Aviation Rental Check Out Flight How To! JPLAviation

A rental checkout is something that all places that have aircraft for rent will do for you when you with your license come and want to rent from them. It is an insurance requirement, but often this is something pilots find themselves being nervous about. The only reason to be nervous should be is if you didn't study before hand! Think of your checkout flight as a step towards becoming proficient again, trust me I was there. After I go through what a checkout flight consists of, I have the video from the second time I went and flew after not flying for 8 months! I was not only not current, I had lost some of those psychomotor skills that are required to fly the airplane. Enjoy my journey to becoming current again!

Great video! Very instructional and relatable. Current student pilot and watching many aviation TH-camrs who have 1000+ hrs I forgot the learning curve is still very steep after I’m licensed. Great stuff. Can’t wait for more

So wait does a check out flught have to be done for every rental everytime and is the unessasry additional cost covered by the rental service

Usually it there is just one initial with the club. Then as long as you stay current you won't need to perform another check out if my understanding is correct and others work as mine does. Not before every time you rent.

Ok so this was supposed to be a checkout flight for the rental turned into a full blown instructional flight? That was all pretty sporty. Phew!
Did they rent you the plane after that performance?
