Great story. As a german I gotta say, they portrayed the german tankers really good and the actors did great, especially driver Kertz. Found only some unrealistic things, like not shooting the first tank in the column, allies only using Pak 40s or wrong uniforms and tank versions in late war. I would've preferred a longer story over more than 2 hours, since the 1 hour already made me bond with the crew a lot. Imagine a whole campaign from Africa through Russia and then Normandy. Overall the story and acting was great for a Dice game.
They had the chance of making something bigger with this. May be, a two-point of view thing for the campaign, with 2 different crews. It's such a shame...
Actually the pak 40s makes a little more sense than you'd think in a situation like this it would be easier to use enemy artillery rather than man handle a 75mm gun through a urban battlefield and bring up ammunition for it(although highly unlikely irl )
I've heard conflicting things - whether it's better to shoot the first or last tank in a column. Regardless, you shoot the tank with the bigger gun during this part of the war. That's the biggest threat to the Tiger and would be prioritized. These things aren't set in stone, of course.
When I saw the title of the DLC, I sort of expected a mission revolving around a different set of Tiger tanks, specifically the last few Tiger Ausf B. that where in the center of Berlin, making a final defense against the soviets, but this is equally as powerful as anything that hopeless mission could achieve.
Not gonna happen, dice is too west mainstreamed at this point, and if it happens Russians would be represented like monsters, so no I do not want to see that
@@Hunter-rr5ue Well yeah, but they stayed at least close to the theme with this one, I do not hate this story, and that is the best any story from BF1 and BF5 will get from me, at least this one tried to be original so that is a plus. But i stand with idea that full Soviet story is just missed chance to make something good, not many people know a lot about eastern front, and if you look in some of the COD games, often best missions you done were during story of Eastern front. Stalingrad mission from COD 1 is still one of best FPS missions gaming ever had, also Russian story in COD 5 just epic, kinda sad that we did not see many soviet missions in recent years, just because of political climate.
Except it isn’t. Tiger’s weren’t infantry support and they were notoriously unreliable. Not to mention, being this close, the 75MM long barrel on the Sherman would punch through Tigers with no issue. Fury is wildly unrealistic tho, don’t get me wrong.
@@rbrick3685 I might be wrong, but I once read somewhere that Tiger I tanks were mechanically reliable, but difficult to mantain. It's worth to notice that it's armor become less effective in the later stages of the war. Their biggest assets were it's well trained crews, which became less effective when they losed training terrain and time in their final moments.
My father was driver in croatian T-72 in the Yugoslav war (1991-1996). He says the tank warfare was loot of diffrent. "Theres no rushing, just one sight, one shoot, one kill." The T-72 he was in had record of 23 destroyed serbian T-55s, T-72s and some BMPs.

The most feared thing happened. German story turned out the best and the most immersive. I hope this finally means that Germans will be getting their campaigns in the future.
This is the first time i ever looked through the perspective of German side, it so emotional. Wehrmacht were obey to do what they must to do. They were fighting for their country and their final hour falls. Remember, Please people you must not be selfish for calling germans are evil and cruel. World war 2 is the most horrific and saddest war that soldiers or human ever felt. Not all german soldiers are cruel and evil. German soldiers were sent out to fight in war to protect their country, That is their only reason. Same goes to the Japanese soldier in Iwo jima. Mostly soldiers came from farmers to soldiers. That is all i can say, I just feel bad for every soldiers who suffered a lot in times like this. War is terrible.

A LARGE majority of atrocities were done by SS and the Gestapo and where completely separate from the Wehrmacht. However Soviet soldiers did go on mass rampages through Eastern Europe completely forcing the relocation of entire ethnic groups east including: Polish, Baltic, and German civilians

Wish game devs would stop being so terrified about making a game about the German side of the war. This chapter in the game was popular and arguably the best one in game.
Once again, this is too short of a story! I like what is happening, but it goes by to quick! This story needs more time. I never truly felt more than “dang, that sucks.” I remember the deaths of Gaz and the Griggs in modern warfare because you got to know them a bit, they bantered like real people at times. This had that potential, I was more interested in this story than any other in the game. It is way better than the dumb heavy water destroyed by a teenage girl story they made up. This needed more time so I could feel invested in these characters, as is I don’t truly feel to bad when they die, not like how they want you to feel.
a well done campaign... If far too short, which is something you could say about every campaign in BF5. Does a good job illustrating the devastation nazism ultimately wrought upon the people of germany, the lies its soldiers had to rely on just to get from one moment to the next, etc etc.
Short note... Most of the shermans you encounter in this mission have long 76MM cannons, easily capable of punching through a Tiger's armor, especially view ports. So if you want historical accuracy, you could hit a Sherman in the ammo rack and detonate it. It could very well do the same to you, and far easier, since the Tiger is larger. But if we wanted true realism, this Tiger would break down repeatedly. And you'd need to angle your armor to around 45 degrees at a Kilometer at least to make your armor effective against Shermans with the 76MM guns.

