Hello again Sylvia. I have just come across another video of yours in timelapse format. The Hollyhock Garden. What a beautiful artwork this is. It was a delight to watch uou build the layers during the process of speed painting in the video. I wonder, do you plan the colours that you initially lay down in Acrylics? Or, how do you decide which underpainting colours go where on the canvas at the start. I ask this because it appears random initially, but then these colouts begin to change and appear more specific and deliberate as you persevere with the layers. I guess what I sm really asking is: do you work loosely and randomly choosing colours to underpaint with, or do you take these strictly fom the photograph your working from? In all sincerity, I truly love the beauty and tranquility of this final piece. 😊👍🖐️🏴🇬🇧
Beautiful! I love hollyhocks almost as much as I love your paintings! Looks like you're all moved in - is this your new studio space or just where your painting for now?
This painting is oil over acrylic. Just acrylic for the collages. As to subject matter it varies with the oils I work mainly from photos but collage it’s more from imagination.
Very believable flowers.I’ve tried painting hollyhocks and it’s not easy..still. can’t take in how you paint so loosely and achieve this clarity. 🌺💜
Anneke Louw. Beautiful and inspiring. Thank you.
Thanks so much
Love it
You are so inspiring and fun to watch. You're the best pep-talk, (by action) I've ever received before a painting class!
Thanks so much. Great comment.
I wished I could loosen up like you do. This must be so pleasant to do. I really hope you enjoy it, making such beautifull art. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Mieke. It’s lots of practice over many years so keep painting. Best if all enjoy!
Stunningly beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching x

Yes it’s fairly random in the early stages and keep as free as I can. Experience and practice helps to understand what works.

Sorry I don’t understand
I assume the painting is in oils. Is it just acrylics you-use for your collages?.Also I assume you. don’t know what the subject is before you begin.
