what if whenever she sings to her "Mother" she heals her hair? I know, I know! We are talking about real life but could it be the reason why she isn't bald in the movie?
i know I'm late but wouldn't her hair growing over the 18 years, wouldn't her head have gotten used to the weight of her hair. It would have grown slow enough that her head would have slowly gotten used to the weight of her hair. It's similar to when you lift weights at a gym. Your muscles slowly get used to the weight and soon that amount of weight wouldn't be that big of a deal.
@@bluhu.e I did, I said that the neck and spine are not like muscles they cannot get use to weights like muscles can. But im sorry if i sounded rude and shouldn't have said it was a terrible point because it was actually a good idea of yours, so sorry about that.
@@elyc4894 I never saw your comment about the muscles in the head or neck. If I had I never would have said anything to you other then how you have a great point. Thank you for the clarification.
Alright, but she sings her healing song on a regular basis, so while the magic goes through her hair to wherever someone is touching it, couldn't her hair also be repairingitself, since the healing magic has to go through there each and every time? Maybe that's also the reason why her hair looks and smells good, because the magic is getting rid of all of the dirt and repairs any damaged hairs?
That's what I thought, too. I just wonder why it isn't able to repair itself, once it's been cut? (Although I've seen a trailer for a rapunzel show or something of the sorts, and in that, her full head of hair grew back, all at once) - I wonder if that's because the hair healed itself, thus growing back?
I've always thaught how tangled her hair would be from pulling a person up Also that braid those three little girls did was unrealistically short for her hair to be 75 feet im pretty sure her hair would still be draging on the ground a decent amount even braided
Traction alopecia, yes she would lose all of her hair but you got to remember she has magical healing hair so it probably heals itself as it damages itself
Well i guess that makes sence but if you think about it, her hair is only ever using its magical abilities when shes singing so she'll have to be singing 24/7 for her scalp not to fall off. Thus meaning she's carrying 70 pounds or hair whenever she walks around. (Unless she singing)
THEORY!!!!! Okay so.. surely if you had healing abilities, THROUGH HER HAIR. Then is should mean that whenever she heals anyone or makes mother gothel younger it would repair her hair as well. Edit: I am aware that someone has done this comment before me, I didn’t check the comments to see if someone had put it before. Me and that person just think alike it doesn’t mean that one person copied another and it’s not me trying to be malicious or something like that. I simply had the same idea and put it in a comment.
This is why it's a cartoon. It's supposed to suspend your disbelief and keep you immersed. To do that, it creates something that can fill all plot holes, and in this case, Rapunzel's hair does that.
True, but think of how many times a day, a week, etc. Mother Gothel used her hair to heal before the start of the plot. It would also be healing Rapunzel all those times.
Ben Kennedy I’m pretty sure they tried at one time but it’s a little expensive to change every single solitary sign in an entire country that has any sort of measurement on it as well as every single manufactured object that also has measurements
This is the first I've ever heard of this Lele person so I'm afraid I don't really know the whole story and I can't be bothered to look it up. However, hair only grows for about 3-7 years so from what I've seen in this video (which is admittedly very limited) it is entirely possible that she had never cut her hair and it would only be that length.
I just want to say that in my class a few years ago we talked about medieval times. A bonus question on our quiz was to name a character/story set in medieval times. Afterwards we talked about our answers and my friends did not know that Rapunzel was an old tale. They actually thought that Disney created Rapunzel.
Nick Kunst i hate when people think disney made rapunzel, or the little mermaid, or snow white etc. like dude learn your facts the brothers grimm weren't creative for nothing jesus
But wait... If her hair is killing itself and she has to use the magic in her hair every day to make Mother Gothel young again Wouldn't it repair her Head and it would be all fine again
2:29 "Now obviously I'm not touching the magic of her healing hair." "No, I care about the real world. What a real person having a real head of hair like this would mean."
thats a realy good thing to be honest i kinda thought that too but i am sure mat at was on about it when the hair didn't have healing powers in the real world
Tangled was (and still is) my favorite movie of all time. My dad calls me "his Rapunzel" and when i was 5 i told my mom i wanted to grow my hair to be 75 feet long. And if Disney ever taught me anything, its that my main weapon will always be a frying pan.
