    This isnt just sliding. Almost every action in this game feels sluggish. ADSing (both normally and while jumping), strafing, and even the slight delay there is after pressing the slide button. Everything feels sluggish

      Mantling and popping out of water animation takes so long. Almost no reason to even use those features.

      @@YTCBlackStar look up shottzy water movement. That’s what I do to cancel the animation when coming out of the water. You can fire your gun coming out of the water. It’s like that lebron commercial when he jumps straight out the pool

    There's something that blocks your momentum when doing pretty much everything, like if you jump of a building in mp your character kinda stops mid air

      In wz2 aswell. Jump off a building cause you wanna run or get to another building, go light speed at that edge, jump, blackholed.

    I remember coming back to MW2019 after a break to play Apex for a while, and the difference in sliding between the two games was like a punch in the nose. Sliding in apex is so fluid and you maintain momentum and can go so far with it, and the going back to MW it felt like the slide only went 2 feet and hard stopped your momentum

    sliding is most useful, imo, when you know you're gonna meet someone at a corner. Jumping around the corner will likely just make you bump into eachother, diving will keep your gun down too long, but a well timed slide perfectly throws them off when they jump around.

    Without the ability to cancel your slide, it will always feel worse that MW19 because you feel like you're locked into an animation. I would like to see Vanguard's slide cancel return, where it doesn't reset your tac sprint every time. That way it's less of a crutch and less hard on hands / controllers because ppl aren't constantly spamming it.

      @@Johnwick-jo8uo slide cancel exploit removal absolutely, but the actual act of canceling a slide midway has been in every cod game with slide beforehand. i feel they should’ve actually kept the vanguard method with more restrictive tacsprint recharge. vanguard had it so you would wait a second then tac sprint again, but if they made it so you had to wait at least 2-3 seconds i feel it would make for a much better movement system

      Once again the cycle of CoD devs discovering the best way to handle a problem/mechanic and then the next devs ignoring that solution completely continues.

    Getting a good slide to a corner can definitely catch someone off guard especially with the jump shot around the corner meta in MWII.

      The jump shot around the corner is abused so bad on shipment, that I now only slide around corners and if I watch a corner, my sights up at head height so I can get a torso shot when someone inevitably jumps around the corner.
      Dolphin diving just gets you shot in the face 😂

      @@leonydus9889 they do not care about balance you can still jump peak to camera, but it’s just annoying because you expose yourself too much if there are more people. Slide was not as much full comit. It’s only this way to give free kills not balance the actual fight. Mainly a wz pov multiplayer not so bad.

    In terms of utilities, sliding is the movement to counter enemies who prioritize headshots in close quarter combats. You will likely mess up their aims, as on their POV, it feels like your head hitbox suddenly disappears.
    On the other hand, diving is the evasive movement when enemy is firing at you at distance, as your character stance suddenly switches from vertical to horizontal and constantly changing its altitude simultaneously.

      But with the long animation lock, the shooter will have enough time to readjust and hit the shots again, while the the player who initiated the slide is still staring at the shooter while you know, sliding, neither cant shoot back or run/ change direction. The purpose of "counter" is easily thrown out of the bus just because the target cant do anything in return.

      @@DA--LEThe keyword is CLOSE RANGE combat. I’m talking about an option in some specific situations, not guaranteed, while you’re talking about reaction, time and TTK in general. “Counter” doesn’t necessarily mean dominating. We are not talking on the same channel mah dude.

      Just an absolutely nonsensical take. No one, especially not controller players, actively aim for the head unless you’re doing a camo challenge. People always aim center mass and all sliding does is put your head exactly where they were aiming. I don’t play controller so perhaps sliding does mess with aim assist a little, but against mouse and keyboard players, sliding is about the stupidest thing you can do.

    The only time I've seen sliding used successfully as an offensive move is when someone turns a corner and is at point blank with an enemy. Once in a while I'll see someone pull a slide and go underneath the enemies point of aim and just spray them in the crotch. But with the delay on the actual slide, you pretty much have to predict that this situation is going to happen and start your slide animation before the enemy is even in view. It's all very hit or miss

    All they had to do was take the movement system from MW2019 and remove tac sprint while adjust the regular sprint speed. That's it. No more annoying slide canceling just to move about the map, but there was a skill gap in gun fights.

    I remember the first time I played MW2 and immediately noticed how much clunkier all the movement felt in general, but the sliding was crazy how it restricted you from being able to use it offensively. For me personally being on a ps5 without fancy paddles and not using that insane crab claw grip, sliding was something of an equalizer against mouse and key players who had so many more movent options at there literal fingertips.

