If you feed him daily, I would say around 2 years. But you can always online if someone has a large one they are trying to get rid of. That's how I found mine on Craigslist.
Green Morays are easier to get now. Ask your local fish store if they are using Sea Dwelling Creatures as their fish supplier and if so they can get you one for a few hundred dollars.
I have seen moray eels at my favorite fish shop
They are mostly snowflake eels because they stay small. Other types may need to be special ordered or purchased online.