these characters, the setting and the (short) story were pretty good. if Dice would have spended more time into one full on german campaign and not many short storys, i would buy the game
Single player stories are great, yeah its too short but really liked it. But Multiplayer need to work more on it. Dice should make remake of Battlefield 4 and 5. 👍

Oh my God the ending was so good !! Peter fought around 20 tanks all at a time and destroyed them. This shows the will and determination of Germany. May you forever be the Reich 😶😶.
I work at a game retailer. RDR2 sold out immediately and a lot of the merchandise that goes with it. It’s still a ton of BFV laying around and nobody buys the steel books. I wonder why
Ignoring those inaccuracies and lame AI aside, I would said this campaign was good. It's unfortunate to see how they wasted this. They should have used this from the start, working with this crew from start to end, making this last chapter an emotional hit. Adding a two-point of view for the campaign would have been even great, but oh well...
As of August this year, Germany no longer outright bans Swastikas from appearing in games, instead games must be approved to have it included. While the usage of Swastikas in this story would be allowed as it was the accurate and historical usage, the assets were created before hand and there wasn't enough time to go back and change them.
Novi _ It was seen in actual use but in limited numbers. The Calliope was used as a Rocket Artillery against Heavily Fortified Position with Rocket Barrage thus causing a demoralizing effect among the German Troops. Although, those Tanks were highly prized for the Germans in attempt to capture the Rocket Tanks. And then we have Whizbang, it saw limited action and also, highly prized by the Germans.
The story is powerful and great but.... US Soldiers using outdated Tommy gun/ British thompson versions and Lee Enfields instead of thompsons and Garands US soldiers using panzerfausts and German Pak guns US tank crews using British Sherman firefly tanks (Maybe) US pilots using British Mosquito bombers Naive german b0i shooting at an entire squad of US soldiers in the open while missing and somehow not dying German b0i accuses and shoots entire crew while somehow having the time to shoot his Kommandant while allied soldiers approach the tank Unless the Allied forces here are actually British troops using similar equipment. I somehow doubt it because they use American Calliope tanks. 11/10 would 00f again
Maybe the British Army and US join the fight together. Well they both speak English so that mean we can't recognize who is a British Army, who is US Army.
man, dice/EA are really "nailin" it with history rewriting huh? little lesson: German Tank commanders (and nearly each other tankery school in the world) were educated to always shoot at the first target of a convoy, "cut off the snakes head" is what this term is called. this way you cause confusuin in the enemy ranks. After that, the last vehicle is targetet tu cut off they to the front and back. now the enemy (mostly) lost the leader and both escape routes (front/back) and can only escape to the side, wich gives the tank enough time to shoot at the other tank. in the first scene, we see the tiger shooting at the last tank first. maybe a little thing, but i wanted to point that out. but i like that we finally get to play as AXIS forces in this campaign (first time this happens i guess)
True, but dont forget, that little thing, that the last two tank of that collum was two churchills, the second one was a valentine, and the lead vehicle was an AEC i think. In this way it was more sensible to deal with one of the oponents who had the chance to hurt the tiger.
That would make sense in urban areas. But that was in an open area, so killing the leading tank won’t trap the others. Also, the Churchill was the most threatening tank, so dealing with it first was sensible

The British column was driving along a well traveled road so cutting off the head would of forced them all into the rough terrain that neither Matilda or Churchill are very good in. As well as the Churchill doesn't mean anything to a Tiger all of them were free kills.
Dr Pancakes what i meant is that in an urban area, or a street, some times it would fit only one tank because either the road is narrow or because there are obstacles. However here, they could just go around the destroyed tank

Is it clear on what happens? Did Muller die or did the kid? The gun shots maybe sounded different than the MP40...more like a Thompson. In my opinion, the kid got killed by the US Troops and Muller got captured. Otherwise, why would there be his inner thoughts playing through out the dlc? But if it is that Muller died then so did the Kid. I mean he would have not surrendered. He would have been shot to death for refusing to surrender.
All this talk about realism, while the Tiger doesn't break down in a few minutes of being sent into battle. Or taking more than a single shot from a long 76MM cannon. 100MM of frontal armor was good when the Tiger first got deployed. Later than that? The Tiger is kind of a joke.
Historical inaccuracies aside (and boy there were many in this f***in' game), this was actually pretty beautiful. Still, it was way too short. Not to mention the fact that yet again the protagonist had to go Rambo. I'd rather have a Battlefield story like Battlefield 4. That story really made you feel like you were part of a unit and you had time to connect to the characters.
Is that "dont repair for the chapter" in the first mission bugged? I noticed as soon as I started playing. It said I had it completed. But at the mission screen it's not. It's the only challenge I have left to get the tiger skin and I cant seem to get it to pop.
Wait for the game to fully download. when you open it for the first time the missions and online have to download fully. Wait for the last tiger to fully download, and rain hell on America 🇩🇪
"Allied guns can barely scratch the thick steel skin" Ah yes, thats why Michael Wittman, Tiger ace, was btfo by regular 75mm Shermans. No to mention what by 1945 there were a lot of 76mm and 17-pounder Shermans and other tanks which could knock out any german tank. Even M8 Greyhound with tiny 37mm managed to defeat Tiger I in Belgium once, point blank and from the rear, but still.

