Springfield Lakes between Ipswich and Greenbank is where I'm at. But I know Gladstone - been there and the surrounds a few times. Best wishes - thanks again for the pics - they were good.
Thanks for posting these pictures. These huge machines are fascinating, and difficult to appreciate from just pictures, but I've operated agricultural and earth-moving equipment, though nothing even close to this large, and appreciate them.
The brakes you see in the vid do not slow the truck down. Usually these trucks are propelled by electric motors in the wheelhub, one on each side of the rear "axle". The same motors are switched to generators for braking the 600 tons. The disc brakes are only used as stop brakes, when the truck isn't moving anymore. They are a lot too small to slow that mass down.
Great video's! Darn near speechless! I have been a Letourneau fan ever since I became acquainted with his machines way back in the fifty's! I heard R G speak in person one time as a teenager. Quite a guy!
OMG sh i never knew they made such big beautiful and totally awesome machines i mean and the perfect music to go with these awesome giants .. its just so... im awestruck!!
LOL I worked for terex as a boilermaker at there yard in kewdale for about a year lol so i know i worked on that 400 and i fitted most of the front access stairs to those 6300 s hahaha.. never got to go to site with them tho so its nice to see them in action
You got the same stuff we got in Alberta except the special mods to handle our respective climate needs. You got the extra radiators, we got the extra oil heaters. I just can't figure out how you Aussies can handle murderously hot weather while doing field servicing of these things. Thats just brutal. At least we can dress up for our Canadian cold snaps.
excellent!, its a small world today with the internet !. do you operate or maintain them? its ok if u dont wanna give your position away, i know that company politics can get out of hand !. its funny, when i visited these machines, i always thought id want to operate them, but the engineering of them has left me desprately wanting to work on them as a fitter ! they were awesome bits of kit! any jobs going!!? lol
Thanks for posting this video. My inner child loves huge equipment, while I have operated 955 & 977 loaders for summer jobs while in school, so I have an idea how much fun these monsters are to play with.., uh, I mean WORK with, yeah. :o)
@mucbeanz sorry to break it to ya, but the rh400 in this vid is the same as the rh in mc murrey, and the dumper is simmilar to the 797's they use, so no, the stuff in alberta would not dwarf it. these are the worlds biggest hydraulic machines.
It's hilarious how small the Komatsu 575a looks after seeing everything else even though it is huge. The rest of the equipment is so much bigger it makes the Komatsu look like a Case 450.
@doggystarful You're absolutely right, the RH400 is by far the largest of the hydraulic shovels. The next smallest, however is considerably larger than a 996. The second largest is the Hitachi EX8000, third largest is the Liebherr R9800, then the Komatsu PC8000 in fourth place. It's just too bad some people can't figure out that a shovel is a form of excavator.
@rider4343 they dont have bigger machines of this type, because these are the biggest, of course p&h4100's and bucyrus 495's are bigger but they are different type!
They look like a line-up of Tonka Toys at 4:58. In any case, even in Canada metric doesn't mean much to most of us. I was born after they brought in metric and the education system still couldn't beat it into me.
this vid was made b4 the 9800 was released, and the 400 is an earthmover that excavates dirt so it kinda is an excavator, but i know hat u mean. and i think it is bigger anyway...
@NIKOLAS200 the letourneau is an american machine, so the figures i quote are imperial... im not going to sit down and work out the conversions, thats up to whoever feels the need.. not me
Really amazing pictures. on the ex, the quick connectors for all the fluids. is it driver maintanance to look after those or is it quite the affair to re-fuel?
i live in the uk and use to drive construction/ agriculture equipment but nothing like this they are just awesome i would love to go to one of these mines and just see and "hear" them working.im soo jealous. Were in western australia are these and the name of the mine please allistair thanks ps cafe del mar is an legend over here also
Hi, there are bigger excavators like P & H , and you can see this machine and more Le Torneau loaders in Mexicana de Cananea, Grupo Mexico, is a copper minning here in Mexico i was working here and i can see these extreme machines working and other, like excavators Bucyrus . If you like i can send some photos of these machines when i was working in Mexicana de Cananea. Congratulations for your photos. Where are you from?
i have decided...that im going to put one of those 60L 16 cylinder Cummins Diesel engines in my Dodge Ram 3500 HD. BEST...IDEA...EVER... OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!
Damn!!! I'm thinking the pressure rating of the hydraulic hoses connected from the pumps to te piston rods/cylinder! And the massive pressure of hydraulic pumps?
Only small problem I saw was that the RH400 is not the largest hydraulic excavator in the world ..... Liehberr 9800 is, the RH400 is a face shovel and earns its title as largest hydraulic faceshovel. Other than that its a good representation of the gear in WA
@allistairc123 im with u mate... im a boilermaker lol..i would much rather be on them as a fitter.. tho i did work on that actual rh400 when it was still in perth.. i fitted the fire supresion brackets and the emergency ladder setup lol. and i fitted a fair few of those front acces stairs on the 6300 s as well as making heaps of new handrails and extending some like the engin acces stairs that bolt to the swing arm in behind the front tires.... hav the rock monkys ripped them off yet???
Mr. LeTourneau had alot of hits with His designs. His big loaders being the most memorable. I am proud that a believer went so far in the industry.
Springfield Lakes between Ipswich and Greenbank is where I'm at. But I know Gladstone - been there and the surrounds a few times. Best wishes - thanks again for the pics - they were good.
Thanks for all of this informations and beautiful pictures
Hello
Its only when you see someone standing beside one of these machines that you relise just how big they are. Super video and well put together.
my pleasure. thanks for compliments, nice to be apprecieated.
Thanks for posting these pictures. These huge machines are fascinating, and difficult to appreciate from just pictures, but I've operated agricultural and earth-moving equipment, though nothing even close to this large, and appreciate them.
It is a delight to work in the big careers with these enormous machines! They are lucky...
awesome video and the cool trance sound!!! Best regards from another ATV enthusiast and a socman of Lightforce (Australian driving lights)!!!
thanks for all the spec's with these pics..... cool vid!

