Check the throttle cables. Make sure they are not to tight. To verify the cables being to tight, loosen the 14 mm nut that locks them down. Take the cables completely off the bracket so they are loose. Then start the car. If the surging stops, then the cables were to tight. Adjust to correct
you were right. the cable was tight. however I still have a werid I idle. However now it feels almost like a miss or a bog down. But the surge is still there. No DTC codes found. about 200k on her as well.
If you could answer this question, would be a god in my eyes. How do you fix high idle 1000-900 rpm that happened after clean TB (was fine before). No one I know that is a mechanic can answer this question.
Well since you saw my video's, simply unplug the Ecm and put your nose to it and see if it smells burnt. If burnt, then you may have this issue. Did you have a Service Engine Soon light on last time it was running?
I have a similar problem with a 2001 maxima. how much should these parts cost? The car still drives but is hesitant from the cold start and then get better as it warms up. Do i need to replace the ecm if the car is running or justy the iac
Well, the only way to know if this is your issue is to get a code reader and scan the car and find out if this is the code you have. That is your next move you need to make to determine why your car is not starting I am afraid.
I haven't check the cables but that's a good idea. I pretty good with the trouble shooting. I have read that there is a manual throttle "relearn" of the 98 Nissan maxima is this true? Figure its worth a try to ask you.
What would be the problem if the car starts and shuts off on a cold start, idles rough and shakes stopping at a stop sign or light. An occasional smell of exhaust inside the car? Its a 2000 infinity i30 with a 2.2 liter.
FixyourNissan , yes the service engine light is on. Its been taken to oriellys and auto zone for it to be scanned but no code. Its a friends car and thats the info i was given.
Do I disconnect my auto motor mounts before installing new iac? and do I plug in motor mounts after install.. I heard the motor mounts back and front short ECU

First thanks for the replay. Second. Yes 900-1000 rpm at park only. In drive, 600-700. Best way to describe it. High surging idle.

If you can't communicate with the Ecm, it's most likely a Ecm. Just make sure all fuses are good first!
I have the same code po505 willing effect the rear bank2 02 sensor

FixyourNissan i
If you don't have this P0505 code, then this may not be your issue, or may be a beginning of your issue. The parts alone are around 1k bucks

3.3 you mean? Do you have a Service Engine Soon light on?

If the Service Engine Soon light is ON there has to be codes. Unless there is a problem with the Ecm and a scanner can't communicate with it properly.
if the ecm is not burnt or it shows no signs or smell that led me to belive that it's bad do I still have to change it
I searched for the page and couldn't find anything. If you post a link on your videos and tell people to like it I'm sure they will.

98 Maxima with a high surging idle. It does it only at idle?
No, just that weird looking plate that goes into the plenum
Do you know if you have any codes?
Links can not be posted. I mentioned my Facebook for "FixUrNissan" that is what I had suggested to like.
Was there a throttle body gasket in there?
It's the title to the video's I made. P0505
That would require advanced diagnostics with a scanner to determine. But most times it's a MAF sensor.

No relearn on your Year Max.
