Kinda odd that I sleep really well in my truck camper than at home. The neighbors think I’m crazy because I put out my 4 season tent on the front lawn in the middle of winter. Sleep really well with a -40 sleeping bag. Stay safe peace

This can be very dangerous if you do in the rainforest area.
In my country Malaysia, there's a dangerous phenomenon where we called "kepala air" which is a sudden gush of water appear caused by rainfall on the watershed of the mountain.
It can happen in few seconds where we have very little time to react. It has taken many lives.
It is advice to build camp above the area where you see musk grow or any indication showing where is the highest water level.
    Happy Camping and Stay safe.

I had to partially camp over water and mud one night when canoeing the Fisheating Creek here in Florida. The whole area was flooded from rains and the only dry ground was one small island about 40 feet across. My buddy had to have a place for his tent and the other friend needed a dry spot. That left me at the edge of the island between two trees , half water under me and half semi dry ground ( mud ). The pleasure of a good Jungle hammock , you can hang it anywhere there are two items to tie off of. If there was a choice I would of been camped between two trees away from the water. In 60 ( plus ) years of hammock camping that's the 1st and only time I hung my hammock over water.

The forest beckons us, fills our thoughts. You can't stay at home anymore! You literally rip your jacket and backpack off the rack. You go on a journey where there are no people, and nature is especially beautiful. The smell of last year's wet needles and leaves is carried by warm air, which permeates you with a strong stream. You cannot get enough of it. The forest accepts us as we are. We are his guests, not his hosts. And we are grateful to him. How can it be boring for someone in this world to look at a drawing of veins on a green leaf for several hours?

Never camp next to a river..

The Mosquitos are actually less over Flowing Water. They can no Breed there, They are scared of Fish...
The rest is Correct. Never camp to Close, to Any Water. Even on a Mountain Lake, there can be Mini Tsunamis caused by a Rockfall. Just the Wind exposure is enough. He clearly is not a real Outdoor Guy. Just a TH-cam Poser.

I would think that you probably wouldn’t hear them anyway unless you are an EXTREMELY light sleeper. I just got back from a trip where we had a small bear (based on prints, probably medium-sized black) visit our site every night. If he had waited till we were asleep we would never have known he was there until morning. In my experience (not an expert opinion by any means) people tend to forget that predators are naturally very stealthy.

If you use tree straps that is never gonna happen .. buy straps that are triple stitched and allow to dry if ever wet from rain and you will never have a failure.. hammock camping is the only way to go in my opinion 😊

Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise definitely applies to this set up.

Awesome video with some great editing. Brave slinging your hammock over the burn. I'd have ended up falling in it during the night. 😂 Happy to call myself a new subscriber.

Is there any concern with cooking that close to your tent with bears?

I am a hunter and fisherman. I was a Marine from 1987-1991. I never ever sleep over a river before?! In a river as a recon sniper. But never over water. Not afraid of falling in the river I guess.

What an epic place to camp and absolutely crushed the fire starter. You can keep the black flies. I grew up with them in NH and don’t miss them at all

Great idea to string your hammock across a babbling stream. That gentle sound would put me right to sleep. Great video.