This is great, it's not even possible but the machines are beautiful.
Very informative, thanks for all your time and effort you put into this video.

I gotta laugh..... I thought that my Main Battle Tank was big, at 45 T. This stuff is really awesome. Thanks for sharing your experience.
LOL I worked for terex as a boilermaker at there yard in kewdale for about a year lol so i know i worked on that 400 and i fitted most of the front access stairs to those 6300 s hahaha.. never got to go to site with them tho so its nice to see them in action
Great pictures! Nice job of mixing in the statistics on the machines. Ignore the critics, this is good stuff!
Very nice and informative slideshow 5*
Really Informative... Good... and well arranged slides...

Really well done vid, so you've been to W.A.? Next time you come over you'll have to get some pics of world's longest trains from up there lol.
Absolutely mind blowing!!
@youngfreedom93 but a miniscule fraction of the torque and reliability at that power level...
hey, this was taken in cape preston near karratha in the north west. cool, where abouts in queensland? im currently working just outside gladstone cQ
Awsome video. It's amazing how far the engineering and technologies have developed in machinery.
Sino Ore Project, CPM. Was there in 2012. I’ve similar photos👍🏻

@NIKOLAS200 the letourneau is an american machine, so the figures i quote are imperial... im not going to sit down and work out the conversions, thats up to whoever feels the need.. not me
@maxtremble The Cummins is an optional engine. They can order it with a 65 liter MTU or a QSK60 Cummins
Really amazing pictures. on the ex, the quick connectors for all the fluids. is it driver maintanance to look after those or is it quite the affair to re-fuel?
cheers !
@Asstacular which is a type of ... ???
@JetMechMA ahhh but this machine can pick up the loco and squash it into bits lol
@alexander1485 emmmm, i think the 2,200 000 pounds rh400 would take a go at it!!
Great video
i live in the uk and use to drive construction/ agriculture equipment but nothing like this they are just awesome i would love to go to one of these mines and just see and "hear" them working.im soo jealous. Were in western australia are these and the name of the mine please allistair thanks ps cafe del mar is an legend over here also

@kalgurlie , greater capacity, more hp, heavier bigger operating range etc.. there is no bigger than the rh400. i seen the pc8000
@ph11p3540 You get used to the heat but it is hard. Personally I reckon the cold would be a lot harder to take..

I am amazed at the size of this mining equipment
wow. 2.55 mio views. no wonder with these extra giant machines!! didn`t somebody offer you to make merchandise with these film!?
trust me, the disks are about 36 inches in diameter and there are 2 in each wheel. there is also 6000 hp of retarding power
Tremendous video. One to be saved!
ps: what does the bucket at 4.49 fit?
@1Franf sorry never heard of si before
that bucket @4.47 is from a PC8000 shovel working in Kalgoorlies Super Pit

i was a diesel mechanic at sino.miss the machines... dont miss the pathetic workshop and wash bay haha.
Great pictures, i just love big machines!
Do you or does anyone know the hourly fuel consumption of the RH400?
Nice machines :-)

why are people getting so upset about which company makes the biggest truck ?
Cool machines regardless of the size?
GREAT VID.!

@allistairc123 It's a type of.... MINING SHOVEL, it is not an excavator. Just because it digs ore doesn't mean it is an excavator...
