Metal Gear Solid 2 - How to Beat the Harrier on Extreme (guide in description)

- This footage is from my recent MGS2 Extreme difficulty Big Boss ranking run. This strategy may take quite a few tries to get down, but it's definitely worth it if you're struggling with this fight, and also if you're aiming to get that elusive Big Boss ranking.
Run straight ahead to grab the Stinger and equip it immediately. You can get 3 or 4 shots off on the Harrier before it flies off. Using the lock-on will help to land shots on the Harrier as it's flying around the area. When the Harrier disappears and reappears with a twinkle, you can get 1 shot off on it before hiding to avoid damage.
When you know the Harrier is about to drop its payload, run to the bottom section as quick as you can to avoid it, then run back up. When Solidus says "I'll let you go out in style", you can actually get a second shot off on the Harrier once the first one has landed, before hiding to avoid damage.
When the Harrier is about to unleash its missile salvo, you can run to the far left side and crouch in the upper right corner to avoid all the damage, then get a few shots off on it before it flies off. When The Harrier is about to start its machine gun fire, run to the bottom section and equip a box to lower your height but still allow you to move, keep an eye on its position, avoiding all the gunfire until it flies off.

Brought down the Harrier without using the Hanging I-frames. That is impressive. I didn't know about that safe spot by the door to Strut G during the missle barrage; I'll have to remember that next time I hit up Extreme.

if you dont do the backflip then you suck XD
There are a few different strategies for being able to avoid his missiles and gunfire 😄
Hahaha, it felt so anticlimactic to see him not do the backflip, or pre-fire missiles then lock them on around buildings. Still though, very decent gameplay.
@@ChiefWombatCuddler I try to make these guides in more of an "everyman" style; the strategies I use might not be the best or most efficient, but they're easier to follow and replicate for the average person 😊

I figured, still feels weird to me though because I love doing absurd tricks. For example on the tanker mission I abuse the hell out of Drop Hangs.
