      @@RealTerrainHobbies programming is both tedious and slightly repetitive. The killer is any little mistake can shut everything down. That cyberpunk build was a mammoth undertaking for a first attempt as well.

      the earth and stairs off to the left but i don't want to keep it going left because it will be too much weight. Maybe i can make road curving back to front some and have the road busted up by a sinkhole...idk i may just trash it. I have put a lot of time in it but i have hit a creative road block...lol. I have only been doing this for a year so...there is so much to learn. The biggest and hardest thing for me is the freaking water pouring and it always...always leaks no matter how much clear sealent i put on my dioramas....How can i get a good pour with no leaks and lighting underneath on river floor..and bottom of bodies of water?

      My God , my nerves are going crazy just thinking of doing a diorama so massive. At current time i just finished a 1ft x 1.5ft diorama of the walking dead- daryl on his bike....i know its the lego model but the figures have a lot of detail and i am not using the " road & gaurd rails" that came with it..i made a three tier with underground sewer and big sewer pipe stubbing out with green ooze & bubbles, stairs all the way up carved into rock, rails by pipe to right of pipe to beginning stairs. I came out about 10' in rama measurements and a 2 row of 1' blocks to hold in nasty water and an over flow about 2' wide. At street level i made a street light but......i am kinda burned out at the moment...because i still have to figure out how i am going to do the street. I stepped the levels of earr

I made an entire set which are going to be 3D printed for this project, go give it a watch! The poor guy didn't do so well on the views and could use some love as I worked pretty dang hard on that sucker.

    FYI, If you want to get rid of the pitting left over from the plaster cloth just wet your hands and run it over the plaster cloth, before the cloth dries, till the plaster that's impregnated in the cloth fills the little gaps. Also a little background on that stuff that's what plaster casts were made from before they came out with the heat activated polymer casts they use know. I used to use that stuff back in the late 90's and early 2k's for making casts of body parts, rocks, branches and the likes for 3D Design class in Highschool.

I also love using it with water as I know resin is not going to leak through that foil! One question, why did you decide to use plaster cloth over the shaper sheet special plaster? I've always just used the plaster.

  • @idontwanttopickone
    @idontwanttopickone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your modroc/plaster bandage shouldn't have any visible pattern on it - the little holes and gause/fabric. You should smooth it down as you attach it as this will help it adhear to the base structure. If you don't do this you may find areas of your work lifting up later on (could be months later) as the plaster hasn't attached to the base structure properly. Smoothing helps activate all of the plaster and ensure a snug fit to the material below. It will also stop you getting visible lines at the edge of each strip, as layers should merge with each other.
    Remember if you're finding you are getting a visible pattern from the gause (the fabric), you can always mix up some more plaster (the power kind) and thinly layer this on top while the bandage is still wet.

    • @RealTerrainHobbies
      @RealTerrainHobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the tip! And yeah, I was planning on mixing another thin layer to fill in all the little holes/pattern. Also, afterwards I'll be sealing everything with modpodge before applying all the flocking and whatnot

    I think I felt that beginning way too much haha, complicated projects are always so appealing and then you start working on them and there you are months later. Though your projects are on another level, absolutely huge endeavors! This is such a cool project, love seeing it slowly develop- the movable modular aspect of it is super awesome. The 3D models look great, can't wait to see how it all comes together! Also, the light hub box is super satisfyingly organized, hope it worked out well for you~

      OK, well dang. I'm just going through my backlog of comments and missed this along with a bunch of other creators. Sorry Devon! But yeah, really love how this came together and having the lighting so easily organized was an absolute dream. Albiet, expensive if I were to pay for it all on my own. That system adds up quickly! But is such a nice way of doing things. I need to hop over to your channel here, I'm so behind on my friends content. Hope you are well :)

    Awesome video as always! liked and comment, i wish i could subscribe more then once 😜.
    A little something i was not super fan off was the music this time a bit fast paced for your video imo which i like to usually enjoy as a relaxing moment. But thats personal so don’t feel bad about it. I love your Videos and will continue watching everysingle one of them from start to finish.
    Some i even watch multiple time because of the beautifull feeling that it gives seing you create beautifull art pieces from “nothing”. Please never stop😁 ❤️

      Ah, sorry to hear you didnt like the fast paced music. There were certainly moments in there of the slower stuff too. Glad you still enjoyed it anyway and I really hope it doesnt turn you off too much if I use more in the future. I will definitely try and keep some tranquility in there as well.💛🙂

    When working with terrain and products produced for model train scales, which scale is the best match up for your run of the mill 28mm miniatures?

    Love watching your tutorials. I thought Shaper Sheet was designed so you didn’t need to plaster it? Been using WS for ages it’s awesome.

    That shaper sheet product is really cool. I would consider it if I didn't get my styrofoam for free.
    The plaster cloth is essentially what they make medical casts out of, too obvious a solution for me to have thought of on my own.
    And props to Woodland Scenics for saving a lot of crafters from Ardiuno dementia syndrome.