wouldn't her magic hair just heal her scalp every time she sings the song, she sings it like once a day unless her mom goes on a 3 day trip for paint so i mean her scalp should be just fine. (i bet she sings that song when she misses her mom, so she would probably sing it more often then when her mom tells her to) boom film theory debunked you gotta do better than this bro you did good i learnd lots from this video but at least think about the fact that her hair is magic its not just science here.
Her scalp is always touching her hair every time she sings the song it works on her head and if she wanted to fix a cut o her hand or arm she could she just has to sing the song
@@bluelilac17 Even if not on herself, remember that the hair can heal someone a few moments after they died (Eugene). So I'm guessing since she potentially did it everyday, her hair would always be healthy and strong.
Xcaliber The Wise yeah, everytime she used it, it probably healed the hair from the damage. So i think as long as she uses her healing hair a couple times a year or every month or so, she'd be fine
Whenever rapunzel throws her hair, she holds onto the part closer to her head as well as the part she is using to do something. So it probably wouldn't break off of her actual head
I feel like mat forgot the fact her hair hasn't been 56 pounds her whole life. When we see Rapunzel on her journey her hair has grown out to the hefty 70 feet at THAT point. When she was a small girl her hair was a lot shorter (still very long but regardless). My question is, would it be possible for Rapunzel's scalp to build up a tolerance to the weight of her hair over the years because of its steady growth?
I have no arguments on this. I’ve have so many questions about her hair myself. Like how she isn’t even worried about split ends. Though it is magic hair that can heal you, so maybe that isn’t a thing. Who knows. But it still doesn’t explain how she can even brush it in the first place. 👍
But in the movie when someone climbs up her hair she is holding her hair and her scalp is under no stress at all. Also her hair didn’t all grow overnight, so wouldn’t she be fine because she would get used to it over a long period of time. A baby cant drag around a 1 pound weight but I’m sure that that baby will gain a-lot more than 1 pound of weight over the course of its life. If you gradually put stress on something it will last way longer than if you put all the stress on it at once.
i agree with you on the scalp being under no stress! my hairs really long so i just hold it in my hand when i brush the bottoms and because im holding it no matter how hard i brush it doesnt hurt at all
ManiacMiner//MMM,I was about to comment that and, your really smart for coming up with it,It takes Alot of thinking,So yu awesome just like the others reading this
You didn't even need to check whether her neck would break or her hair would be pulled out of her head because in the movie she's always supporting the weight with the strength of her arms, not her head itself. She holds the hair, leaving her head under no stress.
She is pulling her hair near the top when there is stress farther down so she doesn't feel it in her scalp. It's what people with long hair do to brush it when it is tangled. No pun intended
"Your hair, cut it!" Me: No! Not yet. But I'd like to see some theory for Brave. I don't know what about. but I'd like to see more Disney movie theories. And btw, hair growth is different for every one.
Althea Sirius yeah, when I cut my hair, it was above my chin. then 1 week later on the first day of school, it was a 0.5cm UNDER my chin. But my mom cut her hair in October, and it's august now, and it hasn't grown a lot. Also, it's my birthday today!
Why is everyone saying “you forgot about her healing magic” He said specifically he wasn’t going to be getting into the magic of it, the theory is if this hair was on a non magic person
Because he LITERALLY USED THE MAGIC to explain how it grew so quick. He did not ignore it, he actually used the hair magic in the episode, so we can say “you forgot about her healing magic”
@@wunderpupjo4223 well technically, he did explain how long her hair actually should've been, and that with how long her hair is, it would've been impossible for her hair to naturally grow that long so there is no other way to explain her hair actually getting that long. At least in a natural way.
@@kyleighslockish2340 true but even so it is disproven if the hair is magical is all I'm sayimg. He does take it into account so it is a valid variable. I do understand your point though.
@@wunderpupjo4223 I know, I just wanted to point it out. I think of it more as him getting passed the fact that it abnormally long for amount of time its been growing if that makes sense.
But...if her hair grew over time and didn't immediately have its current weight, wouldn't her body and follicle strength increase as she grew up? That would allow her to be as mobile as she is in the movie and not lose her hair, right?
