This thing is insane. How they're going to smash a giant multi angle modern addition on the back of that poor little cape and make it all hang together is anyone's guess. Miracle if this thing turns out to be any good.
Sweet job! I've rarely been lucky to have clients live off site...That place is HUGE...As a remodeling contractor for 30 years; they're doing at least 350K worth of work depending on finishes; that number could easily double...I imagine skilled labor is no better up north as well; Down here in philly; it's horrible

As a remodeling Contractor in philly for 35 years, I know it would be mine...I don't envy you for the logistics in a project that size...1.3 million? That'a a dollar per decision...:)..I hope you have zero stress, no slippage and they give you the CO easy peasy...Just remember when you get to the punch list; you're half way done...:)

Funny, I stumbled upon lime mortar after watching a TOH video here where Tom was using Portland cement to fix a stone foundation. Many commenters said that was not right. After that, I learned the right way to restore my 150 year old sandstone foundation using lime mortar. It’s a dream to work with and matches the historic masonry used to build my home (the right way)!

@Navy1977 I saw it. I understand what they’re trying to do but at this project develops this still feels like essentially a brand new modern home with some annoying elements from the last house they’re choosing to keep in the front.
Not impressed by Marks masonry skills (been a mason since 1976). should have drilled the rebar holes before starting wall (that way area can be cleaned out properly). uses a cheap level. should have double buttered all the head joints
I used to love this show... It's just a mockery now of super Rich versus poor and if the house isnt 5,000 square feet and up. They don't even want to talk to you..that friggin island is BIGGER than my tiny apartment... I'm all for defunding P.B.S It's Just a joke now... The PBS building in Boston WGBH makes the Taj mahal look like a tent.. and most of the staff on TOH are multi-millionaires

Asbestos remediation has become such a lucrative industry, along with the money from civil suits that lawyers love pushing, that the extent to which we are now told to freak out about asbestos is absurd. Here's the health tip everyone should know to minimize your risks from asbestos: don't smoke. You shouldn't be smoking anyway because it is so awful for you, but your risks of mesothelioma only increase to a shocking degree if you're also a smoker. Same for radon exposure.

There are hundreds of This Old House videos available going back to 1979 when the remodels were relatively simple.
Yeah or upgrading my ranch house that hasn't changed since the Soviet Union was still around.
