Totally agree with Lex here... this is my favorite love song, because... well, it sounds great, but the lyrics are so pure, zero cheese, and "grown up". This sounds like a grown-up person who really loves his partner. And the story-- getting dressed, enjoying a party, her getting him safely into bed... it's adult, relatable and beautiful.

In my point of view, Katie Kissoon's wonderful solo represents the never written 4th verse of the song. It represents what happens after the lights are turned off; it represents 'the lady's' point of view, and it represents that she, too, is feeling 'wonderful tonight'; even climatic. Perfect ending to a perfect night. Perfect song, too.

Layla is another inspired by her by Eric Clapton. Extract from Wikipedia
] In addition to "Layla", she was the inspiration for Clapton's love songs "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Wonderful Tonight".[130] He also wrote "Golden Ring" for Boyd, in response to her sadness at learning of Harrison's marriage to Olivia Arias in 1978,[131] and the 1983 track "The Shape You're In", which addressed Boyd's drinking.[132]
      Second extract
Boyd inspired Harrison's songs "I Need You", "If I Needed Someone", "Something" and "For You Blue",

I love this channel. When I first found it I was amazed that people hadn’t heard the music I grew up listening to and knowing about, but then it made me realise how much music there is out there that other people grew up with that I didn’t know about. My Spotify list of likes and playlists is getting a lot bigger by the day and I’m beginning to understand, appreciate, and enjoy so many different styles and sounds that make me smile, sing along and dance just like hard rock and punk always did! Keep up the good work Brad and Lex, spreading the love for good music 💙

Patti Boyd was married to both George Harrison and Eric Clapton and she inspired Harrison's songs "I Need You", "If I Needed Someone", "Something" and "For You Blue", and Clapton's songs "Layla", "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Wonderful Tonight". Quite a muse.

I love her immediate reaction to high level guitar tones. She easily recognizes the pattern of the music. I expect she was exposed to music at a young age, because her ear seems to hear more than most can achieve, starting late in life.

Her vocals were a take off from Pink Floyds "Great gig in the sky". Which came from Aphrodite's Childs "666". (History... it's a great thing).

My "ALL TIME FAVORITE" Eric Clapton song ❤❤❤ Fabulous Love Song and fantastic guitar playing = simple clean chords 👍= This was a great extended live performance, but that gals vocals are not part of the original song = was added for the live performance = I had to work my ass off learning to play this song on guitar 🙄😜

Great guitarist, great songwriter, massive racist. His 1976 rant should be enough, but his 2004 confirmation of his views should seal it. You two would not be welcome in "his" country, which is also my country. We'd welcome you with open arms. He doesn't speak for us, he's a disgrace.
    Good song though.

If you like this performance by Katie Kissoon check out Roger Waters' Leaving Beirut where she gets to show off for a bit longer (after all the song is over 12 minutes long) though Brad's political sensitivities might be hurt by the song content ;)

Eric Clapton & Roger Waters often shared touring personnel & session musicians, and Eric Clapton plays guitar parts for Roger Waters' Pros & Cons Of Hitchhiking album.

    Her vocals....
You should look at Al Jarreau.
I remember grooving on the saxophone one time and then the camera turned to Al. He WAS the sax I was grooving on.
Al moved to Europe fairly early so his presence in American music was limited but singing and vocalizing Jazz was his thing.

Lex loves a good vibe, Brad loves some good lyrics. I think Brad would be intrigued to listen to "Tom Waits - What's he building in there?", it's like nothing else you've reacted to. In fact, it's like nothing else you've ever heard.

Eric "Slow Hand" Clapton from the Cream. He's aging and he's not in great health these days. Enjoy him while you can. A lot of good music and a lot of influence to youngsters. My fav album is JourneyMan and the song "Pretending"

Listen to the song "layla" by Derick and the Domino's: This song and the one you are listening to are about George Harrison's Wive. They were having an affair. Clapton and Harrison were friends. Harrison used to cal Clapton and ask "how is the bird". Women in the UL were called "Birds" in England.

This is a wonderful but very naughty song. she was the wife of his good friend George Harrison, yes The Beetles dude. Clapton then stole The Wonderful "Lady" and married her.. for a while. :) Maybe she had a thing for guitarists. In fairness they all seem to be really nice people so I'm not judging at all, life is always complicated.

I love Clapton but kind of hate this song.... Reminds me of the old Tom Paul Glaser song titled ....Put Another Log on the Fire......the first verse lyrics are.....put another log on the fire...cook me up some bacon and beans...and go out to the car and change the tire....wash my socks and sew up my old blue jeans.....come on baby...you can fill my pipe...and then go fetch my slippers and boil me up another pot of tea...then put another log on the fire babe...and come sit down and tell me why you are leaving me!!!!!
