Hi Greg, many thanks for the reply. I don’t envy you picking 5 classic Lizzy tracks, or AC/DC classics. Used to play a lot of rock covers, loved them all, you can really go to town on some of them. Sometimes beginning a gig with four back to back, no stopping classics. Fills the dance floor 😂 I await with bated breath for your AC/DC tracks, you just can’t go wrong...there all good 👍
    Rock till you drop👍

It’s funny, I didn’t focus as much with Rock for the channel because I thought all the creators were doing it and there would already be too many bass lessons already. But Rock is such a huge genre and there are so many great bass lines. I’ve learnt the errors of my ways. Maybe I’ll even make a Rock course later next year.

So much fun Greg. Love all of these riffs. My all time favourite is from Cheap Trick. It’s called ‘Can’t Stop Falling Into Love’. Bassist was Tom Petersson who co-wrote it.

    • @GregsBassShed

Interesting choice Ruth. I kinda think I know Cheap Trick but I’m not that familiar with them. Maybe I played some of there tunes once at a gig. I’ll research more!

Hi Greg, you are doing well? Rog Glover of Deep Purple, who is now 77 years old, and his Black Night was the second peace of Bass-Line i learned when i started playing Bass 4.5 years ago. The reason: Dancing to Black Night with a girl, i made the first kiss at the age of 10. My first peace of music i tried is "Easy Livin'" by Uriah Heep. That's awsome. You tried?
Thanks for this lesson and i wish you a great time in this december. Cheers Alf

This sounds great Alf. It's amazing how music stores up so many memories for us. Great to hear your story.
I have added Easy Livin' tp my list of 'lessons to make'. This reminds me of a picture of Uriah Heep (from David Copperfield) that we use to have in our family house. I use to stare at this crazy fella every time I walked down the stairs as a child!

Hi Greg, brilliant lesson, loads of fun memories flooding back playing three of the riffs you picked. Thank you. Where to start on favourite rock riffs. Ones I have enjoyed playing live are, in no particular preference Whole Lotta Rosie: Dancing in the Moonlight (Lizzy version) Money: Keep on Rockin’ In the Free World, Black Dog (Zep) The Trooper, Baby Please Don’t Go (Them) Alright Now (Bad Company) Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC) Message in a Bottle. I’ll stop there 😂 sooo many great rock bass lines, spoilt for choice.
Great lesson, look forward to your next one. 👍

Fantastic list of tunes Bryn, thanks so much. I have made a note of them.
I've also played some of those tunes live. Use to play Message In A Bottle, Alright Now, Rockin' In The Free World (I even sang backing vocals on that!) and Black Dog which is an interesting one to play.

Hello Greg, in response to your email on ROCK songs to submit to you, I've been a fan of Thin Lizzy since their very beginning and went to see them at the Pavillon Baltard in the late 70s! A very great moment! and what a piece to submit to you "Chinatown, Dancing in the moonligth, Soldier of fortune, Bad reputation, Wiskey in the Jar, The Boys Are Back in Town ETC .... with this Huge big Phyl Lynnot and no less huge Gary Moore, ‎ Brian Robertson, ‎Scott Gorham, then a succession of very good musicians, an impressive discography, I can only recommend Rock Legend by Thin Lizzy!!!!
And then from AC/DC this other magnificent group that I have been following since 1975 with this sublime Bon Scott and his voice which is the very essence of this group and all the other Young Brothers, Brian Johnson , the great Cliff Williams, with these bass lines which own the shop in part!
A little "Cold hearted man" ETC......
And so many great Anglo-Saxon groups that could be named, but unfortunately too few French people apart from Telephone, Trust, Thank you for everything!!!
    Musically !!!

Wish I could remember the name of the bassist who said Cliff Burton inspired him to play with a pick. The interviewer said, "Cliff played with his fingers" and the bassist replied, "Yes, and I knew I couldn't play like that with my fingers".
