Welcome to the Solo Sue Travels channel, where I share my experiences as a solo traveler for both pleasure and business travel. I am on the West Coast of the United States (Northern California specifically) so I go on trips when possible leaving from the west coast. I post largely on cruising and all-inclusive land resorts, but also the occasional road trip to interesting places that are close enough for a drive. People hesitate to travel when they don't have someone to travel with. I think we should normalize solo traveling for both business and leisure. Come along with me and see how much fun solo travel can be.

Carnival Miracle Embarkation Day | Catalina, Ensenada | Solo Travel
Hello Travelers,
I boarded Carnival Celebration on September 24, 20223. This is a short four day cruise, visiting Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. I’ve been to both ports, but I was really excited about this cabin!
It’s is embarkation day at last! I think this was the fastest I have ever gotten on a ship in all my travels. Well done Carnival!
I have a suite this time with a wrap around balcony, and I’m planning to enjoy the heck out of this cabin. Let’s get this cruise started!
Please like this video and subscribe to my channel to make sure you don’t miss future content. I have more videos for this cruise, as well as future cruises booked through the rest of this year and beyond. Thanks for watching!

Hello Travelers, In September 2023, I boarded the Carnival Miracle for a short four day cruise to Mexico. I hadn’t been on this ship before, and was excited to try another of Carnival’s ships. This is the PreCruise hotel I used for this trip. Even though I was only traveling down the coast, I like to arrive the day before the ship departs just in case there are problems. My room was #4082, with...

Hello Travelers, I flew Alaska Airlines in first class from San Francisco (SFO) to Los Angeles (LAX) on August 20, 2023 on my way to catch a cruise ship. Hurricane Hillary was due to make landfall the day after I arrived. My ship was already in port, having arrived a day early to avoid having to sail in the storm if it got really bad. The flight was fine, if a bit turbulent. Understandable give...

