    Shellac before the stencil painting stops bleeding, so any time you’re gonna stencil a little shellac first (spray can is ideal) will stop the bleed, then you can use more shellac over the top as a sealant 😊

    If the stencils are not reusable, what is the point of them ? Whynot just use the regular vinyl and stick that on the sign? I am a new circuit user and would really like to know this

    I'm wondering if you could reapply the transfer tape to the stencil after painting and remove the stencil while attached to the transfer tape? maybe reuse the stencil? I realize you'd need to clean the stencil unless you're using the same colors.... just wondering.... beautiful signs, by the way!

    Thank you for posting this video it is so helpful! Curious, how is this any different than using non-permanent vinyl? I was hoping that the cricut would cut through the backing to allow for reuse of the same template. Having to need the transfer tape to use the stencil seems to defeat the purpose. Needed this for a long (36"+ ) design and wondered if there was a way to cut through the backing too?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can cut through the backing but please note that without the transfer tape and this method, you will lose things like the centers of letters. You can see me use various types of vinyl for stenciling here: th-cam.com/video/jx-ciACo0fc/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Angie, thank you for the tutorial. I have two questions: Can you reuse the stencil? Our goal is to paint 3 sandwich board signs, front and back, so we need to use it 6 times. I'm not sure this flexible smart material can be cleaned up and reused? Is there a better material for a stencil we want to use multiple times? We were hoping not to use vinyl letters. :)

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can buy stencil film you can cut which is thin plastic sheets. You will need to make sure your design works with this though. The insides of letters have to be attached to the outside by bridges.

  • @jonlevy3243
    @jonlevy3243 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could a stencil be cut and then used as a base to emboss upon? What's the thickest material that could be used for cutting a stencil?
    Thanks very much.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the materials you could cut with a cricut would be rigid enough for embossing. But you can cut up to about 2 mm thick of SOME materials depending on what machine you have.

    What kind of transfer tape are you using? I have some low tack Vivid stencil vinyl and am afraid small pieces will not stay on the image when I pell the tranfer tape off. I've also heard it is good to brush mod Podge on first to prevent bleeding, but is it then harder to get the stencil off after the Mod Podge dries?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
