It's hard to believe that it's been more than a year since I first sat down to review the Armored Core games! This series essentially led to the channel being where it is today, and whether you found the channel from the first Armored Core video or from any since then, I can't thank you guys enough. These videos are a little rough for me to look back on, as my production quality has come a long way in that short time, but I hope that you all enjoy the Armored Binge regardless :)
Hey man, this is the first video I've seen from you, and so far I've only watched the first review, but I already subscribed. Looking forward to checking out more of your stuff, thank you too for creating content, and for doing charity. That's really awesome of you, and I hope your channel continues to grow!
'REBEL' is the game labeling you as a Human PLUS pilot. It's force-assigned to any player who goes through the H+ program, that way you couldn't bring a Human PLUS save file into a competition or tournament that wasn't allowing it.
@@DeadSpaceWing Personally how I see the human plus program is degrading. Think about it, right. You are replaced by either some type of ai, or melded into your machine directly, your agency is basically gone, nothing but a conduit for the Ac to function. Morbidly the fact the human aspect is nothing but in the way of performance is matched by the OG arena being like top 30+ all HP models. And how many follow it after is just as crazy. It's saying to the player that more machine is better than them. Considering its bountiful upgrades too. From game development standpoint, imagine being so bad at the game you not only go in debt but then need a special buff to make the game easy for you and yet, someone may be still struggling with it. Its funny how self aware fromsoft is about difficulty and not adding an easy mode, but will turn it into a morbid joke against ravens who fail.
I love you for making this video combination! Its easier to compete against the AI if you’re human+. Then start over and do it the legendary way. Good luck with the Glints!
Yow a compilation for your entire first time playthrough of the AC series! Thank you Chole for playing and reviewing my holy trinity. Still waiting for your 2-3 hour video on MGSV:TPP!
Bravo once again for this entire review series, as a long time fan of the games it was so great to see various gamers around the world finally give it a try after 6 was announced!
Omg dude it’s been so long I haven’t watch any of ur content cuz I forgot my twitch password I just recovered it it showed ur last livestream was over a year ago and then I was like hope fully he’s not unalive and I seen the ur discord and twitter links I clicked on yt and got so happy u posted I use to watch all ut black ops 3 streams but anyway I’m happy I found u dude
Thank you so much for this Video! I never got around to play the other AC games (other than AC6) but how you presented each game really gave me the feeling of experiencing the games myself.
I saw all your reviews since 2023 and You did incredible on all of them like it's interesting and awesome. It made me love armored more to the point where I played and Livestreamed armored core 1 on ps1 emulator and I had a blast like it was fun af plus it is amazing. Armored core 1 is a head of it's time so I do plan on playing every armored core game. Also I did play armored core 6 on pc but I still haven't finished it yet so I will do that.
4 and 4A are my personal least favourites they have a ton of customisation options but the gameplay style means that no matter what you build, you're going to be playing it fast and aerial the stabilisers are a cool idea but in practice are nothing more than visual flair and barely affect gameplay at all the full screen lock-on is a consequence of the focus on high speed gameplay and is a massive detriment to any sort of accurate aiming frame parts now come in 'sets' that are all meant to go together and so mix and matching parts makes your AC look like some freakish abomination instead of all working together cohesively with slight variances in design language like the previous gens energy management is basically nonexistent and to top it all off, the look of the games is just grey, brown and more grey it doesn't matter what paint job you have when it will just be washed out and desaturated to a shade of gray to contrast, my favourites are gens 3 and 5 gen 3 for the depth of actually valuable customisation and aesthetic and gen 5 for the snappy and hectic movement system unfortunately gen 5 didn't get any real tutorials for how to make the most of its movement system which in combination with 4A fans angry that they didn't get 4A2 or something, gen 5 got an underserved reputation for being clunky and slow even though the movement system actually allows for super fun mobility with the right knowledge and practice. even from your gameplay of 5 and VD, it seems like it took you a fairly long time to discover overboosting, or rather 'Glide boosting' oh and I find that the best strategy for taking out the last boss of VD is making a lightweight build optimised for energy regen for super cheap overboost and using laser blades to obliterate his first phase each time he uses his assault armor, and then purging them and swapping to either double pistols or double assault rifles
I cant get VD to emulate properly. And that annoys me a lot. I want to play it so badly, it has a bad habit of either tanking frames for no reason: or crashing the emulator if not mostly both. I run a i7 12650 and a RTX 3050 (laptop). I should be playing it just fine, heck I can run AC4A with no problems. What i will say, as a newcomer starting to 4A and bouncing around a little in the series. AC4A is clunky as is BECAUSE of how the game wants the speed to be. Ex: White glint's fight isnt hard because the boss is designed well. Its hard because you literally dont have parts that can keep up with it leading to lucky encounters of the boss say getting stuck on the wall for free dmg from anything with high velo. Its a perfect example of "favoring speed and air combat" over anything else. The hard lock on to me gets in the way CONSTANTLY and is nothing but a hinderance for how over reliant AC4A is on turn speed alone. As for the combat flow, I love it, I just wish that it wasnt gate kept in such an awkward way. Trying to move in AC4A is not a fun experience when you cant have he parts to execute its skill expression mechanics in quick boosting. For large example, quick turning was added yet has no elaboration, to use it you have to stop ALL MOVEMENT, TILT YOUR RIGHT STICK AND PRESS YOUR BOOST AT THE SAME TIME. Then go into your movement string again? nah, that's annoyingly clunky. So is on water movement imo, i often sink under it even with my boosters on which is rather annoying. Meanwhile in gen 5, I love the concept it uses for its movement system and the soft lock it has in particular. It feels fluid, the only reason you would call VD clunky is because you dont seem to actually understand how its quick boost works: Which is the same situation as AC4A, its the fact that the game wont punish you for spamming it or trying to in 4A but it will punish you for turn speed that you may not even be able to fix in the garage. VD, on the other hand, seems to punish the player greatly for not using its boost properly because there's a large amount of delay before you can use it again. Unless you're by buildings and understand how to flow from them. Using buildings as a positioning tool and momentum tool at the same time is by far one of the most interesting ideas for a mech game because it gives a whole new level to the ODM movement that armored core wanted for gens 4 and 6. I do understand hate about gen V, but I think much of it is misplaced by salty 'veterans' of the series. To that final point, all I can say is "Dude, move on." Because fromsoft clearly does and will again whenever we see AC7 or wtv follows AC6.
I didn't really think AC1's controls were that bad when I tried it recently, although I've played a bunch of older FS games so I might just be used to the jank
I've decided to play the first Armored Core. I saw that you can change controls. So I made it more comfortable, at least for me. I've set left and right movement to left and right d-pad/thumbstick directions. Turning to X and B (I'm playing on emulator with XBox gamepad). Looking up and down to Y and A. Weapon shooting to R2 and sword attack to L2. And lastly, I've set boost to L1 and weapon change to R1
when i replay ps1 ac games i just change control scheme to make the d-pad and face buttons to mimic left and right analog sticks and all shoulder buttons for shooting and other functions. it helps a bit.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but in Nexus, the mid mission radio messages sounding blown out is intentional, and depends on what head you have equipped. Only two of the heads in the game have that voice. The starting head, and one other. That being said, Nexus wasn’t very good. It’s my least favorite Armored Core game.
I'm discovering Armored Core 3, and it is so tasteless regarding to Armored Core 2 for me. Music, graphics, AI of pilots, maps ; which are so horizontal. In armored Core 2, I felt so much depth.
Im supprised you didnt talk about the indepth paint UI or the lack of a decal customizer like in the original games. I still have my black betty, traditionalist bomber pin up somewhere on a PS1 save card that I created from scratch on console.
For me every Armored Core is awesome, I love this franchise and for me are the best games I have played but caring about the rankings (specially in AC3) is true pain
4:11:33 whoa whoa WHOA - wdym 621 is an enhanced pilot? Also brain fried, what? I thought I was playing as a normal guy… I haven’t finished my first play through yet so idk…
Pretty much everything we know about 621's background comes from things like blog posts and story trailers that were put out before AC6's release. I would definitely recommend checking them out if it sounds interesting to you!
1:10 you mean you don’t have a sixth finger for the trigger buttons? 😂 (Fr the tank controls are …real. You either can or you can’t, and though I must’ve put a hundred hours into AC 1, I think it’s fair to criticize)
I only used Xenia for gen 5. PS3 copies of Armored Core V were going for around $230 at the time of that video, so I opted for the Xbox 360 version instead 😂
You do know you can change your keymaps in first games, right? Im basically changed looking to right buttons (square, triangle, etc.), walking to right arrow buttons and actions on L/R pads.