    The slide to fire does feel painful in MW2 compared to 2019 and the numbers show it. I didn't even register slide canceling or knew what it was until a vid you did way back in the beta for this. And I used double time as one of my common perks consistently as well, so it never really registered. I've had people dive shot me more than slide shot me. (Though that might be because of how it's less expected as an aggressive move) And I never used it as a huge aggression tool in 2019 (Or any of the games where slides were added) but more as a goof or a more... 'legit' style of drop shot, if that makes sense. Being a fluid animation and evasion rather than jerking through to prone. I used it more to make myself a harder target if I thought a corner or lane was being watched, and maybe give myself a shot at taking someone out if someone was there. But I don't remember using sliding as this big momentum thing. I'd sometimes slide into active gun fights, but usually when flanking at close range and knowing I'd need cover after the first kill. Or with a shotgun... I abused sliding with mega hipfire tightened shotguns, I'll admit.

    This is perfectly in line with IW's game philosophy. They have actively forced slower and slower gameplay and cater to the more casual player more so with every release. I personally enjoy faster paced arcade shooter style, I hope we can start getting back to that going forward, but I have no belief in the devs whatsoever. Every decision they make is frustratingly bad, SOMETIMES (not usually though) they end up half walking it back, which is slightly better, but we still end up worse off than where we were before. Haven't paid for either of the last 2 cod games, and will continue not to until they get their heads out of their asses.

    Slide definitely needs to be brought more in line with MW2019. Just keep cancel out of it, or make it so that cancelling stops movement early but doesn't expedite slide to fire time. Right now the only time I ever find myself using it is for cover to cover, and even then it's a marginal benefit. And yeah, I could see an argument for having (a small) variance between weapon types affecting slide to fire too.

    They really need to add more movement features: "low slide" (think baseball) gives you a long, very low to the ground slide, "hip slide" is shorter, hip fire abled and you're more exposed, "juke" feature which faints one direction and goes the other "breaks" aim assist momentarily - helpful when caught out in the open. "high jump" doubles your height to hit that snipe from behind cover, but has a cooling off period and you can't run for 5 seconds....etc. The biggest issue with such a fast TTK is you really have no counter (especially on controller where you can't instantly flick in a 180). It's a game that rewards heavily the person who sees the enemy first - which is fine, but would be a lot more exciting if we had some counter play versus hoping to ads and out-gun.

    I miss sliding, I Got a low blow this morning. It brought back good vibes and it almost never happends now. In this game I avoid slides all together ,Where it is a go to movement in any other cods I still play. I think they shouild let us shoot while slding and just neft the cancel like they already have.

    Yeah there definitely should be a middle ground. Even as another aggressive player, I hated the slide cancel + bunny hop mechanics in MW19 because it felt like those were significantly more impactful than gun skill, which to me is just frustrating in an FPS. I don't mind some components of it, but both the MW19 and MWII implementations are annoying for opposite reasons.
    Generally though, MWII just has a feeling that I'm fighting against the game and the character rather than fighting my enemies, which is kind of unfortunate.

    Slapping and jumping diving to get kills is a cancer too the community it’s a cheaper and easier ways to get kills faster , an exploit they put in the game.

    I honestly don’t really care if we have fast slide to fire or not, the real issue is the overall sluggish feel to the game. There’s little to no ability to finesse a gunfight, it’s basically whoever shoots first wins, which heavily rewards pre-aiming and punishes movement and aggression.

    I think the sprintout times of the guns should be used and with a larger hipfire cone during the motion of the slide that returns to normal size at the conclusion of the slide. If we were talking RL and I get that this is just a game, but there's nothing preventing me from squeezing a trigger while sliding. I would be highly inaccurate, but it's still doable. At the very least, I stand with some of the other comments on here and say just use the 2019 sliding times but remove the cancelling.

    There are laser attachments (green hip fire laser) that can be tuned for slide to fire speed. Maybe you wanna test them out!

      Unless I'm missing a specific unique attachment, the only tuning I see that impacts sliding is "Sliding Hip Fire Accuracy"

    Super cool and useful investigation and analysis of the sliding between MWII and MW 2019! Independent slide to fire delay is really good to know and interesting to think about. I feel like slide to fire delay was increased in MWII to reduce the latency gap; If all the guns have 520 ms slide to fire, then it's much more difficult for a player with a low ping to have an easy gunfight win against a player with a higher ping. But we still have jumpshotting, which they could also nerf by enforcing a jump-to-fire delay. And if my hypothesis is wrong, then I wonder why MWII has an increased slide to fire delay at all. It can't be realism because like you said, it's unrealistic for an LMG and a pistol to have the same slide to fire delay.

    another massive thing people seem to miss all the time is that there's next to no accuracy penalty for jumping. I have a lot of hipfire builds cuz I'm at the point where building guns to look cool is barely viable due to ads and movement speed penalties being so harsh, and the best tactic is to just jump to throw people off. sliding takes longer, is slower and plumits ur accuracy cuz it doesnt use hipfire accuracy, it uses slide accuracy.

