentality, I might achieve it one day. One day at the time

And its exactly quotes like Kitas that makes you realise that world is already beautifull place you just need to look the right way on it.

I don’t even watch haikyuu but I love this character so much. This kind of people in general is so so rare in fiction because they’re usually brushed off as a super small character because they’re just “not as interesting”, and it’s even more rare in reality. But in truth, they’re so precious

Yes, yes, yes! Kageyama is called genius, but he works his arse off every step of the way. He never assumes that he will be always better than anyone else, he swallows his pride and asks Oikawa for advice JUST to be better. Not many people, even grown-ups, would do that. Kageyama is my fav character for this reason - he works hard and hates wasted potential ("What have you been doing for those three years?!") , and him, not being understood for that - that hit too close to home.
Kita is my second fav for reasons you highlighted in this video. He steadily builds his strength and leadership. He is that one stable thing in Inarizaki's crazy team - and he does it great.

i have a quite similar reason to why one of my favorite sports anime characters is sendoh from slam dunk. although ion know much about basketball, watching him really makes it obvious of his dedication, skills and expertise towards his own sport (such like oikawa). but a very interesting thing about him is that he knows when to compromise winning. he is aware of how good the other players within his radius were, and just, played with great sportsmanship, nothing more nothing less. and another favorite scene that truly made him one of the most well written character in sports anime IMO was that one time he sat by the beach, quietly fishing. he gives himself enough freedom to breathe life, despite having every potential to become a star player. and even after his fame and whatnot, despite the fact that even rukawa looked up on his skills, he remained simple, a word inherently close to being humble, just like kita. and it makes the viewers feel the same and want to contain themselves with the same peace in life. no sport is ever as important as breathing life, accepting things as they are, no principle is bigger than just wanting to breathe life bcs life is so short and unpredictable to waste on getting frustrated from fame and things that are obviously not gonna last.

Wow I'd never expect my comment to be shown in one of your videos, the level of respect and relatability I have for you just skyrocketed, especially since I too thought that for every self improvement philosophy I'm very sure Kita's mindset of how "You are the sum of your daily habits" is the foundation for every other principle, since it's also based on the book Atomic Habits, "You don't rise to the levels of your goals, you fall to the levels of your systems".
Much Love, this is also the culmination of everything you've covered, since if you watch this and another Barou video afterward, it would seem to contradict each other, but as you said, "What works for you, works for you", and the way that Kita who was both smart and disciplined ended up a farmer is just perfect writing.
Hope we meet someday as high value men, much love.

Congrats on 50K subs and here is to many more.
Kita's advice is so good and simple that it is hard. I am someone who struggles with consistency. I tend to move like waves on a windy day. The weather will dictate the waves and it isn't always the best thing but it works sometimes.
For years I have been trying to get into a set routine but think that is the wrong mindset. I am now trying to plan fixed actions that leave space for the waves. Steven Hollet and Chris Willamson were talking about how to avoid procrastination. In that conversation, they mentioned balancing the desire to do something, the cost, and the sacrifice.
If you are like me doing what Kita does seems impossible but it isn't if don't box yourself in. Find the balance of a goal to move you forward and fear(motivation) to run away from. If you don't change what is the worst thing that will most likely happen and if you do change what is the thing you wish to happen. I hope you find your answers and grow.