Please do not use the word handicapped! It's 2024 for petes sake
I did not mean to offend. This is the terminology my friends who use these devices have used with me. What is a preferred term?
Great video! We sailed out for our RT to Hawaii in 2022 and that view of going under the Golden Gate Bridge rocks. Thanks so much for sharing the entire check-in process, too. I'm always afraid to show that on my videos. Maybe they let you since it was still during Covid? Anyway, great job!
We are on this ship 2026. Can't wait for the fun.thanks for the tour.
I love these "by-chance" finds.I always enjoyed seeing the one in SFO as you went down to the United Gates. Also the track music on this video is excellent.
Steerage.....Is that like an inside cabin?
If you like snorkeling, why not take up SCUBA? You can do the classroom and pool segments at home, and do the open water checkout dives on a cruise. SCUBA will give you a target for each island. I have dived all over the world, including Bali and the Red Sea. Amazing experience.
I grew up in Hawaii, so I was able to scuba dive in Hanauma Bay as a teen. A friend was into it, and I really enjoyed it.
@@SoloSueTravels It's like flying like a bird...in slow motion.
How much extra did you pay to sit in a windowless room in the rain?
Why would you go to a beautiful beach, and pay to sit indoors in a room with no windows?
It is nice to have a place to retreat to and rest. The air conditioning is very nice when it is so hot and humid out.
@@SoloSueTravels Too bad that you can't get that on the ship. You need a cabin. LOL
The barbecued ribs on the island will be the BEST meal of the entire cruise. YUMMIE !
My question is that when you go to the restaurant or pool side and wanna lay on a chair where can you park the scooter? I have heart problems and sometimes walking long distances is hard and I'm booking my first solo cruise for 14 days. But I mean do the ships have a parking spot for scooters
@@MarionLuther-i5t they do not have designated spots, but there is usually enough open space to find a place where you aren’t too far from it.
Please pan sloooowly and gently. And only in one direction per clip. You are not painting a wall.
I suggest that you pan sloooowly and gently and in one direction. Not back and forth.
I sailed on the Grand Princess many years ago before the huge night club overhanging the stern was removed in 2011, and many times since. A great ship. Great cruises.
I’ve been on her a couple of times now and she is a really nice ship. Interesting to her some of her history.
@@SoloSueTravels Check Wikipedia. The history is there.
Your video makes me feel that I am wandering around the boat. Amazing. Now....I wanna BE there.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@SoloSueTravels So am I. Hahahahahaaaa
Great video. Easy to watch. And...NO selfies or head shots.
Do those things not have mirrors?
@@cruisecrazy7066 not usually
@@SoloSueTravels Maybe they should have. A new accessory.
@@cruisecrazy7066 some even have bells or horns to let people know when you are behind them. Mirrors would be useful.
No one can possibly read those menus at the speed recorded.
The promenade is a great place to walk, rather than the jogging track. It goes all the way around the ship.
We are on Emerald at the end of September in the Canadian Maritimes. Looking forward to it!
i took this to hawaii last year...wonderful trip
nice weather! Which month is this?
It was late September 2022.
You never leave it outside of your cabin. Plug it in yourself.
That was an excellent tour. Great job! Sad to see they ruined the classic historical seafaring splendor of the Wheelhouse Bar by putting cheap (and ugly) bar room tables in half the facility. Dumb move, Princess.
Thanks for taking the time to put all the videos together.
We stayed in this room earlier this month. The banging sounds from above were horrible!
Good to know.
What an absolutely amazing time-lapse Sue - well done for putting this together! Did you have someone guarding your device all day, as that must've taken HOURS to shoot? You've brought back such great memories from my Panama Canal transit last year with Cunard, so thank you for this!!
I was really enjoying the aft balcony I booked. I just set up the timelapse there and let it run, replacing batteries as needed. It was great having at ability to just watch it at leisure in comfort. I'm glad it brought back good memories. The canal was a bucket list cruise for me, for sure.
How many weeks or months before a cruise would you recommend reservation at Scoot-a-round for a scooter? Thanks
I like to book those reservations as soon as possible, so six months ahead isn’t unusual for me. But at the very least, upon final payment for the cruise. If you need the device, you don’t want to run the risk of all of what you need being booked up. I have no idea what kind of inventory a place like scoot-a-round must have to keep to accommodate all the cruises at a given location, but just based on how many cruisers I see using them, it must be substantial.
I've booked as late as a week before
Aw cute little guys💖
I’ve just got a folding scooter, I’m going to put a bell on mine so that people can hear me coming. Perhaps they should have folding scooter, they take up less room.
Thank you so much for the video, this was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing your "Emerald Princess Day 16: Sea Day" experiences looks like all are happy and having fun @2💯Thanks for sharing this LIKE
Is that the Wednesday night?
No, the cruise left on a Saturday, so it would have been that evening.
Did you have to pay for 2 people for this cabin?
Yes, it is rare not to have to.
Thanks for sharing your "Emerald Princess Day 14 Cartagena" adventures great image @2:54 apprentice ! LIKE
That’s a LOT of stuff! I think I need highlighters and an hour to go through the schedule each day!
I know!! There is so much to do that planning is important or I miss things I wanted to go to.
Getting off at the Embarcadero station is still a long walk to Pier 27 the SF cruise terminal. (I live in San Francisco). Especially with luggage
Yes it is still a bit of a trek, but for people who don’t mind the walking, it is workable. It is about a mile walk.
I can’t tell you how upsetting it is when you have your own wheelchair and you can’t get past a scooter parked in a hallway. Most hallways are so narrow. We have had to go up a floor and to another elevator to get to our room before. I don’t know what would happen in an emergency. That’s why they need to be in your room.
So beautiful; thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Hi, May I ask what the bed dimension is like?
It is two twin beds pushed together with a topper to keep them from separating
Hello there!! We are in E707, which is above a theatre or casinos, not sure which. Did you have noise at night or a lot of engine noise?
I did not hear much in the way of engine noises on that deck. It might be more noticeable in a lower deck, but up on deck 8, it isn't a problem. That said, both my cabin and yours will be over the Vista Lounge, so you may hear music from that since it is a night club. I always bring ear plugs just in case, but I did not need them on this trip at all.
Thanks for the info. 😊
I purchased my own travel mobility scooter. Why? As a Travel Advisor I am traveling 30-40 times a year. I use my scooter when I’m home if I go somewhere somewhere requiring a lot of walking or standing. Rental fees are in excess of purchase costs ($400-$4000). I use my scooter for excursions and tours on other travel as well. On River Cruises you can’t take a mobility scooter period. AMA has one of their own they will put on your tour bus so you can join the tours, if you book it in advance.
Have you had any issues with airlines damaging your equipment? I had a friend who had some issues with her mobility equipment and the airlines seemed to have it in for wheelchairs.
Leaving a scooter in corridor creates a hall blockage for others. I have used my own personal scooter around the world. Virgin Voyages has parking space and plug outside every cabin door. An accessible room has more space. I’m not understanding why you can’t find space in your cabin. I’ve never had a problem and I had a smaller self folding and now a larger scooter. I do get irritated when the Excursion desk staff tell you no wheel chairs or scooters on tours but the tour driver says it’s fine! Having to deal with mobility issues is hard enough without having to deal with unnecessary lack of accessibility!
I think the idea of having a parking space and a plug is wonderful!
Thanks for sharing your "Emerald Princess Elite Benefits Flyer | Solo Travel" video you have shared a great deal of information THANK YOU ! LIKE 1

Hi Sue, what great videos. So informative. Maybe you mentioned this somewhere but what time of year did you go? There doesn’t appear to be a huge amount of people? I am booked for a July cruise this year. So looking forward to it.
This was September 10, 2022. July should be awesome, it is right in the middle of the Alaska season.
Looks like a very comfortable flight with a very nice cabin and good meals. Beautiful views of your landing at SFO✈️
Thank you! It was a lovely flight, and it is always nice when the weather cooperates.

How much time did you have in port once you returned?
I still had a few more hours. This was a 7.5 hour excursion that left the ship at 8:45am. Our sail away was scheduled for 9pm.
