Thanks for the message. It was a very close call. We call it our ‘Evergreen Moment’ like the ship that blocked the Suez Canal. 2 other yachts that went through at a similar time had accidents so it doesn’t always go well in the canal….
That was pretty captivating. The folks onboard to help seem dedicated and I'm sure you made them comfy. The young lady seemed to be having a good time. The other boats with you, however, apparently weren't getting the best advice?! Glad you escaped those troubles. Look forward to Day 2.
Hi Frank. I hope everyone had a great time. It was quite an experience and something I have always wanted to do. It was a close call for us in the lock and thankfully we just missed the wall. We do have boat buddies that were not so lucky in the canal so it doesn't always go to plan.
8:23 This is actually a good teaching moment... though I realize that you were otherwise engaged at the moment. The water rushing between you and the tug created a Bernulli effect where the pressure between the vessels is lower due to the speed of water, so the water from the outer sides of the vessels pushes them together. To be quite honest, this is the first time I observe this effect in real life.
I’ve watched videos of several cruisers transiting the Panama Canal - your’s is the best and most informative.
That is a great comment. Thank you.
Great video guys , educational as well , pleased you made it to Gatun lake safely

Thanks for the lesson. The first lock was a scary experience and I wasn't too keen to carry on after that.