I always tried to "ritualize" my ways of changing, but fell back to my slouching self in the end. So, instead of making a change a big deal, why not just... making a simple and lowkey routine and enjoying the process? Might sound obvious for another person out there reading it, but that was exactly what I needed right now (to each its own, I guess). ... Someone once asked me, "Do you ever feel bitter over the fact that you're not a regular on the team, and amongst your juniors there's a genius to boot?"
I never understood the exact definition of what it was to be a genius to begin with but upon hearing the question, I understood the general gist of what they were getting at.
Every so often there will be someone who thinks that "people like Atsumu" were "good" from the get-go. But the thing is, if I practiced something from 1-10 every day, then people like Atsumu would have done it from 1-20.
Or, they would have done the same 10 but in a more efficient or concentrated manner. They might also ask "instead of doing it 1-10, how about I tried it from A-Z, what would happen then? Now doesn't that sound interesting?" They're the kind of people who think about stuff like that.
Even if they fail, even if they are hated and get ostracised by others, no matter whether they're right or they're wrong, even if they subvert something the rest of us hold in high regard, they're the kind of people who can't sit still without giving it a go.
Even if they start coughing up blood from their lungs, they're the kind of people who want to keep on running, no matter what.
There's going to be a lot of people in this world who make you go 'wow, I'll never be able to defeat them', and it's only natural that you think they're amazing people.
I think that to be able to keep charging ahead is a talent in and of itself. You can call people like them whatever you like, the term "genius" isn't exactly an insult.
That said, to think that they were "good from the get go", is to condemn yourself to a predetermined defeat without even playing in a match against them, and I also think it's very rude.
... I know you didn't really mean it that way, sorry for getting all serious about it.
"... No. In this case, it's totally my bad for saying something so thoughtless.
I still do think though, that monsters truly exist..."
... Yeah, yer right, I think so too. The kind of monsters who love volleyball day after day. We meet them, stand on the same court as them, and battle agains them with a net between us.
    I'm like a mortal who's stumbled upon a monster's banquet. Lucky me.
    - Kita, Shinsuke

Congratulations! And thank you, you introduced me to my absolute favorite anime, Blue Lock. I think that is because of your insights. Had I have not been introduced to your channel by your Vinland saga videos I likely would have never watched Blue Lock and I credit your analysis for making it my favorite anime. Here's to 50K more!

Great video and perfect summary of what Kita's way of thinking is! Thank you!
Kita's approach to challenges is exactly how I go about for my music concerts. I'm a drummer and when I was young, whenever we had a big concert or when I had to play a small solo part, I used to get horrible anxiety attacks. I've learned his way of thinking before Haikyuu was being made but he reminded me of this simple fact: _Why should I be afraid of playing that solo part? I did practice it hundreds of times, we did rehears if with the band over and over again. I know I can do it! So let's just do it!_
With this way of thinking I actually could turn my anxiety into excitement! _I practised so much, now I wan to show the world what I can do!_
It might be viewed as a "simple" mindset but it requires a lot of dedication, at least at first. And what you get out of it is calmness and clarity.
And gradually you will become "good" at it. Combined with the "being good means being free" quote, it's the first step to get ready to fly!

Beautiful video. I hope that people can find peace in this video. I hope for all the people who follow this great advice and still feels like maybe they want a bit more dont forget that these principles are still important to yourself and the others around you. Perspectives are great to add meaning and values to life , so make sure you keep to your principles while you add onto your life in other areas.

Thankyou for reminding how much i loved kita as a character and also the fact that results are just a bi-product, as I have forgotten it, my ideal that helped through my degree.

His quote about geniuses is very inspiring and important for people to hear. Geniuses are not aliens born with something special, they are normal people, who just train 100x times more than others. Calling someone a genius is acknowledging you don’t train as much as they do. That’s so important in Haikyu, because a lot of fans think that people like Kageyama are born like this, and it implies they did nothing special to get at the level they’re at. A genius is 100% a hard worker.

Well thank you so much its like ur a god send being who came to guide someone like me who always doubts myself despite putting all the effort even while "practicing" I'm scared of the result so i didn't really enjoy the process nor the result were satisfying. But now your words gave me new perspective. I hope you read this with a smile. Thank you lots of love!

Another absolute banger!, Congrats on the 50K bro! This one was really special, usually in Hiakyuu characters I see small fragments of myself and they help me understand how I deal with it, Kita however seems like an alien to me, It's these kinds of characters that really change up your perspective, really well done mate.
