I have a 120 prado with 300k on the clock. So far, I haven't had a reason to upgrade. Still running as good as new. I got the 4l V6 and its just brilliant. To be honest, its so good I'm too scared to upgrade in the fear the upgrade is not as good 😅
I have a 2010 with 30k of extras, it’s done 14 trips to and from the WA goldfields from the Gold Coast plus a 17,000k trip through some extremely rough tracks in the Pilbara and Kimberley region, places where I used the rear locker to get me into trouble and needed the front and rear plus winch to get me out, the only thing I’ve broken has been an alternator from driving thousands of K’s on mining haul roads, it was full of tiny rock particles, oh yes I have winched my friend out in his big tough twin turbo v8 200 series after constantly bagging the soccer mum car, that was the highlight of my 4wd life, I’m about to give the car a big birthday before heading off again in March for another 5 month gold prospecting trip.
Love your work Harry! The Kaon table has been brilliant in my 90 series Prado - they dont do one for my older model so I bought the 150 table like yours and then got a 3mm piece of ally sheet cut to the same size as my door card for the barn door and then carefully cut out the holes and used rivnuts in the door and bolted it all in that way so in effect it has an ally splashback which looks and functions bloody beautifully!! You made it look really easy undoing those damn tight little elastic loops . . . . I always struggled to get hold of it and hurt my fingertips so I did a nice little hack of using a really small arribeener around each loop which tucks away nicely on the side edge of the table when locked in place and makes it soo dam easy to open now.
Nice overview Harry, definetly Australias most modified Prada at this point. the Redvision/Rogue would have been better than the egon for that application I reckon.
My Bluetooth was good when I got the Prado at 100,000 klms just under 3 years old. Quickly went to between bad & useless. Didn't realise it may have been an OEM issue, too late now. Thanks for the info. Got the Kaon tranny cooler too. Even without towing, the tranny temps were reaching 120°c on a 9° night ( running down to the Sunny Coast) when you have a DPF burn in hilly terrain. Lightly loaded at that. 1 person, a fridge & overnight bag. Fixed now😊 Love the Kaon gear, credit to Aussie Industry. I rely on laser cutters for my work, so get what they do, love their products. Toyo ATII here in std size, very happy with them. Ran them on my Frontera in the end, ran Pirelli Scorpian A/T prior. Think the permanent 4wd & doughy power in the Prado help wet weather wheel spin massively. No more breaking traction at 80kph when you drop 3 gears to overtake 😁 Dobinsons MRA as of 3 months ago. Love that. Not driving downhill (as much) by OEM default.
I upgraded to the 2022 VX Prado from my 2018 VX just so I could get the 150Kw engine. Plus the tradein offer from Toyota was too good to refuse. Luv the Prado.
Fantastic honest review, I wonder if you would also like to be able to adjust your caravan airbags without accessing the inside of the van. Love the set-up too. Crazy the difference a steel bar makes compared to alloy, hit a cow with ours and only a slight concave on the indicator panel of the bar.
I've got the previous facelift 150 VX V6 Petrol (with the horrible looking "teardrop" head lights) but man, I love it. If it wasn't my daily driver for work, and I got to go out on more adventures than I do, I'd use your build as inspiration. For now she's mostly stock aside from tyres, with a few small upgrades planned. Too bad I cant fix that front end look though.
All Preso’s have a factory trans cooler. It uses a heat exchanger through the radiator. The trans oil pass through the radiator then through your kaon air cooler.
Not only that, the prados, well 120s anyway seem to have a pretty hefty cooling system, so as long as you don't drive like a dingus you don't need to add a cooler (even when towing something reasonable)
A nice summary of the accessories, be very interested in seeing how the Lithium Battery works out,and what rear bar you get. How has your air filter box worked on dusty roads? Any dust getting through? We are in the process of fitting our Prado VX out. Lot more basic than yours :) My biggest complaint is the leaky rear door seals, even when all the recirculate options have been turned off.
Nice one Harry. I have my GME XRS BT1 clamped to the gear stick, facing backwards. Seriously comfy leaning on the centre console to access. Also frees up the steering wheel.
Great review...but here's a question. if you were just about to head out and buy a Prado, what would be the 10 main most upgrades you would put on it first?
My favorite no cooking video mate, owning the same Prado absulutely brilliant, thank you for the advise...how good is Kaon, theyre working on 20litre water storage side steps but not available yet. The other bit I picked up is no option to feed 30litre water tank without pressure, I didn't quite understand your resolution for that but all good.
Interesting vid, now with a tune and the amount of klms you have done whats the fuel economy like? Say highway, towing and not towing and around town also?
On my built 200 (in the US east coast).. I have totally destroyed both Kaon shock guards.. be happy to show pics, but switching to thick steel ones. They did protect the shock mount but died in the process...
I’ve got a 120 v6 Prado supercharged, seriously I’m gunna buy another v6 Prado and completely overhaul and supercharge it, I don’t wanna ever upgrade to anything else, best car I’ve ever had. 550***klms and still going strong. When this one dies I will transfer all my accessories.
Would be interested to see how the lithium holds up. I would assume they all degrade over time depending on heat insulation. I had an Itech one for one year and it already degraded to the level I can feel it when pushing the start button.
As much as I wanted to go with a Toyota I just couldn’t go past the reliability of the Pajero. I dont love the look of either but it’s a tool for a job. May upgrade to a 300 if they prove good after a few years.

Hey Harry, Just wondering where you got the mounts from for your 270? We’ve installed a 270 from another company that has the forward piece as well but the mounting position on our rack means it sits a little too far forward for the mount and has a slight flex in the awning frame because it’s not quite in the right spot to hold the load. The shape of the mount you have on the front seems like it might help us with that issue
Hi mate great video again. How do you find the convex lens? Do they screw with you judging distance. I am thinking of changing due to the blind spots on the flat ones
Awesome stuff. I have a 2019, with the 130 kw but I dont tow anything and the car is only used as an offroader. Ive got the richards lock up kit and so far so good. How do you know this was the cause and if so, was it an isolated event or common. You got me paranoid now! 😆

Another informative video! Love your details and feedback on prado mods. Im living in Melbourne, and got a 2022 prado vx. Im really keen to get mods but wondering hows your experience with Toyota warranty claims so far? Especially after dyno and gvm upgrade
Bullbar looks great. Is it an issue if the bar is TOO strong and impacts deform the chassis rails? I would prefer to bar deforms and sacrifices itself i stead of my chassis
