    Hi, I stencil things made on my cricut all of the time since I prefer paint over vinyl. I normally use what ugly or old vinyl I have laying around but I just received 25' (eek) of oramask. I've never used it before and had some reservations after reading reviews but you set my mind at ease! I have 2 30x40 signs I'm doing for family so am glad oramask was available (and under .60 a ft as it was on sale) Thanks Lauren! 😊

    Question please . . . So I am using stencil vinyl using the kiss cut that supposedly doesn’t cut all the way thru. It is all I have used in the 3 projects I have done. My question is . . . Is there any way to have the border box cut all the way thru so you have a nice measured stencil that fits the product? Can you just delete everything except the box and cut it again, all the way thru? It sure would make it easier. As it was I just used a exacto knife and a ruler and cut to all the way thru along the box line.

    Good Morning! I rec. my Cricut in December, and I love "tinkering" around with it! My favorite too, is creating stencils. I always use your tutorials! Lauren, when creating a stencil, rather than look at all the numbers at the top, do you "eyeball" how it will look on your item, and go by that? Also, I curved a text and saved the project to finish later. Bec. I saved it, I can no longer adjust the curved text, correct? Thank you so, so much for your help!

  • @krissymichele
    @krissymichele 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know I’m a year late to the party. But sooo glad I found you!!
    Questions:
    1. Why do you make the box/border in design space?…
    I just made my first stencil. But I didn’t add the box or weld. I just cut out my text regularly then cut off any extra vinyl and it looks just like yours. I know there’s a reason for this because I see it everywhere. But I can’t for the life of me figure out what the difference is which I know I’m totally overthinking and it’s going to end up being for some super obvious reason. 🤪🔫
    2. What’s the difference between the stencil film you’re using from A. Tay and Cricuts vinyl stencil?
    Thank you so so much in advance and I’m sorry for all the questions. 😬

    • @thecraftscraps
      @thecraftscraps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Here are some answers:
      1) HONESTLY I’ve done it both ways and I don’t think the box does make much of a difference. Sometimes you want a little border around in case you’re using paint so you don’t get any excess on your project.
      2) The blue stencil vinyl is actually oracle stencil film - it’s not as sticky as Cricut which sometimes is difficult to work with! And I think oracle may be less expensive

    I just found your channel. I'm trying to make my first stencil. What is the benefit to having the shape around the word, then slicing, vs. just cutting the word as-is? I'm making a stencil to do a large letter in the middle of a cornhole board, so it's just one HUGE image (I'll be using the entire 11.5" that I'm alloted). Is it just giving a frame around to help center it?

    Hi Lauren - I enjoyed your video being relatively new to Cricut but when I highlight my whole stencil (so just before where the slice command should light up) my slice command never lights up… is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a different way to get the slice command to light up so I can then slice out the parts?

    • @thecraftscraps
      @thecraftscraps  ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably are trying to slice too many things - try welding or attach your words or image 💕

    • @heatherstrang9231
      @heatherstrang9231 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes!! Thank you! I figured out how to do it with a three part text and one graphic stencil. But now one other question, if I have a svg file I want to make into a stencil (that I am buying from Etsy) and it has multiple pieces - text, graphics, etc - will it all come as one piece so I wont have to weld/attach and it will work? I guess I am worried that I will get a svg file and then it won’t slice because it is not “one piece” - does that make sense? Or do svg files come where you can “detach” all the different elements and then slice each one? I have only bought one svg file to date so apologies if this is a silly question. :). Thanks for your help! I will keep watching your videos for great help!