Plus, it was also a mark of shame that you sucked.
Or at least, that's just my opinion.
@@DeadSpaceWing Personally how I see the human plus program is degrading. Think about it, right. AC6's story is pretty mysterious because for an appearance of new arena after the first new game, which somehow feels like the player is in the story
Nexus walked so last raven could run imo
People who mastered building in Nexus are peak optimizers too.
Old school Armored Core controls are punishingly awkward.

the stabilisers are a cool idea but in practice are nothing more than visual flair and barely affect gameplay at all

frame parts now come in 'sets' that are all meant to go together and so mix and matching parts makes your AC look like some freakish abomination instead of all working together cohesively with slight variances in design language like the previous gens
energy management is basically nonexistent and to top it all off, the look of the games is just grey, brown and more grey
it doesn't matter what paint job you have when it will just be washed out and desaturated to a shade of gray
to contrast, my favourites are gens 3 and 5
gen 3 for the depth of actually valuable customisation and aesthetic and gen 5 for the snappy and hectic movement system
unfortunately gen 5 didn't get any real tutorials for how to make the most of its movement system which in combination with 4A fans angry that they didn't get 4A2 or something, gen 5 got an underserved reputation for being clunky and slow even though the movement system actually allows for super fun mobility with the right knowledge and practice.

Dont know if this was already posted somewhere but a large portion of the arena ACs in last raven were the iconic or cover ACs from previous games
I was never into armor core. Picked up 6 a couple of days ago.....I'm a believer. What a refreshing good game from software makes quality.
So overall, I give this compilation a 7.9 overall, very solid in general.
Armored Core 6 truly is my favorite Soulslike 🙏
