Husband is a AH. He has zero reason to be mad at OP. He should have IMMEDIATELY told Cindy to knock it off. He put his feelings ahead of OP. OP did NOTHING wrong. I have to say OP hit the MIL jackpot. I love that she called Jake on his BS. MIL is awesome. OP shouldn't have apologized. She did nothing wrong.

MIL is definitely a keeper! Good on her for understanding what her son put OP thru. But overall a good update, hubby has seen what he did wrong and with counseling will hopefully never do something this stupid again. Just as well Cindy and company is out of their lives.

Just Yes Mother In Law!! The way she handled this was so awesome and balanced.
Jake definitely screwed up but it sounds like he got set straight and will hopefully know how to be a better partner in the future. Also very glad to hear they will be going to therapy - it sounds like working on their communication is a good plan.
If it’s really true Cindy is like that with everyone… somebody needs to get her into therapy. That’s not normal and can be a red flag for some pretty dark stuff.

Cindy: WTF???? I don't know if it'd be worse if Cindy's just like that on her own, or if Shawn is grooming her somehow. Cindy's whole sob story leaves me with very little respect for her. I really hope I'm wrong, but she seems toxic and like no one will be lucky to have her.

Ok I've changed my opinion a bit here. Is a man not allowed to freeze when sexually harassed? Like, that's what this was. Why are we forced to, "Be a man!", and shove the assailant off in order to chase after a partner that didn't step up to rip them away when the assailant started the harassment?
