I hunt in Michigan. This is such a cool video and camp! Great job! I love seeing your dad on here 😊 . Because I lost my dad 10 years ago 😢 he was our hunting captain. Always had all the. Blinds set up
Sorry for your loss. We’ve lost quite a few of our camp buddies and family. Just isn’t the same without them. I try to enjoy every minute at camp with my dad. Lucky he is still able to get out with us. Hope you had some luck in Michigan.
On the edge of my seat! Is there a part 3? I sometimes hunt out of homemade ground blinds like you showed at the end. Love them! As always enjoyed the vid. Love the tribute at the end of great hunters who have moved on. Happy Holidays!
Hoping to get it up today. Was at a work event for that past week so haven’t had time to get it edited. Those ground blinds are very nice. Think g of making some stands for them since they are way more comfortable than a hang on deer stand.
Right on grat video as always im in muzzleloader right now seen a fawn last night today had to go home snd get the side by side with tracks because im fighting the snow i hope its not a repeat of 2019 because the population is just coming back and if this year continues like this it might be a bad winter for deer 🦌
As long as we get an early spring. That’s the most important part. Best of luck! I haven’t been back up but I’m guessing around 4-7” of snow in that area right now. Good to see fawns.
That front came through early Veterans Day AM in the Tomi area I could hear it building to a Roar by 3am we had gusts of 60 miles per hour on our wind gauge
Oh it was roaring out. Woke up and decided I wasn’t going out. Way too windy to be out in the woods. Maybe an open field or something for but lots of trees that could come down.
I’m curios why you guys don’t hunt the last 30 minutes of light. Usually prime time for us and you guys typically are back to the wheeler or boat with light left
It’s the cameras bringing in light. We sit til legal shooting light ends. Believe me, you can’t see more than 10 yards when we leave the woods. The cameras bring in a ton of light.
I watch a lot of Minnesota hunting videos most with the same results, no deer. Very disheartening. But the people in charge still swear it's not a wolf problem. I think they don't know what they are talking about.
It’s tough. I’m just hoping for some more normal/mild winters. We don’t even have many wolves anymore. Saw a couple once this season otherwise it’s been a few years since we’ve even seen them. Tough country for deer. But we could certainly have a wolf season if the federal government would delist them again. Then we could pressure the state to have a season again. Certainly not Threatened in Minnesota.
Has to be the late winters with deep snow. They are in very poor shape. That and habitat is very poor for deer. Once winter kicks in and they are limited to browse they are literally starving to death until green up. The later the snow stays and spring takes the worse it is on deer. We don’t have the luxury of agriculture fields and hardwood forests with oaks. These deer are living on the northern most extent of there range. Move a 100 miles or so north and there are no deer or very very few. This country once hosted moose and woodland caribou, Whitetails made their claim after the logging and now with limited disturbance aside from large aspen cuttings the habitat is very poor for Whitetails.
With the real low umbers we don’t have disease issues. Personally have never seen deer that look unhealthy - aside from starving in the spring. This is just one of those areas where wildlife and Mother Nature can manage themselves (edge of the national park where no management occurs). Since our knowledge dating back to the 40’s with hunting up this way the winters really dictate the population. Just what we have seen. And they have always had wolves in this area and their population follows deer populations since the extirpation of caribou and the decline In moose - when the deer numbers increase the wolf numbers slowly follow and vice versa.
It’s tradition. Years ebb and flow. We’ve been on a tough stretch but I enjoy the camp and the remote wilderness just as much as bagging a deer. Something about being immersed in the middle of nowhere and not see or hear another hunter. Been in the family since the 40’s so I don’t think I’d spend time at a different camp. We hunt around home as well and I can go muzzleloader or archery in other parts of the state and take some does for meat. This is just my deer camp and always will be. Deer or no deer it’s more about the camp with my brothers, family and friends.
Awesome set-up you have there, always look forward to your videos. Beautiful scenery on the boat ride in!! Miss seeing Frank with you guys.
Thanks. We sure miss Frank. Even on the slowest of years he’d find a nice one!

Thanks, always a good time at the cabin whether we harvest or not.

Great videos!! A little sign goes a long way
Haha! When you haven’t seen any life it’s sure makes for excitement when someone sees something!

Good stuff
Appreciate it

Start using decoys like the montana's work great attach orange to it
Thanks for the tip, will look into that. Never used a decoy!
@@arrowheadangler I use them and it will definitely bring deer within rifle range
Is a problem with wolves
There is this. Winter also plays a huge role.
I didn't have any luck up at my camp this year but I'm hunting public land by my house today
Good luck. I am not likely to make it out muzzleloader this season. Kids have lots of activities in the winter.
@arrowheadangler I have mandatory overtime until Xmas at work the next few Saturdays
Ugh, well might have to take a sick day. 🤣
On top of that summit was the old MicMac burial ground
Oh gosh… well that would explain all the wild dogs running around 🤣
@@arrowheadangler exactly. I didnt know if you had seen Pet Cemetery or not.

So, what do you think is reducing your herds?

@ Great insight and explanation. Would there be disease issues like CWD playing a role, too?

Why do you people go deer 🦌 hunting you never see deer 🦌
There used to be really good deer there. Minn Dept of Wildlife needs to fix it.