Bent Studios Yes, her neck strength would be through the roof but her follicle strength is not increasing. Follicles are not muscles; they are like rubber bands and you can stretch it all you want but it won't increase the tension it can withstand. Buuuuuut, I suppose the magic would heal the areas the hair has fallen out.
Literally he says he's not touching the magic portion, just whether or not a normal human could survive having hair like Rapunzel. Before he even gets into the actual theory he says he's not talking about the healing aspect.
Devin Becker I was definitely thinking that too. At least while she's in the tower. She would totally have to carry all 60 lbs once she's out running from raiders and stuff.
Devin Becker that's true! What I was thinking was, after all those years (and what you said) wouldn't she get used to it and not even notice it's getting heavier? And different hair have different strength and some are really light to carry. Even if it's regular blond hair. There's different types of hair, which means, different outcomes. If it's easy to wash, or if it's lighter than usual hair, if it's strong hair, or even if it's heavier. It can change the theory. Especially if it's strong hair, after all, the hair get stronger after it plucks. It gets thicker, which can help and make a problem. 1)it makes it heavier 2) it's harder to pluck it out (Also at the end of the movie, would it do something to her when she cut her hair completely? Like effect how she lives, or sense how long she had long hair would the hair get stronger? I don't know if this is correct though. Mattpat I really hope you see this, just for a thought I guess)
Effeffia Gonalick No. Something that bothers me is: Why does the hair stop growing when it's cut? Shortening hair doesn't change it's properties. Rather, if the root was removed, then that would make sense.
For all you guys that have been saying"Oh she has magic hair" He was talking about if the hair would work on a real human And I think you know that real humans don't have magic hair
Matpat have you considered the fact that there is a WATERFALL right next to the tower? I mean she has 70 foot long hair and the waterfall does not look very far away
Matpat: I'm going to ignore the magical properties of the hair... Also matpat: a normal person of 21 could only grow hair 9 feet long but proceeded to calculate for 70 feet of hair that growth is accelerated by is magic properties... Also also matpat: proceeds to statistically ignore the fact that the hair and thus her scalp would be healed every time she sang. As a side note- even though her hair all together weighed 60ish pounds wouldn't a single strand weigh less then the required amount to pull it from the scalp?
Doesn't the movie explicitly said that her hair won't grow back? I won't argue that her scalp would be healed but she can't heal or grow back her hair. It doesn't show to be possible at least
@@Flurquoise Is the theory about those animated series? No? It's about the movie and the abilities shown WITHIN the movies lore? Because that's what we assume, everything within the movie's plot and we it showcase. Why something outside the movie would matter if the purpose of theory is analysing things the movie shows you? The example you gave would've made more sense if the original book that predates the movie tells it differently.
@@MariogamingMario he did say that. I agree. The problem is the healing properties can't magic away her hair, that's my point. Because in the movie (meaning movie canon) when someone cut her hair, it won't grow back.
Did you ever think that the since her hair is magic, that when she sings the hair heals itself? I mean its glowing healing hair! Maybe when she sings, the hair glows and heals itself. It starts killing itself, but then when she sings it heals itself. That's my theory based on his theory.
Cassidy Chatten The point was if you don't consider the magical properties how her hair would work in real life. Cause as soon as you throw magic in ANYWHERE anything is pretty much possible. Then wheres the fun in theories?
Well, for all we know Magic could just be really advanced science that is too advanced for primitive apes as ourselves to understand. But what do I know?
The only flaw with this theory is that in times when water was considered dangerous, people believed that using water to wash would bring them disease so, they would brush their hair with a finely toothed comb to clean it. This method is proven to work (i wont get into how)but it does (look it up) so technically, Rapunzel's hair would be clean.
You forgot the most important factor: MAGIC!!! :D So her scalp probably repaired itself every time she sang that song and it also cleaned itself or something like that - plus, when she was thrown into that river her hair took a few hours to dry, not a few days... I guess that's what the magic of the sun does to hair (I'm actually jealous right now xD)
Caitlin Ling Oh come on, let me have my 'But it's magic' moment xD There are so few occasions when I can say it ☺ Never miss out on a chance like this: ☆"IT'S MAGIC!!!"☆😃

