none of the reviews I've watched mention the problem this scope has with lens cap just falling off!
I thought I did. I've done two. To be fair, mine didn't fall off, I pulled it off. There was a delivery of replacements just before Christmas, and I'm told there another lot on the way. I might do another update, found a firmware issue and there's an update for that.
I think the DS35 50RF with its greater field of view would be more suitable for sub 12 air rifles.
I think that's the idea. As soon as one becomes available, I'll have a look at. Usually I'm the last to get hold of one though 😁
Would this scope be suited for use on a cf rifle at night with an extra ir ? Just wondering what range you might get out of it. I use the wulf 4k at the moment and can see clearly at remarkable ranges on foxes. I guess what I’m asking is how would you compare it to the wulf or the other 4k day night scopes?
It's good enough for a centre fire and with an added IR, you'll get the range. Chris Parkin has been using one for a while now. He can tell you a lot more than I can at the moment. He tests a lot of NV kit too. 👍
It would be very effective at hunting in 🔅 low light conditions 🙂👍
It's amazing in low light. Tbh, I'm not a big fan of battery-powered kit. This is an exception, though.
Hello, explain how the lens cap works, without the need to focus. With the lens cap closed, do you mean that the small hole is also closed?
Hi, it's an old camera trick, similar to the way that box browny cameras used to work. I don't know the exact science, but here's what I think. The small aperture in the lens cap increases the depth of field. This creates a much longer focus field. So once focused on an object, when you move the scope, it can keep focus on other things. Within the longer focus field. Also, it protects the sensor in strong light conditions that would otherwise overwhelm it. Now I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.
Website stated: 800p circular live-view screen, I am I wrong?
So why many reviewers are saying 1080P /or nothing at all, except being clear?
I've not looked at the website, and I can't really speak for other reviewers. I said it was clear and sharp because I think it is. There seems to be a couple of pard websites, but if that's what you saw, you must know. So I'd say you're right.

Like for examples: "Pro" models are used when it's really has a pro price.
ATN boasted 4K when it's not 4K viewing.
Thermal rifle scopes have overall lousy resolution below 480p but nailing at $5,000.00 USD!
Then comes the 1 inch (25.4mm) when it's not even close being 0.63 inch (15.9mm).

Was thinking about getting one but not enough clearance in the gun cabinet for the IR and range finder.
Well, it's a one-shot zero. Might be worth popping it on and off. I do know that there is another variation on its way that doesn't have integrated IR and LRF. So you could add an IR torch when needed. That's top secret, by the way. Don't tell anyone 😉
The thought did occur to me. I was thinking of putting it on a rimfire. Trying to cut down on weight and bulk. Me included.
@Bugsy Boy it's pretty lightweight. If you look up Chris Parkin shooting, he's got a great video on this scope, with a rim Fire.