The ending of the last gun shots were from a M1 Carbine so he is still alive but a prisoner for his fallen friends.

You know this seems like a good start for a Axis campaign(if FPS games in the future have them), something small to see how the reception is.

As of August this year, Germany no longer outright bans Swastikas from appearing in games, instead games must be approved to have it included.
While the usage of Swastikas in this story would be allowed as it was the accurate and historical usage, the assets were created before hand and there wasn't enough time to go back and change them.

The Calliope was used as a Rocket Artillery against Heavily Fortified Position with Rocket Barrage thus causing a demoralizing effect among the German Troops. Although, those Tanks were highly prized for the Germans in attempt to capture the Rocket Tanks.
And then we have Whizbang, it saw limited action and also, highly prized by the Germans.

US Soldiers using outdated Tommy gun/ British thompson versions and Lee Enfields instead of thompsons and Garands
US soldiers using panzerfausts and German Pak guns
US tank crews using British Sherman firefly tanks
(Maybe) US pilots using British Mosquito bombers
Naive german b0i shooting at an entire squad of US soldiers in the open while missing and somehow not dying
German b0i accuses and shoots entire crew while somehow having the time to shoot his Kommandant while allied soldiers approach the tank
Unless the Allied forces here are actually British troops using similar equipment. I somehow doubt it because they use American Calliope tanks.

little lesson: German Tank commanders (and nearly each other tankery school in the world) were educated to always shoot at the first target of a convoy, "cut off the snakes head" is what this term is called.
this way you cause confusuin in the enemy ranks. After that, the last vehicle is targetet tu cut off they to the front and back. now the enemy (mostly) lost the leader and both escape routes (front/back) and can only escape to the side, wich gives the tank enough time to shoot at the other tank.
in the first scene, we see the tiger shooting at the last tank first. maybe a little thing, but i wanted to point that out.
but i like that we finally get to play as AXIS forces in this campaign (first time this happens i guess)
True, but dont forget, that little thing, that the last two tank of that collum was two churchills, the second one was a valentine, and the lead vehicle was an AEC i think. In this way it was more sensible to deal with one of the oponents who had the chance to hurt the tiger.
That would make sense in urban areas. But that was in an open area, so killing the leading tank won’t trap the others. Also, the Churchill was the most threatening tank, so dealing with it first was sensible

The British column was driving along a well traveled road so cutting off the head would of forced them all into the rough terrain that neither Matilda or Churchill are very good in. As well as the Churchill doesn't mean anything to a Tiger all of them were free kills.
Dr Pancakes what i meant is that in an urban area, or a street, some times it would fit only one tank because either the road is narrow or because there are obstacles. However here, they could just go around the destroyed tank

What happened? BF1 was so good! Now this is the only good mission in all of BF5.
A pile of netting on the turret roof would block the view from the periscopes.
Is it clear on what happens? Did Muller die or did the kid? The gun shots maybe sounded different than the MP40...more like a Thompson. In my opinion, the kid got killed by the US Troops and Muller got captured. Otherwise, why would there be his inner thoughts playing through out the dlc? But if it is that Muller died then so did the Kid. I mean he would have not surrendered. He would have been shot to death for refusing to surrender.
The kid shot müller, you can see him turn the gun at the end. And the inner monologue could have been during his grief when he took off his iron cross

Historical inaccuracies aside (and boy there were many in this f***in' game), this was actually pretty beautiful. Still, it was way too short. Not to mention the fact that yet again the protagonist had to go Rambo. I'd rather have a Battlefield story like Battlefield 4. That story really made you feel like you were part of a unit and you had time to connect to the characters.

Ah yes, thats why Michael Wittman, Tiger ace, was btfo by regular 75mm Shermans. No to mention what by 1945 there were a lot of 76mm and 17-pounder Shermans and other tanks which could knock out any german tank. Even M8 Greyhound with tiny 37mm managed to defeat Tiger I in Belgium once, point blank and from the rear, but still.
How did Kertz get out of the tank first before Muller? I could've sworn he was just driving before the other freaking kid.
there is a secret hatch for the driver so he can make repairs without having to climb out through the top of the tank and get sniped
