Cruise Ship Dining Room Food - Dinner by Royal Caribbean (4K)

- See what type of food to expect on a 7 day cruise, in this case on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in the main dining room for dinner. Sample menus are included, including the kid's menu. The sit-down dining room dinners usually see the cruise lines deliver their best offerings, so be sure to eat there as often as possible (vs the buffet, room service, snacks, etc). The formal nights are the best since that's when you get lobster & some of the best cuts of steak.
In this video first we show you what common offerings you can order nightly, and then select dishes (appetizers, main entrees, & desserts) unique to each night. We also taste and review some of the food as well.

During the 4th night the excellent wait staff even got together and danced for the guests in the dining room!
These were from our 2019 Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas sailing out of Galveston, Texas.

2014-2015 I worked on Liberty of the seas as a waiter. I love to see that video with images from the main dining room the place where I used to work.

I believe there are 3 ships participating, via satellite. The Royal Princess, Regal Princess and I am not sure of the other ship!

Again, a great video. We ate all dinners in the MDR and many of the menu selections were identical in May 2022 to your cruise in Feb 2019. in general, the service was solid and usually attentive. However, I found the food to be really hit and miss. Our creme brulee was also watery. The waldorf salad was made with bitter arugula paired the sourest apple I have ever eaten. The risotto was almost crunchy as the rice was not done. The Bananas Foster was serves with raw bananas covered with caramel sauce. The cherries jubilee even had the maraschino cherries along with the sour ones. Honestly, we thought that the menu was far less creative than our last Carnival cruise and there were so many technical issues with dishes.
Appreciate that! Yeah from our recent Odyssey of the Seas cruise we noticed the menus were still pretty similar as well. Too bad some of the dishes were off on your cruise. Thanks for the heads up on some of the things you noticed- hopefully Royal will take note.
Our menu on ovation of the seas a couple weeks ago was also very similar to this. The food was usually good but a couple of items weren’t great. Overall we enjoyed our meals in the MDR
@@RRLV434 As a former kitchen manager, these cruise lines probably have the same menu throughout the year. When you produce the same menu with the same crew month after month, you are very consistent. However, there has been a lot of turmoil over the past couple of years and I would wager that a lot of the inconsistencies come from the turnover of the staff. The few problems that I encountered were more attributable to performance than the design of the menu.
You might have liked the mint jelly with the lamb. In the south, we would almost always eaten it that way and horseradish and au just. On prime rib. Just a suggestion. Liked your evaluations for the most part. Good job.

I love seeing these! I have food allergies so it is interesting to see what is offered. I did think is was strange that after day three the next few days had no allergen’s noted on the menu, and some of the items had to have wheat.

Such in-depth reviews of the food from the Buffet, Breakfast, Lunch and Tea to the fine dining each night really convinced me to take a trip on Royal Caribbean. Can you eat in the dining room, instead of the Buffet, at Breakfast and Lunch or is it only for dinner?
You are very welcome- thank you for your comment! 😊 You can certainly eat at the dining room for breakfast- we actually prefer that since it is less hectic than the buffet. It does close earlier than the buffet for breakfast, however. Lunch is really good at the main dining room, though they only have it for sea days.

You bet! Royal Caribbean didn't really have afternoon tea if I remember correctly. They had afternoon snacks. If they did have it it would be scones self-served at the buffet. Princess & Holland America had serviced afternoon tea in the main dining room on sea days.

I was wondering if these dishes included in the cruise fare (like are they free)? or you have to pay extra... and is it just for dinner? what about lunch and breakfast?
They're all included with the cruise fare 🌝
This is dinner in the main dining room, which is included with your fare. You can order as much as you want. Also, if nice to your waiter, you can ask for things not on the menu (like Indian food) and they will bring to you if they have it.. breakfast is served at the MDR, but lunch May be only on sea days and limited menu. Dinner menu is posted at lunch time, so you can decide if you want to eat at the MDR or go to the buffet.

Cruise ships always have something for people with all tastes. You can never go hungry on a cruise ship. Even the pickiest eaters at home, go on a cruise vacation and come home with weight gains of at least 10 pounds.

Most nights, my wife and I would order four appetizers, two ot three main dishes and three desserts as we like to try everything over a course of a week.. Honestly, the entree size is usually a minimum of 6 oz of protein with a side of potatoes and vegetables. We generally switch plates throughout the meal so we both can try everything.

Just looking at the meals, for me I'll need 2 of every items for dinner as they seem tiny in the portions.
The nice thing is that you can order multiple apps/mains/desserts and they'd be happy to oblige, no extra charge.
@@TravelTouristVideos Though I've never really traveled on the seas except for a time when I took a ferry in Jamaica, the thought of being on a cruise ship seems 100x more dangerous than anything. Imho they advertise it as a beautiful BIG ship but in reality you will be traveling with 3000 paying passengers (strangers) and 2000 crew and all the amenities will be crowded and have a long line,.
Added with the fact that I dont relish the thought of being hundreds of miles away from land, maybe the cruise experience is just not for me.
It's understandable- I mean the media really sensationalizes everything that happens on a cruise ship. We've been on nearly 35 cruises now- never had a major issue on any of them, and enjoyed each one. If you ever try one you might be pleasantly surprised.

Many of the cruise ships do have sushi, but the "free" ones are not very good with the notable exception of Holland America during lunch- their sushi at the buffet were good for free ones. Royal Caribbean has a sushi restaurant called Izumi, though on some ships they call it "Izumi Express" where you can buy a box of sushi for pretty reasonable prices ($8).

We’ve never eaten in the main dining room, we’d rather eat at the specialty restaurant and do the dining room for breakfast or room service
I personally wouldn’t eat in the MDR. The food looks delicious, yes, but I want to be comfortable what I wear (not having to dress up) and not have to wait for my food. I’ll stick with the buffet.

Going on a cruise is actually not too expensive at all considering food, entertainment and transportation (between ports) are include. For instance sometimes you can find cruise fares for $450 or even cheaper for 7 days per person, excluding tax and your transportation costs to Port of departure.
