Guitarist Henry Garza wrote the lyrics as a prayer. When he was 18, his son died of sudden infant death syndrome (S.I.D.S). It's about the pain he felt and wanting to escape this world and see his son.
These guys are back touring this year after cancelling a bunch of shows in 2019 after bassist jojo announced he was leaving the band. These guys are three brothers from San Angelo TX.
I saw Los Lonely Boys open for Santana back in 2005 or 2006 and they KILLED IT! This song "Heaven" was a #1 hit and the audience back home in Detroit sang every word along with the singer, it was VERY cool😎
@@dennytaylor1005 yeah it was a great show and dare I say...Los Lonely Boys were the better band🤔 Maybe I'm a little jaded because Santana didn't go deeper into his catalog because he played his 3 go to's only as far as his "old stuff".
I was working the Santana rehearsals for that tour and the Los Lonely Boys came in on the day of the show. I think it might have been their very first big concert tour and their family was there and everyone was so excited, taking pictures backstage. The drummer had personalized drum sticks with "Ringo" on them and they now sit in my closet in a box of stuff from 22 years of concerts.
...Where are they now? This was an excellent Tex Mex Blues Band. They were great, I expected more hits from them. The singer/ guitar player is a natural. I have this CD (yes, I still listen to CDs), time to pull it out and give it a listen, it has been a while.
You know when lexi gives it a nose wrinkle that its great… Only siblings can harmonize like that…Another great hispanic-roots band, Santana, Malo, War, to name a few…
This song came out years ago around the time my wife died. It used to tear me up. I got through it now without tears. I don't know how far Heaven is but however far it is, is how far my wife is from me. Such a sweet opening guitar riff.
I saw Willie Nelson in concert in San Angelo Texas and the Los Lonely Boys and their father came out and played three songs with Willie ( Heaven, Pancho and Lefty and Luckenbach ) if memory serves right it was March 2009. San Angelo is their hometown.
One of the most underrated guitarist. In my humble opinion he is one of the MOST talented guitarist I've heard. His personal style and talent is really unlimited. Thank you and May the Grace of God be with you .😊 ❤
This is Texican blues rock. 😉 This whole album is just so tasty. Excellent song writing, harmonies and guitar playing. I've loved it since the release.
I haven’t heard this song in like 15 years and I just heard it on the radio and it just hit so much nostalgia. It’s crazy how we can remember songs that we haven’t heard in ages
I was so very fortunate to have seen Los Lonely Boys open for Keb Mo at Atlanta's Chastain Park. They put on a show that ranks in my top 10 greatest live bands... and I have seen MANY in my 62 years. The album that "Heaven" came from is superb, cover to cover. Their Tex-Mex style has never been duplicated. The 3 brothers are out of San Angelo, TX, and they sing in both Spanish and English. Though I don't speak Spanish at all, it doesn't matter. Great music is great music, including opera, mostly sung in Italian. (Keb Mo is another singer / songwriter you guys should check out.)
Ooooh, hidden gem. 3 bros. The eldest wrote this after his baby boy passed, so sad. 🥺 But the song is very uplifting and it makes you want to dance and sing along. ❤👍🏽
I've been waiting for such a LONG time to heat a reactor to react to this group and this song! I've loved them since the early 2000's! My son actually got me listening to them! I went out immediately and bought their CD! I still have it and listen to it! I'll definitely be listening to it again tomorrow! Thank you so very much for this beautiful reaction! ❤️😘❤️
One of my favorite songs. It was fun to watch your reactions and how much you enjoyed it. FYI - Los Lonely Boys is not LA culture, but from San Angelo in western Texas. It is a mix of rock and roll and cowboy and Mexican family culture all in one. Rare for rock and roll, this is also a Christian song. I am an older guy and grew up in the 60s and 70s on some of the songs you two are "discovering". The Los Lonely Boys have a bit of the 70s rock and roll style, and is one of the few new bands I listen to and have actually gone to see (twice). Once when they did their classic electronic rock, and once when they did an acoustic tour. The band is made up of three brothers, with the oldest playing lead guitar and vocals, the middle brother playing a six-string base and sometimes lead vocal, and the youngest playing drums and some background vocals. They are very tight and can rock with the best. However, the acoustic tour was even more amazing....pure rock and roll without any electronic enhancement. They also do some songs in Spanish. They are awesome. Thanks for your posts. I have enjoyed them. God bless.
Used to cook for a bar in the hill country owned by Willie Nelson's stage manager and their dad used to come to drink there. Funny ass dude, he'd come in the back and tip me 20 bucks every night just to make him a ham and cheese sandwich. Never seen a man as proud of he was of his boys. Sound is probably a mix between reggae and country givin where they are from and where they recorded that album.
Even though Im no fan of this song I love how musically diverse your channel is. You seem genuine in your interest in all this great music. Keep it up y'all!
Two ways to describe this band. The Hispanic Doobie Brothers or you're on vacation and you drop in an obscure dive bar and these guys are the house band, so you stay till last call.
Saw these boys play this amazing song at one of the old The Bridge School Benefit concerts using just their acoustic guitars. It was as good as you can imagine.
A friend of mine and I used to go out on the road with Willie Nelson and help sell merchandise (long story) when we had off from our corporate jobs. One summer we were in California, in Los Gatos, doing shows at a winery and the boys were opening for Willie. We were in a motel and the boys were in the room above us, wrestling. Willie's security guy, LG, kinda scary ex Hell's Angel but a nice guy, was in the room next door, came to our room and asked us why we were making so much noise. We told him it was the boys wrestling. He went upstairs. It got real quiet after that🤣. That was a fun trip.
I remember when this song first hit the airwaves ... it was like ....WHO IS THIS!!! I wish I had been there listening to this group from their beginning.
Guitar&B,love that it fits a little bit.I remember when this first came out I loved it right away.Too be honest this is a song that stands on its own merits and is so different that it really doesn't have a genre.
Speaking of Mexican Americans/Native Americans (yall just reacted to one of Redbone's songs), Los Lonely Boys is another great Mexican American (mestizos: Spanish/Native American mix) band, from the 2000s. From west Texas (San Angelo). This is like Tex Mex rock/Tejano rock, bluesy rock, kind of tropical/reggae influenced. Check out their other songs like "Diamonds", "More than Love" Lex is think the Cholo style of the band, lol. Cool.
I LOVE you for explaining all this but as Mexican American/Texan/Nahuatl indigenous please please don’t call us Spanish❤️❤️ I really hope I didn’t sound rude it’s just kinda messed up topic, I apologize again if I sounded rude❤️❤️❤️
Finally a reaction to Los Lonley’s. Now go down that rabbit whole and see what they have to offer. I’ve always looked at them as SRV and Santana had a lovechild. Oh and they are amazing live!
This is my first time hearing this song and its Niiice and Chill love the guitar work. You get home from a hard days work pop open a beer you put this song on sit back and enjoy your beer and unwind. Thanks again for another wonderful pick and reaction thanks for the suggestions everyone..

One of the band members said "how far is Heaven is about being on the road and longing to be back home with our families".
