Around February 1997, I remember going to the Rainforest Cafe in the Sawgrass Mills outlet mall in Sunrise, south Florida. The restaurant was so popular that the mall changed its Sunday closing hour from 6PM to 8PM, to accommodate the large crowds who went to the restaurant. By the entrance, there was a worker with a blue hyacinth macaw or two. Those macaws are now strictly regulated, to prevent smugglers from capturing macaws in the wild and later selling them as pets. The good old days.

The Rainforest Café is a beautiful place filled with the most unique decorations you could ever think of. It’s brilliant to see all the good they have to offer.
When I was 15 all I wanted for my birthday was to go to Rainforest Cafe and get a volcano brownie dessert. My parents said we could go and I could bring my 4 BFF’s. I was so excited and the day before I had a field hockey match. I got a broken finger and chipped off 3 of my front teeth. We still went and somewhere there is a picture of me smiling with my Jack O Lantern grin and my 4 BFF’s and a giant sparkler brownie volcano. It was the best! 😂 I would always get the “planet pasta” and it was always my favorite. I haven’t been to a Rainforest Cafe in years. This makes me want to go again. 😂

My work puts up Christmas lights for Steven Schussler every year. The trees we put lights in always look nice and tasteful except for one that always puzzles. It’s a crabapple tree that’s no taller than 10 ft and gets wrapped in about 500 ft worth of lights. When we first did it, he did not think that was enough and has added more lights to it every year. Last I checked, it’s getting about 1440 ft of lights. Nice guy. Orders us pizza whenever we work for him.
I remember going there a long time ago at Westfarms Mall in CT....they had a salad with polenta croutons that I really enjoyed....that's all I remember lol
If you’re having frozen drinks, or ice cream, keep a glass of room temperature water handy. When you feel the pain start, take a swig of water and hold it in your mouth for a few seconds. Works! 😁

The rainforest cafe is so much fun with my kids and I'm a kid at heart so we always had fun at Disneyland and San Francisco.. Great episode for the memories.. It's the experience.. The food is ok haha
I grew up going to the Rainforest Cafe downtown Chicago. They closed it down a few years ago and now I’m sad! This was a great episode! Brought back memories 🥹
Sadly both Rainforest Cafe locations in Orange County, CA (including the one you mentioned in the Disneyland Resort) closed years ago. They did have live birds, but outside in front of the restaurant, to comply with health regulations.
I wish it was as good as it looked, but it's like a lot of the food at similar chains (i.e. Planet Hollywood). You are really paying for the atmosphere, but the food and drinks are so hit and miss.

I used to live in Chicago area and would go to the Woodfield Mall and downtown locations but I just saw they both closed in 2020 ☹️. Glad to see they are still around it’s a great experience. I was watching this going "why did this restaurant trigger a migraine? It's nice and dark." Then the thunderstorm started and I was like "oh, it's that restaurant." Those fake storms were really loud.
They used to have an awesome portabella mushroom sandwich; haven't been to Rainforest in several years.. inspired to bring the family after watching this. Thanks Julia!
Yes, been waiting for the Rainforest Cafe! 🌴❤One of my favorite restaurants to go to! Love the idea of the animals, jungle and the whole experience, what a fun idea! All the food looked bombed but, definitely would get the nachos, salmon and shrimp, fajitas and either the cheesecake or key lime! Yum! ❤😋
The original one at the Mall of America location actually closed. It was on the first floor and was amazing. It had huge aquariums and you walked under the aquarium like an archway. They reopened a second one on the second floor with no aquariums, and much smaller. That is the one that is open at the Mall of America now.
I’m frankly amazed at this. RFC is so unbelievably expensive for what they serve and the food is edible at best. The budget for this video must’ve been insane.