    Love the diverse gameplay in the background, nice footage with the slug Bryson 600, looks like you're actually somewhat having fun playing this game (unlike you did with MW2019), keeping in mind this is Twitch gameplay against viewers (and not your regular engagement-optimized matchmaking lobby).

      I do manage to have fun as long as I don’t grind too hard. I just want to clarify, I don’t play against my viewers, they play on my team. This can often yield a better mix of enemies but the enemies are still randoms

    Something important you miss in this video is that for whatever reason Akimbo Pistols have a very quick slide to fire time. Almost instantly.

    I was very disappointed to not see any comparisons to the slide cancelling mechanic as it was the most important and controversial change. Its pretty clear the devs do not want that topic discussed, but I thought you'd be honest enough in your analysis and comparison to at least show it from both perspectives it and let the viewer make up their own mind. I know its never coming back.

    Sliding should 100% be a tool to be used agressively. Currently you can jump shot, or prone peak, but if they increased strafe speed and slide to fire, then there would be 2 more ways to approach a corner and that would be a great change to the gameplay providing more outplay techniques and game play styles

    I personally wish the strafe and ADS speeds would be faster without attachments combined with no jump shot penalty but a general reduction in jump height (since you jump really high lol).
    I also keep being surprised how MW19 seems to look better than MWII graphically.

    I think they should honestly allow slide cancelling again, but just have it not refresh tactical sprint. I'd love for it to be basically instantaneous firing into a slide/dive + being able to jump out of a slide which you cannot do anymore for no reason.

    I’ve been playing a lot of cod waw recently and it’s weird how slick the movement was on there. From what I’ve felt you freeze, or lose momentum if you jump around a corner for an easy kill. It’s easier to kill that guy around the corner, but you might be a sitting duck to someone watching that area. Make the slide fun to use and a viable option (if not why tf is it there lol) and slow them way down once the slide is complete. IMO

    I feel that sliding could synergize very well with tac-sprinting if the slide-to-fire time was faster, since the slide-to-fire time is the same for regular and tac-sprinting. Unfortunately at 500+ milliseconds even some of the slowest tac-sprint sprint-to-fire times are way faster than the slide regardless of weapon.

    What about the time it takes to shoot compared to dolphin diving? I try to peak corners with dives and slides and if it’s faster slide to fire than dive to fire I’d pick sliding to wrap comers.

    Yeah, I've been wondering why lasers have a "sliding hip accuracy" tuning slider when firing while sliding is basically impossible anyways. Nine times out of ten I will have stopped sliding before my gun lets me fire.

    Ace, could you test the skins hitbox ? Like if bigger skins have bigger hitboxes than female thinner skins... I always had this curiosity...

    Sliding stops your ability to shoot, and the end of the animation is painfully slow, the only way i see fixing it is either A. Allow hipfire while sliding, or B. Cut off the last bit of the animation and transition automatically into a tac sprint
    You can balance it by only making it available when tac sprinting if need be

    People who slide kill me almost every time, it's so frustrating hearing how bad it is and I know from trying it how slow it is. But I always aim upper body/head so when they slide it's right off my screen

    In its current state I don’t really use it as a position to shoot but rather a way to unpredictably move from cover to another piece of cover when in a fight. I think maybe speeding it up a little would increase its utility but I wouldn’t want them to go overboard. Maybe somewhere in between mw2019 and current.

    Given the fact that ADS is limited to a certain time frame when sliding along side worse hip fire accuracy than just walking what they should do is make it so slide to fire speeds are faster than sprint to fire speeds

    Just have the slide to fire time be the same as the chosen weapon's sprint to fire time and call it a day. As long as we can't cancel the slide animation there shouldn't be an issue, let us shoot faster

    I'm surprised you say sliding is useless. Granted, you do have to give yourself more room to account for that fire delay, but I've used it to great effect when doing low blows simply by starting the slide earlier before getting to corners. It's especially useful since most people prefer to go for jump shots so you can throw someone off if they're not expecting you to go low.
    However, the simple fact of the matter is MW19 felt way more smooth in action while this game just feels super clunky... though the movement is way better than beta at least aside from jump shots.