@@jubileeYAVEL It's not a matter of "why not healing". It's an established fact that her hair has magical healing powers.
That's interesting...
Thank you to the brave woman who grew their hair like this for us so we could know this information
i know I'm late but wouldn't her hair growing over the 18 years, wouldn't her head have gotten used to the weight of her hair. It would have grown slow enough that her head would have slowly gotten used to the weight of her hair. It's similar to when you lift weights at a gym. Your muscles slowly get used to the weight and soon that amount of weight wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Good point

Yeah
Alright, but she sings her healing song on a regular basis, so while the magic goes through her hair to wherever someone is touching it, couldn't her hair also be repairingitself, since the healing magic has to go through there each and every time? Maybe that's also the reason why her hair looks and smells good, because the magic is getting rid of all of the dirt and repairs any damaged hairs?
That actually makes sense, if the healing magic is just kind of healing everything it passes through, like a eugenes hand stuck in the hair etc.
Might be... I've seen the trailer, too. If that's the reason why, then that show may have just confirmed our theory :D
he literally says that this video is about those kinda things actually being possible in our real world without the magic
At the beginning he said what hair could do without magic.

Traction alopecia, yes she would lose all of her hair but you got to remember she has magical healing hair so it probably heals itself as it damages itself
I guess her hair’s magic keeps it clean and nullifies the weight. Since when it stops being magic, she cuts it.
FIRST
No, the magic disappeared after Flynn cut her hair. That's what happened. She never cut her hair herself.
Well i guess that makes sence but if you think about it, her hair is only ever using its magical abilities when shes singing so she'll have to be singing 24/7 for her scalp not to fall off. Thus meaning she's carrying 70 pounds or hair whenever she walks around. (Unless she singing)
No she cuts it THEN it looses it's power

This theory gets more complicated when you realize if she didn't have the magic flower shes a typical brown
wouldn't her magic hair just heal her scalp every time she sings the song, she sings it like once a day unless her mom goes on a 3 day trip for paint so i mean her scalp should be just fine. (i bet she sings that song when she misses her mom, so she would probably sing it more often then when her mom tells her to) boom film theory debunked you gotta do better than this bro you did good i learnd lots from this video but at least think about the fact that her hair is magic its not just science here.
At 2:30, he specifically states that he WON'T be touching the healing properties of the hair.
Give me a single time in the movie (I didn’t watch the show yet) we saw Tangled use it on herself, let alone her scalp specifically.
She doesn't pull by her scalp. She pull by holding her hair in hands at at least 1and half meters
I think the magic healing powers fix all the issues
Xcaliber The Wise yeah, everytime she used it, it probably healed the hair from the damage. So i think as long as she uses her healing hair a couple times a year or every month or so, she'd be fine
she did remember that her healing hair is always active and that mother gothel uses it about once a week to stay young
Xcaliber The Wise To true
Yeah
Xcaliber the wise same
Whenever rapunzel throws her hair, she holds onto the part closer to her head as well as the part she is using to do something.

Woudlntit be worst for a baby?By damaging irreversibly her hairs as a kid already?

Because he himself forgot about saying that, and keep saying “she would...” as opposed to “someone without magic hair would...”

@@wunderpupjo4223 well technically, he did explain how long her hair actually should've been, and that with how long her hair is, it would've been impossible for her hair to naturally grow that long so there is no other way to explain her hair actually getting that long. At least in a natural way.

