I was wondering when we were getting a Judy Garland cover. I love her and the movie Meet Me in St. Louis!
Well quite, although I must confess when I saw which song it was I kinda hoped Randy would also reference the famous flub that went into the movie at that point. (For those who don't already know, one of Judy Garland's friends was visiting and, thinking it was only a rehearsal, called out "Hi, Judy" which remains audible in the final cut about two and a half minutes into the song. The only give away it wasn't intentional is the momentary look of concern on Judy's face.)
I love her too, and it was one of my favorite movies as a kid! Awesome seeing this first thing in the morning. 😊

I've heard that story. According to one version, the friend who called out "Hi, Judy," was Miss Garland's frequent co-star, Mickey Rooney.
Another version states that the voice said, not "Hi, Judy," but "Hi, Johnny," which may have been a reference to a character in the film, and that the only reason for Judy's look of concern was because her character didn't expect to meet the character called "Johnny" in this particular scene.
I live in Missouri, and I almost couldn't stand looking at that P.O.S Josh Hawley just for the duration of this song, but I did it for Randy. Totally worth it.

I can't believe this one tops them all, out of so many great productions! One of my favourite songs, done in the 40's close-harmony style, with witty yet sophisticated lyrics, and Randy's vocal gymnastics and overdubbing. And let's not forget the extravagant wig and white gloves. Hawley should be flattered that he was singled out in such a stylish manner. This one should win an award.