    Problem is they catered this game towards the mainstream masses instead of the cod community, and those didn't even show up so now us have to deal with this mess while they slowly patch it back up to what it was, scared of it being too frenetic like slide-canceling every corner with stims and the fast ground perk was in Resurgence.
    We are faaaaaar too far away from that, yet they still don't reverse back fast enough. One mechanic at a time instead of giving balance to every mechanic in different situations.
    They only know how to create METAs, instead of trade-offs.

    Even of they make it possible to hipfire earlier into the slide, junpshots will still be your best option. No matter what people will whine about any movement mechanic that they lose gunfights to.

    Hey Exculsive, I’m pretty sure akimbo pistols has no slide to fire speed for some reason. I’ve played around with a few builds to try take advantage of this but the hip fire while sliding is horrendous lmao so it’s pointless. I’d love for you to investigate and see if there’s any other inconsistencies with slide to fire. (Unless this has been patched out)

    IMO, they should go back to the mechanics of MW’19, but without the movement boost via sliding. Meaning, keep the slide cancel, but without the movement boost I don’t think you’ll see the annoyance of using the slide tactic as a general map movement technique and highly effective encounter technique.

    I don’t squally comment but I love your vids. As far as utility. It seems as if the sliding in mw2 is a passive ability. I E sliding to defuse / revive / capture obj is actually a more fluent mechanic with the bud than diving us. However diving is a more evasive and aggressive route to take via gunfights and hunts. Much like the drop vs jump shot change across the years

    Literally the only time i even slide in this game is on crown raceway when going from mid map to the side with the big long sightline (dom b flag/ hardpoint p5). It's just to get under those lowered doors. In every other situation the dive is superior imho.

    there is a way to slide and fire but it'll leave you crouch for about a second, when you go for a slide I believe you tap your triangle/y button 3 or 4 times and your gun will be up within the middle of slide animation with a default hipfire penalty to the end then you become crouched. its very in consistent but I've done it multiple times. Also I'm not sure if you tried this either but I call it tailing, when sliding you can basically let you aim assist I guess pull you towards a players within a 90 degree turn radius. For example say you slide around a corner but someone tries to jump beside or almost behind you, as long as your camera is within that general direction of the other player you can kind of reguide your slide BUT I think this deals with FOV just because more of the player will be on your screen. I didn't invent this technique or anything it just became something I noticed when I kept messing with the movement. You can try it but I feel like its super niche and very very situational.

    I'm an Apex player, former cod. In the CW beta, I dominated because the slide mechanic was actually good. You slid down hills smoothly. Alpha comes out, and they completely reworked the slide to where it sucked and got you nowhere. Take a page from Apex, and fix your slides Activision 👌🏾

    You can make slide shoot at 350 but it still takes like 400+ for some guns to ads in this game which make the change moot.

    0:28 DUDE YOUR HIP FIRE BUILDS, I've been using them more since they "buffed" sliding slightly and HIPFIRE BUILDS + SLIDING = FUN! But yeah Hipfire builds i like to slide into a room instead of jumping into it b/c they are usually pre aimed upper chest/ head lvl expecting the jump/bunny hop....also like you mention if you are good at mashing buttons you can do some crazy camera breaks trying to get out of line of sight of people in gun fights by sliding....

    The main problem with sliding in MW2 is how much less control you have over it. Its like you are stuck in the animation and you can’f shoot until its over or run to other direction if the enemy sees you. I really liked the sliding mechanics in MW1 and the slide cancel. It was much more in control but I know for sure how much people betched about it and loved that they changed the sliding in MW2 so these losers can’t complain now. I find bunny hopping and shooting like a moron to be much more annoying and many cheaters use that which makes it hard to aim at all. That is what needs to be deleted from every COD game.

    Slide is a mechanic that was introduced in Ghosts and should've stayed in Ghost. I don't mind the movement being fast or slow or players drop shooting but Its silly AF that sliding magically makes you faster than the tactical sprint. Atleast one thing Ghost did right was making you lose speed while sliding.
    Also the dive is no good imo. They should've just made it like BF3 where you immediately hit the floor instead of dolphin diving which makes going prone from a sprint unnecessary slow.
    P.S There's just something about sliding that screams *SWEATY* *TRYHARD*

    Lol i love that you point these things out, but sliding is the least offensive gameplay aspect to me. There is so much more i hate about gameplay in this franchise over the last 4 years