Bent Studios also MAGIC HAIR Xd
Bent Studios yeah and she's constantly healing herself when she sings the song too right? So any damage would be repaired on her scalp
Perfectly Peachy yea, lol, I didn't even think about her healing magic
Bent Studios Yes, her neck strength would be through the roof but her follicle strength is not increasing. Follicles are not muscles; they are like rubber bands and you can stretch it all you want but it won't increase the tension it can withstand. Buuuuuut, I suppose the magic would heal the areas the hair has fallen out.
Literally he says he's not touching the magic portion, just whether or not a normal human could survive having hair like Rapunzel. Before he even gets into the actual theory he says he's not talking about the healing aspect.
as a cosmetologist, this episode brought me so much serotonin hearing all the science behind your conclusions
One thing you forgot is that because it is so long the weight would be spread out through it causing less stress on her scalp.
1)it makes it heavier
2) it's harder to pluck it out
(Also at the end of the movie, would it do something to her when she cut her hair completely? Like effect how she lives, or sense how long she had long hair would the hair get stronger? I don't know if this is correct though. Mattpat I really hope you see this, just for a thought I guess)
But every time she sings (every day) her head and hair would be healed

Is the theory about those animated series?
Matpat said the healing properties at 2:30 not growing
That might be part of the reason she has to do it so often. Not just to heal bitch whats-her-face.
Well, for all we know Magic could just be really advanced science that is too advanced for primitive apes as ourselves to understand. But what do I know?
Cassidy Chatten that's what I was thinking
Cassidy Chatten 200th like!!
So her scalp probably repaired itself every time she sang that song and it also cleaned itself or something like that - plus, when she was thrown into that river her hair took a few hours to dry, not a few days... I guess that's what the magic of the sun does to hair (I'm actually jealous right now xD)

☆"IT'S MAGIC!!!"☆😃
Bookworm73 u are right but he did say that it was if it was in REAL LIFE not in the movie 😏😑
The fangirl why won't anybody let me have my 'IT'S ☆MAGIC☆!'-moment? XD come on, I couldn't miss out on an opportunity like this :D 😃☆
*hears hair can be pulled out from stress*
me: *takes hair out of tight ponytail*
Michael in a bathroom I too am a fan of Be More Chill.
Because of your name not the comment.
Why are you in bath room but my hair save 1 life to nice person
Ppl talking about how she could heal her scalp, I'll remind you that he literally said "I'm not touching on the magic of her healing hair."
this was the comment i was searching for
Also the hair loses its magic when cut.
A lot of comments about hair healing scalp say upfront about that
yeah he's talking realistically but in the movie it works
Hey Did you know on Disney+ they have series and a short clip of Rapunzel at the end of the movie tangled her haircut cut well in the new movie not only grows back but it is indestructible
Can you do a theory about if balloons could really lift up the house in up? I saw another comment saying the same thing but it was lost in the sea of comments so I thought it would help. OH OH or a theory about if the collars on the dogs could be real? That would be cool too
You're helping it move *up* =D =D =D
I'll see myself to the door.
SquishyCat LPS I think there is something out there that you would need millions of balloons. Also jenna marbles lifted her dog by balloons and her dog is 7 lbs and it took somewhere between 50-100 ( it’s been awhile since I watched that video) balloons to lift him and a house weighs a lot more than 7 lbs.
Some people have used about 300 giant balloons to loft a small house, inspired by the movie up
I saw that 200+ weather balloons could actualy lift a house but a house with furnitures...eh...please confirm it
SquishyCat LPS o
Someone tell Jojo siwa about traction allopeccia
Edit: oh no it’s too late🤨
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING
Olive Holm ?
IceCream PuppyGirlPlays Are you talking about the edit or what means by JoJo siwa
I wish it happened to her....
Candy사탕 사탕 I know I know I used to be subscribed to her
NO! MATPAT! You forgot that her hair has healing factors, which would likely counter for your impossibility.
SteelBasilisk oh its self healing!
oh right it's also fucking magical
Hair doesn't HEAL!
Charmey Charm, if it can reverse age as "healing", and showing what it does to Mother Gothel's *already grown* hair, it absolutely can in Rapunzel's case.
I SWEAR TO GOD. HE SAID HE WOULD TALK ABOUT THE FACT IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE IN REAL LIFE.
I just watched this again those other day and I pointed out how she was running with all that hair.
